4 out of 5 eggsvery good

Pros: did a fresh install right out of the box, and i'm running ubuntu and it runs smooth had very few complaints, small and light, screen is bright, crisp, and clear. for the most part, its been great, and really everything i expected. runs fast and so far has been reliable. hdmi out plugs straight into the tv and looks good. comes with a 2gig stick and leaves one ram slot open so thats ready to upgrade and when i buy a 2gig stick will probably fix my only complaint.

Cons: a little laggy with some hd video but i think with the 2gigs of ram that will be fixed. and the battery power is short. not really a complaint though because i really knew about that before purchase, but it gets around 3 hrs.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Little Machine :)

Pros: Nice little machine and has done exactly what I expected (unlike 2 ASUS netbooks which I bought only few months before - looked nice at first but then both broke on me within a matter of just weeks)... The HDMI out is a plus for me; I use WinAMP to get the colorful visualizations on a 52 LED screen, while getting a massage from a Russian chick (costs about the same as this netbook but worth it every penny!!) Great value, would recommend to friends and family!

Cons: Some people seem to have problems with 8gb ddr3 which doesn't seem to work as it claims it will.. However, since I only use 4mb I can't complain about this. The bloatware is somewhat annoying but easy to uninstall and bluetooth would have been nice.. Regardless, its a great purchase and now also my favourite netbook so far!

Other Thoughts: Design is nice and feels heavy duty - A second HDMI out would be nice (as would be a second massage therapist :D)

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Light weight, bright screen & moves quick enough. Wanted something to stream sports/Hulu, browse the web & listen to some podcasts/music. This little guy does it all just fine. It plays solitaire well & the keyboard is has a nice feel to it.

Cons: Please take these with a grain of salt, for me these are little annoyances more than cons.

Mouse pad takes a little time to get used to. The indicator lights on the front are really bright & kind of annoying when watching in low/no light. The speakers are weak but then again it is a small note/net book. There is a fair amount of bloat preloaded on this thing. Some keys are really small. Battery life probably could be better.

Other Thoughts: I've had this comp. just over a week & really like it; let's hope it stays that way. I took it on a 72 hr. Amtrak ride it it was almost perfect (the indicator lights are bright at night). I bought this to replace an old Dell laptop & to fit in with a newer desktop. All I really wanted was something for browsing the web & watching Hulu/ESPN3 while my wife does her school/work stuff on the desktop.

While I didn't have the highest expectations when I bought the T215 I'm glad I did. It's in a weird place when considering pricing & specs; could get a 15in. for a few dollars more but I didn't want anything that big, nor anything smaller than this.

I did purchase an additional 2gigs (making it 4gigs) of RAM & installed it before I turned it on, so I can't comment on the difference. 4 seems good though.

I like this comp. a lot but I don't think I would recommend it for playing games outside of solitaire or Mahjong.

1 out of 5 eggsIn addition to the review earlier

Pros: none

Cons: So I found out the supported ram speed. Tested both PC3-8500 and PC3-10600 for descent amount of times. The max CL is 6-6-6-15 which is not what Toshiba said to me. Talking about it supports any speed of ddr3 ram from Toshiba, this thing doesn't even let PC3-8500 to fully perform which is really a shame. Plus the tech support is a truly a JOKE!

Other Thoughts: Choose wisely people. Spec on the paper isn't the answer. My dream of playing some descent games with flying speed of 8GB ram is gone. I'm giving this laptop to my sister putting the original 2GB ram back in it. I'm going to seek another option and Toshiba is certainly not on my list and not ever again.

3 out of 5 eggsRAM RAM RAM

Pros: AMD K325. thats about it.

Cons: THIS THING WILL NOT SUPPORT 8GB PROPERLY! I have gone through 3 different sets of ram. Toshiba tech support is a group of clowns were just taught to read the manual, talking about memory doesn't have any speed and literally didn't know what cas latency was. Called them 8 times, no one was helpful in any kind of way what so ever. Just like Jeff guy right below me said, this goes well with any smaller size of ram than 8Gb.

Other Thoughts: This is the kind if defect to see from some unknown chines bootleg company not Toshiba. My first experience with them have gone really bad. Disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This computer is Great I've had one of them since the first week they came out. I just now ordered a second one because I love it so much. Its light and fast for just having a AMD 1.3 in it you would never know. I have upgraded it to the 4gb on both of them like everyone else seems to have done, highly recommended by the way. This keyboard is great by the way it took some getting use to at first because I have never typed on a keyboard like this but its great. Like some people the sound from the speakers is actually very good compared to some laptops I've been on. Also the Sleep and Charge port is great once I figured out its not all of them that can do it its on the ESATA that will let you charge when you have it shut down or in sleep. Will let you play games mostly on lower graphics but it plays Borderlands pretty good. About the heat that everyone is talking about yeah it does get hot in the bottom left hand corner but really if your doing lots with the CPU and the GPU

