4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: - solid medium range hardware (2010 level)
- good speakers, keyboard, monitor, webcam. No deterioration on external
- reliable and fairly durable

Cons: - like all computers, slows down over time (but with heavy use: 8+ hours a day)
- non mechanical keyboard.
- requires cooling

Other Thoughts: Pretty satisfied with this, it's a decent machine, good for general use, but I game on it as well.

Processor is a little weak though. Still, if you have CPU intensive programs, you'll probably want to spend a bit more.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Good laptop, got this to replace my old ailing one (which I now use as a server). Decent speeds and processing for basic day to day activities, and works fairly well for gaming.

Inbuilt mic is definitely better than my old one.

You know the drill, quad core, decent video and sound cards, all the features you'd expect at this price range (webcam, mic, disc reader/writer. Easy to clean as well.

I'm writing this review now because, get this, I just spilled coffee literally all over the keyboard and some of the cooler, and absolutely nothing happened: I just wiped it off.
Will keep this up to date if something does turn up, but I just thought that was brilliant.

Cons: Slight buyers remorse: I kind of feel I should have stuck with a more powerful processor now rather than multiple ones (this computer's quad core at 1.6GHz). I won't dock it for that though, but still, if you're into processor heavy games, might want to check out some others.

Speakers make me a little nervous at higher volumes though: it jitters the computer a bit. I tend to use headphones either way.
The plastic casing is sturdy enough, but you may feel that it's "soft," and some people I know don't like that.

Also might need a cooler for higher functions during summer months.

Other Thoughts: Have had this almost exactly a year now.

Don't carry it around much, except when traveling. Take that into consideration.

5 out of 5 eggsA worthy laptop

Pros: *Has a nice high resolution widescreen monitor.
*Large amount of memory for gaming and processing
*Quad-core processor is good for this model
*1GB dedicated video card is excellent for playing high quality games.
*Lighter than my old laptop, take it to class all the time.

Cons: *Gets excessively hot, may want to invest in a cooling pad for warmer weather.
*Quad-Core processor could have been updated the the 2.0GHz+ model.
*Memory is capped and video card limited on Windows 7 32-bit edition.
*Hard Disk access is a little on the slow side, but it is fast enough for me.
*Wireless may or may not break on you after 3 or 4 months of ownership.

Other Thoughts: Wireless was easy enough to fix, but you need to watch out for the Optical Drive (CD/DVD-RW). A clean install of Windows 7 from an OEM disk may be required to fix this problem. For those who don't like home edition it seems as though Windows 7 Professional runs smoother and faster than the factory installation, so I recommend this to whoever wants to listen to me. Also had problems with audio when I first got the laptop, turns out that the audio drivers were conflicting, disabling one seems to do fix it almost instantly.

For those of you who complained about having issues with the wireless card, the website has an updated version of the drivers. That fixed my issues as soon as they started.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great notebook overall. For a laptop in this price range, the graphics are great on the dedicated card. Backlit keyboard is very nice.

Cons: I think I agree with the slow hard drive comments. I've found it to be noticeably slow.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my son for Christmas to do school work and play WoW. Office apps run fine and WoW plays fine on Ultra graphics settings.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome gaming laptop

Pros: LED Backlit keyboard, ability to switch from dedicated to integrated. Harman/kardon sound system rules! Trackpad easy to use. DVD burner. Just upgraded to 8GB. Got a 7.0 out of that. For those of you with the wireless issues, mine worked straight out of the box. Removed norton and put avast on it.

Cons: slow on bootup. An ssd should solve that issue. no bluetooth.

Other Thoughts: Doesn't overheat. Easy memory and hard drive access. 12 cell battery capable. 6.1 on cpu, 6.7 on both gaming and graphics and 5.9 on hard drive.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Laptop

Pros: Back-lit Keyboard is great for working in the dark, or dimly lit areas. Harmon/Kardon speakers are awesome! Dedicated graphics runs many games at medium settings. Good deal for the price.

Cons: Must remove Norton to get rid of the wireless issue as others have mentioned. I've since installed ESET security and have had no issues with the wireless.

Slow to start up. Considered the Core i5 with the same graphics card but cost $120 more.

1 out of 5 eggsNo video!

Pros: Quad core processor.

Cons: Video has died after two days. Screen is blank. I should have paid more attention to others stating similar problem. Time to send it back. What a shame. I have always liked Toshiba products but this one is going to make me think twice before buying another Toshiba machine.

3 out of 5 eggsOverall great

Pros: For the price and features beat all laptops here, at the time .

Cons: It's definately not perfect, at least for me. I have windows 7 warning me of hard disc problem over and over, toshiba needs better quallity checks on hard drives now. I have a toshiba 6 year old no hard drive problems.

Other Thoughts: I'd already planned on taking out the low speed / low value 5,400 rpm hard drive. And that's why only 2 eggs gone. I suggest to Toshiba get better or reinforce you're quaility checks.
