What a Disaster
- Pros: This laptop gets looks anywhere you take it. I always end up in a conversation about it while using it. It has a great curved keyboard and the voip phone and camera is a nice bonus. Grid vista works pretty well with an external monitor. Computer is very fast. I actually like this laptop. I love what it should be...but, it does not deliver...
- Cons: Received laptop and within one week, it had a video card issue that prevent it from booting up. And it would blue screen(die) almost everytime you tried to boot it up. Acer said to do a restore - that did not fix it. Sent to Acer repair depot - received it back unrepaired. Sent it again. Still not repaired. Third time, they replaced the on-board video. That fixed the video issue. They did not reassemble the unit properly and the Wifi slide switch was jammed in the off position - meaning I could not activate the wifi. I had to disassemble the laptop to get the switch free. Today I am still dealing with it cannot handle any kind of hibernate, suspend or loss of power...it always enters the disccheck blue screen upon booting after any of these occur. Also, it will disccheck 50% of the time after a normal shut down. This issue was never fixed. Cannot boot it up while connected to Acer port replicator - it will hang during boot everytime. Ferrari mouse is too heavy to use.
- Other Thoughts: More, the glare on the screen is almost unbearable unless you are in the dark. The heat produced by this laptop is nearly unbearable for a right handed external mouse user. If you place your hand on the right side of the laptop to use a mouse - forgettaboutit. Use it on an airplane with earbuds and enjoy the poking of your stomach by the earbud plug...why do they put these on the front instead of the side?? Ferrari sound effect at boot up is neat - but more likely a nuisance. Boot this laptop up in a public place and pray you remembered to lower the volume before your last shutdown...VRRRROOOMMMM!
amazing LCD and performance
- Pros: By far, the highest resolution LCD (1680X1050)for 15.4'. Vivid color and fast response time. Nice keyboard and webcam. Fast Fast...
- Cons: 64bit CPU doesn't come with 64bit OS. Can't fully unleash the power of AMD Turion 64x2
- Other Thoughts: Since the Hitachi 200GB 7200RPM HD is available now. I wonder if ACER will upgrade or not
Crazy!
- Pros: Great!
- Cons: Kind of large, gets a little hot after using for 45minutes-1hour, but thats normal. Nothing a good laptop cooler can't fix.
- Other Thoughts: This laptop is the fastest laptop i have ever bought! I've bought a Dell XPS m1710, and an Alienware and this one is just crazy! I'm a big gamer, programmer, and a Graphics Editor. I was running Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photoshop CS3, CS:S, and Microsoft Visual C++, and surfing the net to test it out. Wow! Just, wow...this thing had no lag at all whatsoever.
