5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've had this a little over 3 years and have had no problems whatsoever.

I doubled the RAM after a year and the only con is the heat the graphics card generates without a decent vent ( only one). I use a cooling pad but it's useless. Except for that I'm extremely happy that 3 years have gone by and I'm not in the market for another computer. I'm going to slap in an SSD this year since the 500Gb 5400RPM Samsung drive is a bit outdated. I know this product is discontinued but I do suggest looking for a similar product at a similar price ( I paid $100 less than the $899 ). Also for some reason this shipped with a better graphics card than was supposed to. I got the GeForce 350M instead of the default 330M. Incidentally this laptop was in a fire during Christmas 2011 and had tons of smoke going through it and was trampled on by NYFD ( the headboard fell on it and saved it from damage) and only needed a cleaning. I've reinstalled the OS once since I got it just to keep it fast. I can only imagine how much fun this will be with a Crucial 240 SSD

Cons: Runs hot, only one ventilation slot

Other Thoughts: Next PC will have a backlit keyboard and USB 3.0 as well as better vents. This is the closest PC for the price I could find next to a Mac. The HDMI was kind of new at the time and I jack it into the TVs and stream it all the time. It's a great machine 3 years later shows now sign of quitting. The 1st gen i7 still has it and with an SSD can see no reason why I can't get another year or two out of it.

3 out of 5 eggsGeorge Foreman

Pros: Ok this is a fantastic machine with great parts, don't get me wrong the thing can run pretty much anything you can throw at it. Any game any program, even professional modeling software like turbocad and solidworks. But like anything you can only have so much good in moderation and they overdid it with this laptop.

Cons: For the love of donuts I have no idea what toshiba was thinking on this one, "hey lets smash an i7 and a 1gb card" right next to each other and not provide something better than base cooling with it. This computer overheats unless cleaned out once a month of all dust and particles, and even then it still gets hot enough to keep you from freezing in a snowstorm on the planet Hoth. This is not a laptop people this is a very compact desktop. I advise you use it as such, keep it on a desk and don't try to carry it around. It is heavy and if you try to carry it around like I do you will have a sore back by the end of the day. It hates video drivers and likes to crash them randomly and reboot. It also will blue screen of death on you out of no where. I have already had to send it in because the video card overheated itself and burned itself out. Then I had to take it in again because it started to overheat and just shut off randomly again, but the second time it just needed to be cleaned.

Other Thoughts: Fingerprint magnet, dust magnet, web camera is terrible.

1 out of 5 eggsVery bad performance

Pros: i7 core, video card

Cons: the resolution of screen
technically, the master board of this computer might not support the i7 and the video card. though the price is a little bit low. Finally you got a trash.

Other Thoughts: this computer is a nightmare for me. The computer got bluescreen very often and final dead after about 11 month. but after their repair, only a few month later, it dad again. And the customer service is also very bad. You always need to wait for about 20-30 min.

1 out of 5 eggsToshiba Fail-

Pros: Its a beautiful laptop with buttons and gadgets galore.

Cons: I have had mine repaired by toshiba 3 times and had 1 new replacement. If you get running this laptop uploading movies and anything using much power the laptop will over heat and shut down with no warning.

I have had mine repaired 3 times and Toshiba's reply is there is not enough cooling for the I7. It was a lemon made on Toshiba's part and anyone owning this laptop should be given a refund. I have owned 6 toshiba's and this is my last. Toshiba is no longer making laptops like they use too.

I was part of the SWTOR beta testing and had to greatly cut my screen size down, turn the processor down and tweak all the settings because it was overheating (with a cooling fan) playing the game.

On my last repair the volume no longer worked, I could not power up or down with the battery in and it would shut down if I was running 2 tasks at once. No this wasn't a virus/malware, I am super picky about my PC health and do scans daily and have several programs on my pc at all times.

Other Thoughts: Toshiba should refund under the lemon law, I know its hard to prove. But this laptop is the worst design they have came up with.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for gaming.

Pros: -Windows 7 runs fantastic
-love the i7 processor
-nice nvidia graphics
-full size keyboard
-nice large screen
-decent amount of RAM
-great HD storage

Cons: Like others have said it is a fingerprint magnet. Slower 5400 HD wish it would have been a 7200. The web cam is horrible, even with every light on in my room during the day, it's still dark. Loaded with bloatware but can be removed if that kinda stuff bothers you. Battery life isn't that long so you either need to leave it plugged in or get a better battery. Does tend to get hot if you are doing a lot of gaming. Screen isn't the best resolution but, I plug it into my secondary monitor anyway so that's no really an issue for me.

