4 out of 5 eggsGreat 1st Laptop

Pros: Large Screen; number pad; decent speakers; "Eco Utility" option does save a little extra battery; nicely spaced keyboard; Works much nicer than my older tower. Style wise very satisfactory. Can run games such as Guild Wars, and various other LAN or MMO games very smoothly. I haven't tried multiple instances.

Cons: USB ports sometimes glitch. As in when you plug in a mouse lets say. It will not detect connected item. You'll have to reconnect various times to recognize plug in. Yet.. I have yet to try this with another USB item. The speakers have sometimes glitched losing sound in left or right, but normally comes back within a few moments.

Other Thoughts: I got this laptop for a better deal with the extended battery with it. Yet it was a get it now or don't get a laptop at all moment. I'm definitely happy with the choice.
It does heat up a bit, but it's not extremely hot. Yet then again with the extended battery you do get a little more air flow space.

3 out of 5 eggsQuirks galore

Pros: - Fast,
- Great keyboard,
- Comes with interesting software including face-recognition login,
- Light enough,
- Round connector for the power so you won't be breaking the connector,
- Looks great,

Cons: - Doesn't like to run Linux (if you try, you will need to use acpi=off at boot),
- Comes with a lot of bloatware :(,
- Recovery media isn't supplied, you have to create your own (and then be smart enough to recover the 10Gb disk space the source files use)
- Mouse-pad blends in to the palm-rest making it annoying to use
- Gets really, really hot,
- Power-pack gets even hotter,

Other Thoughts: Battery Life: What gives? This is not a top-end 8-core i7 and the graphics card is nothing special. With max power saving you'll be lucky to squeeze 2 hours out of the battery. To get more, you have to carefully go through and strip down the bloatware :(

4 out of 5 eggsNot for Gaming

Pros: Great laptop, no problems with it so far. Runs blazing fast, and can multitask well, even with all of the bloatware.

Cons: This is NOT for gamers. It can run older games well, but for anything newer (past 5 years or so), the integrated graphics card WILL NOT be strong enough with only 32mb.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat machine - but can't install ANY Linux OS

Pros: beautiful screen, nice keyboard "touch" and layout, very fast all-around, hot-swap eSATA connector is great for external drives

Cons: I can't get any Linux boot disk to run on this machine. No Clonezilla, no Ubuntu, Fedora 13, Mint 8. Most freeze at kernel_thread_helper. I run several machines dual-boot with Windows and Linux, and hoped to get it to work on this one. Most online "solutions" involve being able to boot the machine and tweak it later. duh - it won't boot! Tried CD and flash drive installers. ...still working on it

Other Thoughts: Very glossy black case shows finger oil smudges easily - no snacking while computing! Could use another USB port or two. It has two, plus a shared USB/eSATA port

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop - Great Price

Pros: This is for sure the best laptop I've owned... Yes it's not top of the line or the ultimate gaming machine, but it has some great specs for the price. The i3, one of the best dual core processors available right now, works great with everything I've thrown at it - seems to out perform all the T, P, and E series dual cores. Can stream videos online in high def. without a problem even though it doesn't have a superb dedicated graphics card. Why go with a T6600 & DDR2 when you can get this for pretty much the same price?

Cons: No HDMI - this is really the only thing it could have, but I really don't need it so didn't it hurt my rating.

Other Thoughts: I found this same laptop in a graphite finish, looks alot better than glossy black - and no glossy keyboard! Can't stand glossy keyboards. Also, I put in a 7200RPM HDD and noticed a bit of speed increase right off. Win 7 literally boots in about 9 secs and shutsdown in about 6 secs. LOVE IT! This is my 1st PC with 7 and I'm very happy so far. Gonna upgrade the RAM to 8GB next month too and I'm sure this thing will fly. If you're thinking about getting this laptop you should go for it, I'm glad I did.

4 out of 5 eggsFast and sleek, but not flawless

Pros: The i3 along with 4 gb dd3 make this thing a monster. A few of the apps i installed went so fast it didn't even show the install progress bar. Boots up in about 45 seconds too. Runs all my web development/penetration testing software just fine.

Cons: Being as OCD as i am, i wish i would have known that this had a glossy finish. It seems to attract every piece of dust, hair, and fingerprint. Its impossible to keep clean. The glossy finish on the screen also gives you a slight reflection. There is also an extreme amount of Toshiba bloatware that you may want to install. Alot of useless apps. The only one i kept was the PC Heath Monitor. Also the keyboard takes some getting used to seeings how the little bumps on the "F" and "J" keys are very small and hard to feel. All in all this a a great machine though.
