4 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: -Is a monster for a laptop. Purchased this as a desktop replacement and it's doing the job nicely. Runs most games at high to very high graphics/resolutions settings.
-Large keyboard and number pad.
-Windows 7 is a nice upgrade coming from XP.
-facial recognition software a nice touch.
-Blu Ray movies look great.
-Speakers are powerful for a laptop
-Fan is pretty quiet
-Looks great

Cons: -Narrow viewing angle can make it difficult for more than one person to watch a movie. Have to play with the tilt of the screen to get the right viewing angle,
-Volume, video control keys too close to keyboard and easy to hit by accident
-Annoying beep with said keys, but easy to turn off in BIOS
-touchpad is fairly small, especially with all of the extra wasted space on surface of the laptop. but, has a nicely located key for toggling the touchpad below space bar.
-Power cord is in a poor location on the right side of the laptop (gets in way of the mouse) if you have to run the cord past toward the front of the computer
-Could use 1-2 more USB ports. Sleep and charge is nice feature though for an iphone, etc

Other Thoughts: Just what I was expecting to get based on the other reviews here, and it's been a great computer. Biggest drawback is the screen is not 1080p resolution and narrow viewing angle, but you can always pony up the $$ for the higher-end model. Newegg delivered it fast as expected.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased with Qosmio X505-830

Pros: *Excellent Win 7 desktop replacement laptop.
*huge 18.4" 720P widescreen driven by the nVidia GTS 250m is very sharp & easy on the eyes. BlueRay DVDs look incredible on this wide screen.
*full keyboard w/large sized backlit keys + number pad
*fast i720 processor and 4 GB of fast DDR3 1066 RAM
*runs quiet & cool
*wireless connectivity has worked flawlessly via 802.11G
*decent quality sound for a laptop

Cons: >as others have said - fingerprint magnet.
>no included media. Annoying..
>speakers not very loud, but it IS just a laptop.
>vacant 2nd drive bay disabled so you cant add a 2nd hard drive or SSD. Obviously done to help sales of the higher priced fully SSD equipped model. Wish they had left us that drive bay connector to upgrade later.

Other Thoughts: I researched this purchase carefully as a Xmas gift for my Mrs. I found this model to be an excellent value desktop replacement laptop with a great feature set for the price. All very high quality components. Very pleased so far with both NewEgg & Toshiba. Boots fast. Win 7 64 bit is very stable. This laptop can do just about anything - no limitations. Ran about 30 Microsoft Updates. Have installed Norton 360 v3 , Lojack for Laptops Premium with no hicups.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: extremely fast, easy to type keyboard, lightning fast burning capabilities, nice sound out of speakers

Cons: finger print magnet, webcam only works well in good lighting

Other Thoughts: The Volume button is located right where my pinky finger is located when i'm typing and I hit it all the time. Out of the box, the volume button beeps everytime you touch it to show sound level(very annoying). This can be disarmed in the Bios (F2 on computer start up)thank goodness!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far.

Pros: -The keyboard is great. My old laptop did not have a number pad, so I'm extremely happy this one does. And the buttons are larger than most laptops I've used.
-Applications load pretty fast.
-I tested out the Blu-Ray player with Full Metal Jacket. It looked pretty good.
-The speakers are great once you customize them; at first, without customization, they sound really quiet and bad.
-I have not tried out many games on it yet, but I did try Sims 3 and it runs great.
-I have not noticed any loud noises yet, my Toshiba is very quiet.
-Startup is pretty fast as well as shutdown.
-Some people hate the placement of the mouse pad, but so far it has not been a problem for me, especially since I use a mouse, and the mouse pad can be turned off.
-The backlit keyboard is nice.
-I like the velcro strap attached to the power cord to keep the cables neat when you want to transport the laptop somewhere.
-The price is amazing compared to other laptops with similar features.

Cons: -As with everyone's complaint: fingerprint magnet.
-Trying to find a decent, reasonably priced bag to carry it in is difficult; there are not a lot of options.
-It is heavy, but I knew that when I purchased it, and I did not plan on carrying it around a whole bunch of places.
-I'm still getting used to having the power cord connect on the right side as well as 2 usb ports where I usually plug in my mouse. Since I use my mouse on that side the cords sort of take up space. Nothing I can't get use to, and not really that big of a deal.

Other Thoughts: Many people say they do not like the Media Buttons beeping everytime they press them, and some suggest that it can be turned off in BIOS. It can also be turned off using Toshiba Assist.
Go to Start -> All Programs -> TOSHIBA -> Utilities -> Toshiba Assist -> Optimize (left side of window) -> Toshiba Hardware Settings -> "Button Setting" tab &
under "Function Button Beep" click on disabled,
apply the changes and restart the computer for changes to take effect. Hopefully, this will help people who do not want to mess with BIOS, love their Toshiba more.
Also, I was extremely impressed with Newegg, and the whole transaction. I ordered it on a Monday, and received it that Thursday. I had not expected it to arrive until the following week. It was well packaged inside another box for added protection.