Cons: Sorry I ran out of room in the pros column so I'm going to continue down here. When I mean hot more like a nice hand warmer when your gaming more so then anything or doing lots of typing or you have it on your lap and your covering up the fan then it will get hot. Ok now onto the cons this thing is loaded with bloatware get rid of it because its all junk and takes up space. The chrome on it is nice looking but its a figure print magnet and I'm always cleaning it. I do with the Battery lasted longer I average about 3 to 4 hours I'm sure if I adjusted the setting a bit more I could get more juice out of it but I like the screen a bit brighter sometimes. The LED lights for the hard drive and charging are way to bright gets annoying when you set it on your night stand and thats all you can see when your siting there trying to sleep.

Other Thoughts: Despite the few cons I have the pros are far more then then cons. I love this little thing it is the second Toshiba that I've owned and the other one was a 15 in one that I just got tired of lugging around because I do lots of traveling. If your looking for something light portable and actually has some power to it and don't want to break the bank this is the computer for you. Trust me you wont be disappointed unless your just super picky or just happen to get that one thats not perfect when you get it. Oh one other thing if you upgraded it to the 4gb of memory you will get an Areo score of 2.9. For some reason when you get the computer the ATI graphic card drivers Are going to need to be upgraded so if you go on Toshiba's web site and download the latest ATI Graphic Drivers you will boost that score to 3.2.

2 out of 5 eggsFollow-Up Review

Pros: As I had posted previously

Cons: System does NOT seem to support 8GB of RAM as specified by Toshiba's documentation. Not sure if it's a BIOS Flaw or a defect...but it'll work with 2GB (stock), 4GB, or 6GB, but if you install 8GB it will not even POST.

Other Thoughts: Toshiba's support is a joke. Level 2 Support is achived only by call-back, and I'm on my 3rd day (so far)...

I've gone through 3 sets of RAM and 2 laptops (thanks to NewEgg for making returns an easy process!), all with the same result.

Other than this issue, it's a nice laptop...just irks me to no end that they would state it will run 8GB RAM, and yet it won't.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little System!

Pros: It's quickly too, so far has done everything I could ask of a PC, let alone a laptop, let alone a netbook. Screen is crisp and clear, keyboard has a good feel to it and isn't too small. Touchpad isn't too touchy! Friend of mine has a Dell Mini 10...this blows it out of the water in every way imaginable... Connected it to my TV via HDMI and was watching youtube videos via wireless LAN the first night. I bought this mainly as a musicians-practice tool - as a drummer, it's difficult to stop and rewind music without having to get up...this does the trick, and then some. Headphone output is nice and loud too! Memory and HDD are easily accessible/removable...comes with 1x2GB stick, and an empty slot, so adding more is easy (though I plan to go ahead and max it out at 8GB). Mic input can be set as a line-in with L/R). Headphone out can be set as a line-out.

Cons: I noticed there's a whine/buzz/high-pitched hum when you've got headphones on and nothing is playing. Seems to be related to the LCD panel...(see below). Built in speakers are horrible...but I don't know of any that are "better', netbook or laptop.

Other Thoughts: In an effort to resolve the hum issue, I did a system restore - I noticed once the video driver loaded, it started, but until then, it was quiet. I imagine the screen is noisy at higher resolutions.
It also comes with a LOT of bloatware/trailware. I spent the first couple hours with it removing software titles...Too bad you can't do a non-bloat/trialware system restore...since it installs the apps after it reloads the partition.
I'd put off getting a laptop for a while because I figured I couldn't find a "use" for it, I seem to be finding plenty of uses for this one! Seems to be a great little system.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Dual Core
Dedicated Graphics
Mutiple USB

Cons: Only 1 Gig of Ram
Gets hot

Other Thoughts: After doing an insane amount of research I finally bit the bullet and purchased this machine. Let me start by saying I increased the ram to 8gigs and put in a Patriot Inferno SSD this thing flies boots to windows in 15sec. Now the bad new DO NOT BUY THIS IF U WANT TO STREAM 1080P VIDEO. I have over 300 HD movies on my server and cant stream any of them. I did my homework and nowhere did it say apparently plays 720p fine but i have yet to try it. You would think with this kind of hardware that 1080p shouldn't be a problem. Toshiba need to update this on their website. Also get pretty warm but nothing you cant live with.

4 out of 5 eggsNice small laptop

Pros: This laptop is very lightweight and quiet. The screen is a good resolution so that it's crisp but text isn't too small. The battery charges fairly quickly to near full. It seems to have enough horsepower to stream video and have several windows open at once. The bloatware was not too heavy and seems to have uninstalled cleanly.

Cons: The LEDs are a bit bright and, even when closed, if it's plugged in, the two remaining LEDs can almost light up a dark room.

Other Thoughts: It seems like a great buy. I'll update more if anything changes.
