worth the money
- Pros: I have no problems with my toshiba. it has a distinctive keyboard
- Cons: none I can think of
- Other Thoughts: this is a good buy. Toshiba is a good brand.. well, that's from what I've researched. In my case it's proven to be true. I have no regrets since getting my netbook. happy customer right here =)
Great little netbook
- Pros: This netbook had the best combination of features for a reasonable price along with Toshiba's reputation behind it.
I've owned this for two months and love it. I purchased it primarily for travel and have taken it to Europe and on several transcontinental trips. Wifi reception is great, I can verify its better than on my iPhone. Battery life is excellent; over 6 hours generally.
- Cons: My only complaint is the wrist rest area below the keyboard is easily scratched, I found a self stick plastic protecter used for cell phone screens will help keep it looking new.
- Other Thoughts: YOU NEED TO ADD A 2GB RAM CARD! Its cheap ($20), easy (5 minutes) and the performance difference is incredible. Several reviews complained about being able to use only one application at a time and stuttering video; this is true at the stock 1GB but at 2GB its much improved!
Has anyone bought this machine and upgraded it to Windows 7? Would like to hear any comments about that.
Perfect for a laptop so portable
- Pros: Upgraded RAM to 2GB and HDD to a Corsair Extreme 64GB SSD the same day I got the laptop, so I don't know how good it is with the inbox HDD/RAM. It is much faster than I could imagine for an Atom powered one.
Pros I can list:
- Even with the 6-cell battery, very light.
- Have been using it for 1.5 hours on battery right now and it still has 80% remaining (so, it would last approx. 7.5 hours)
- Looks very sturdy.
- Very easy to upgrade RAM and HDD (for HDD, you will need a T6 torx screwdriver).
- So quiet.
- Keyboard is really impressive. It is not hard to use at all even though it is not full size. All the keys are perfectly located.
- Cons: There is nothing really important in my opinion, but if I must list some:
- It is so quiet, you can't even the hear the speaker :) Speaker is located on the bottom of the unit and is not loud at all.
- Screws holding the HDD in the HDD caddy were so tight, I ended up stripping one of them, which made it harder to get it out.
- Even though the keyboard is almost perfect, the TAB key is incredibly small. If you use it a lot, like me, you will find yourself pressing Q time to time. But you get used to it.