5 out of 5 eggsExceeded Expectations.

Pros: -The DDR3 RAM absolutely tears through everything
-The quality on the Blu-Ray drive is perfect.
-The Touch Sensitive Media Buttons on the left side of the keyboard are very convenient and I use them often.
-The speakers are very high quality, they can handle high volumes without crackling or breaking up.
-The video card renders images beautifully; I can run all my favorite games at their highest settings while having a comfortable FPS.
-The webcam is decent quality
-The screen has 8 different levels of brightness. I've experienced no problems with a viewing angle on this computer. Maybe it's just me, and maybe I just got lucky, but the screen is great to me.
- Eco mode actually saves quite a bit of battery life, and I thank Toshiba for that.
-The battery has a decent life for a gaming computer, it's about 3 hours.
-The HDD is standard and average.
-The keys are very comfortable to type on.
-This laptop is actually quite cool. It's also very quiet while gaming, which surp

Cons: -This thing is a fingerprint/dust magnet. Don't remove the plastic surrounding the screen if you don't have to.
- The trackpad is in somewhat of an awkward place, but it just takes some getting used to.
-This isn't a con for me, but may be to someone else. For those who don't realize, this thing is a beast. It's 10.5 pounds. And it's wide.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is great. I have no regrets in buying it. It's a great laptop and I would recommend it to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsV. Good Desktop Replacement.

Pros: Replaced my old HP Centrino laptop. Bought the Professional version of Windows and did a clean install.
Very Fast. Huge. Very good looking. The graphics are outstanding.

Cons: Viewing angle of the LCD screen is not good. Not even better than my 5 year old HP. Resolution is at 1900x945 which is lower than full HD. Dirt magnet. It is not as noisy as some people have commented.

Other Thoughts: I was seriously considering the HP 18-incher. This is about $100 pricier but comes with a higher Nvidia card. If you are not into too much gaming, go for the HP. Plus the HP upgrade to Windows 7 professional is only $75. Newegg service is very good. The price dropped by $100 after I bought it. They credited me the amount along with the free shipping. They have a well deserved reputation.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not Perfect

Pros: Good looking and fast,(cpu, and gpu) Played cod MF2 without a hiccup. Battery life pretty good almost 2hrs

Cons: My biggest complaint is the screen it has very low viewing area when you looking upfront you can see that the bottom is lighter than the top I don't really like it. Also I noticed when played cod mf2 that the screed is like caching up looks like a lower gpu but it’s not the gpu I think it has to do with the screen matrix controller or something.

Other Thoughts: All together it’s a nice laptop don’t get me wrong, but I was expecting better from the screen quality. It was a good price so I’m happy, If you a hard core gamer should look elsewhere. I only gave it 3 eggs because i think that screen quality is very important in a laptop, I was working on a new gateway the other day for $700 and screen was hands down better than toshiba

3 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: This is a blazing fast rig, big and beautiful. I have had my X505-830 for about a month now and as for performance I have no complaints. This intel i720 processor seems to just cut right through everything, I have had no issues playing games like cysis and assasins creed. Also I know this doesn't have to do with the computer itself but I got to give a thumbs up to Newegg on its lightning fast delivery, im currently in the middle east and I ordered and received in less than 10 days, it was almost a scary fast delivery, good job Newegg!

Cons: on the other hand I was disappointed. As soon as I pulled it out of the box I noticed that the keys were loose and flimsy a quick sign of bad quality, and not typical toshiba. The disappointment did not stop there, I powered it up and immediately found that the semicolon key and the quotation/apos. key are reversed, when you depress one key the other character actually appears. Also the eco utility power button does not illuminate like the others, is it just not suppose to? Its just that this computer is not exactly cheap, and to have flaws like this right out of the box is crushing. I haven't decided wether or not to return it, or wait until im back state side and take it to the G squad to switch the keys. If anyone out there knows any quick fixes please let me know.

Other Thoughts: usually I would bet on Japanese products especially toshiba laptops, now not so sure.

5 out of 5 eggsBest laptop for the price

Pros: Great computer, fast processor and video, I play Battlefield 2, Halo, Urban Terror, Crysis Left 4 Dead and most of the online first person shooters. Gaming FPS is great. Have had no problems with Wi-Fi as stated in other reviews. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a gaming laptop.

Cons: Pinky hits multi-media keys sometimes when playing Battlefield and other games (WASD) I have big hands (my fault and problem but kinda irritating when in an intense battle not a computer problem).

Other Thoughts: Finger print magnet (stated by almost everyone else), I use a microfiber cleaning cloth to wipe down the computer every few days and then it shines like new.

Did a lot of research and price checking, Newegg had the best price.

Great service from Newegg: Ordered on a Monday and received laptop on Wednesday.
