4 out of 5 eggsGreat Desktop backup

Pros: -This is a good laptop to have as a backup to your pc or if your on the go and want to bring your video games with you.
-Many games will run on medium to high settings.
-I also watch many HD movie on this with no problem at all.
-My battery outlasts my friends laptop batteries.

Cons: -Only 3 USB ports
-No backlight keyboard
-Quite a bit of bloatware
-Touchpad is a bit dodgy at times.
-Rubber feet came off and I lost them.
-Cd drive easily opens when I put the laptop on its left side. I feel like it might break because its so flimsy.

Other Thoughts: There aren't many laptop bags/cases that will fit an 18.4" laptop. I ended up buying a "Case Logic Black 18.4" Laptop Case Model TNC-218" and because I though it runs hot a "NZXT Black Aluminum Notebook cooler w/ 3 120mm adjustable fans Model CRYO-001B".

Even without the cooler I've never seen over 65c for any component in my laptop even in summertime heat.

I don't consider this a con but I wanted to state this in my review. Fingerprint magnet so keep a good cleaning cloth in your laptop case. Also the power connection and brick are pretty big.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Powerful processor, powerful video, large screen, good sound, hdmi output, cooling fan/radiator in a good place

Cons: not enough USB ports, no bluetooth

Other Thoughts: I've been using this beast for 6 months and it has been perfect. It's so powerful that I've only been able to get the processor at 100% use when converting video formats - it's a prime candidate for virtualization. It is larger and heavier than I was expecting even though I read the specs, but I don't use it so much as a laptop as a portable computer. Oblivion plays perfectly on it, as does blu-ray. Sound is good for a laptop - there's some bass. I am disappointed that it doesn't have bluetooth (for such a complete computer, this is oddly missing), and 3 USB ports isn't enough, especially since I often plug in another keyboard and mouse and use it like a desktop. I personally don't like the keyboard this comes with but it's not a deal breaker. The keys are slick and there isn't enough tactile feedback, especially regarding the J and F keys. This is my 5 Toshiba purchase and I like that the cooling vents are in the back now instead of on the sides or bottom.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Looks great and works like a charm. No damage during shipping at all

Cons: none as fare as i can tell

Other Thoughts: The customer service was great. I was having trouble getting my card information verified but they worked with me on it. I love buying from NewEgg

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Extremely powerful machine. If you do work with programs like Reason, Guitar Pro, Photoshop, Studio Max, Pro Tools, or Tracktion then you will love this.

Cons: Finger print magnet.

Other Thoughts: It's portable... in the same sense that a tank is a portable gun...

5 out of 5 eggsToshiba Qosmio

Pros: Big! Can't believe how large this thing is! All drivers for printer and scanner loaded almost without my help. Many updates loaded quickly as soon as it found the internet, again without much help from me. The only exception was a video update which took two tries. (???)

Cons: Did NOT like some of my '90s software (Adobe Illustrator). Only three USB inputs.

Other Thoughts: This thing is fast. And big. And heavy. Even the AC power device is big and heavy. When you load your own software, don't forget to put it on the local disk (E:/), and not on the c:/ drive, or you will eat up the space on your boot drive really quick. Newegg has a case large enough for this unit, which you WILL need if you're planning on moving it anywhere besides your desk. It dazzles if you're used to seeing other laptops! The screen is large and pretty. Can't get used to its bootup and shutdown speeds...anyone in the market for a used desktop?

1 out of 5 eggsWaste money

Pros: Pros: huge screen, it is a fast machine, first time.

Cons: Cons: The performence is fine during 2-3 month except playing games, but after that, it freezes if you use it for more than an hour, expecially to play games.

Other Thoughts: Heating is really big issue if you want to play games. So it is not good enoug to play games. You should watch movies or use internet, but why you spent more than $1,000 for that simple work?

4 out of 5 eggsProduct is just what I expected.

Pros: An excellent balance of cost versus performance for the casual gamer.

Cons: You get what you pay for...

Other Thoughts: I'm a desktop guy, but I wanted to have something that I could bring with me while traveling and this laptop fits the bill. It's not a powerhouse, but it performs beautifully at moderate graphics settings on most games. I should also note that NewEgg delivered next-day and I was up and running in no time. No dead pixels. No software or startup issues.

This computer is exactly what I expected - A low cost desktop replacement that will handle gaming at medium settings and will allow for some gaming time while on the road. An excellent choice for a backup computer.

For those purchasing as your main gaming computer, you may want to spend a few hundred more and upgrade to the Q887 or Q888 with i7 processor and improved graphics.

I'm rating at 4 eggs simply because there are better performers available at a modest price increase. But overall I'm very happy with the computer that best fits my needs.

1 out of 5 eggsif u like videogames, dont buy

Pros: huge screen, it is a fast machine

Cons: freezes if you use it for more than an hour, heavy, the keyboard feels cheep, also, I think the entire line is defective. This is the second one I own in 2 months, the first one's screen went white, and the second one freezes all the time.

Other Thoughts: When I first opened the case to this comp, I was excited because of the speed of it, and how big the screen was, but after I played a few games on it the problems started, and got worse. If you play any kind of computer game, you should stay away from this computer

5 out of 5 eggsdoes the job well

Pros: I bought this laptop for school, and to replace my current gaming rig, for a laptop this handles games very well, there is much room for upgrades a few years down the road ie; CPU, Ram, and Hard drive, yes it has a second hard drive bay. It can play Fallout 3 on ultra high, with 2x antialiasing just fine. The speakers are the best i have ever seen on a laptop, great linux support in ubuntu

Cons: it still needs me to type the papers, I can't manually control the fans, but not a big issue. no DX11, but by the time it's big, I'll probably upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I'm normally a big AMD/ATI guy who normally never goes Intel/Nvidia. But as far as laptops go, I couldn't wait for mobile Phenoms with 5xxx series graphics

5 out of 5 eggsSo far a great laptop

Pros: What the specs say is what you get, great graphics card and etc. What the specs don't say is some of the great (non-bloatware) software you get. Lot of the toshiba drivers and utilities are actually useful like the eco power utility shows me the power usage of the laptop or the function button utilities which allow me to disable the function buttons or the fact that they beep by default without going into the bios, right now i have the function buttons on and the beep off, after about 48-60 hours of gaming time on the laptop I have to say the function buttons don't get in my way and the keyboard is actually pretty good. I was afraid it wouldn't be that great but its really smooth and decently non-cheap feeling to my hands which have an 8 inch width. (tip of pinky to tip of thumb) which is a large hand, this keyboard is a bit small for them but I dont find myself tripping up at all.

Cons: (non directly with laptop) I have a targus XL backpack which isn't as padded as I would like it to be. I thought I would mention this for all the lookers of this laptop that you might need small piece of packing foam or something just to make sure this thing is really secured in place. I feel like I am babying it but for 1.1k worth of computer it is the best.

Other Thoughts: After looking at gateways, levonos, dells, alienwares and even more I am happy to have bought this. I would suggest to anyone to buy this laptop. Its a great laptop and if it doesn't have what you need you should stay with the toshiba qosmio series if you want durability and performance for the best price. I had an nv7901u gateway before this which just felt cheap and even with newegg getting the product page specs wrong (increasing the quality of the laptop) i felt like i got a bad deal. I returned that laptop, before that laptop i had a toshiba satellite which held up for years, I would suggest toshiba from personal experience or levono from word of mouth. but this laptop is the best I have ever owned and I can tell it will last for a long time.