Other Thoughts: I've read a lot of the reviews and I can honestly say that the only problems I've had with it is the video drivers would crash, for whatever reason it just doesn't like the newer drivers. I've never had it overheat (I'm not even using a laptop cooler) and I've never had it blue screen on me. I have it on a laptop tray and I it propped up on these 2inch brass cylinders to allow proper air flow from the vents on the bottom. I don't move the laptop often as I use it purely as my gaming machine and plug my 2nd monitor into it. I've played WOW, Crysis, EVE, Dungeon Siege III, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Anarchy Online, and a few others with no problems and on high settings.

4 out of 5 eggsExperience has been pretty good

Pros: -Runs Windows 7 very well, boot time isn't bad
-full keyboard is nice and speakers
-sound is pretty good
-monitor gives great color
-Sufficient harddrive and RAM for operating as a business production laptop

Cons: -Battery life is the one thing that is worth investing more into. the 6-cell only lasts 1.5hrs or less depending on what you are doing.
-The music/volume controls above the keyboard are a little annoying with their beeping, so i turned those off
-minor detail, but the power cord plug should be on the other side of the machine because it gets in the way for using your mouse

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this laptop. It has been very reliable for me and only has minor things that I suggest improving

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Product

Pros: Good processing power, could play high end games right off the bat, and I could even do it on a bed, with almost no circulation for the air. This thing does heat up like hell though, could burn me if I wasnt wearing pants. The battery life was abysmal but just go and buy the 12 cell Toshiba battery, it increases the battery life by a ton and it props up the laptop so there is more circulation around the back vents.

Cons: The product did BSOD right on first start up and continued to do so once in a while. The bluescreens did not happen enough to really annoy me. One screw in the back just would not come out, and this stopped me from putting my Arctic Silver around the processors. Like other reviewers said, this thing is a fingerprint magnet but honestly I don't think its such a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Pro tip: Try not to shake and jostle the laptop around when its on. It really screws with it causing it to bluescreen. And recently it started to lag a lot for games that use to not lag at all, but this was due to dust build up. After I dusted the inside of it, it worked just like it was new again. This was need about 4 months after my purchase, so I recommend dusting it out every 3 months. I also did buy a laptop cooler at the same time I dusted this thing out so if dusting doesn't help that much I'd advise getting a laptop cooler.

3 out of 5 eggsHot Machine

Pros: i7 Powerhouse
Dedicated Graphics Card

Cons: NOT a 7200 Harddrive
No Bluray
Screen Resolution a bit bad
Overheats
Heavy

Other Thoughts: Honestly, this machine only bluescreened on me TWICE and YES it's purely from overheating. The i7 + the graphics card overheats this machine so much. My laptop cooler manages to help a bit, but I'm too scared to overclock this laptop because I know it'll bluescreen and probably fry the motherboard

It's fine though, I plan on using this laptop for a while, and got a really great deal on it ($810)

2 out of 5 eggsProblems with it

Pros: Worked great in the beginning. Powerful and fast and does what we needed it to do.

Cons: After about 3 months of using it, it kept going to a blue screen and shutting itself down. After taking with the Toshiba tech support, they said it may be overheating. Now, (6 months) the screen will not even come on. Very disappointed with this machine. I have owned other Toshiba laptops in the past and are really great machines overall. Maybe this was just a bad one.

5 out of 5 eggsNvidia & I7 Powerhouse

Pros: Where can i start
-I7 really fast processor, dont let 1.6ghz fool you because its 8 threads running at that, and with turbo bust you get around 2.8ghz
-Nvidia GT330 M, this baby runs anything smoothly and in High setting, EX Starcraft 2 runs ultra, no problems 1gb dedicated and 2.7gb with share memory
-Speakers sound very nice and are amazing
-HDMI this is a must in all laptops now days, movies to my LCD 60" look gorgeous on this video card
-The black glossy finish is beautiful
-4gb ddr3 1066mghz, very good speed (wish it were 6 or 8gb)
-HDD 500gb, plenty of space for anything.
-Best machine for your money, you cant beat this
-only 6 pounds, not bad for this Power Beast
-The Trubright display, 16" must for games and movies and colors are so rich and vibran

Cons: -No bluray, i dont care but some do
-Glossy finish is nice but finger print magnet
-its kinda big, but it is a destop replacement and its lighter then the Qosmio
-Ac adapter gets really hot!!! i mean burning hot, i actually burn myself playing with it to see how long i could hold it in my hands, ouch!!
-LCD only 1366x780 or something, pretty bad, should be 1080p come on, Not LED :(
-No ssd haha but none really do come with it
-HDD 5400rpm??? come on 7200rpm is a must.
-Some bloatware

Other Thoughts: I recommend you find a way to cleanly install the OS. It will run faster, smoother and be prone to less OS problems.
Get the warranty, please, from newegg or toshiba. if you get it from toshiba its 150 for 3 years and express walk in service
Get an SSD when they go down in price.
Worth every penny.
