Excellent Laptop
- Pros: Excellent laptop once you remove Vista, people who say there is no XP support don't know what they're talking about
- Cons: It's not a gaming laptop, but I use it for college and it performs exceedingly well for that, and it runs older games fine
- Other Thoughts: I didn't get mine from newegg and mine came with a gig of ram, but otherwise same product and I haven't had a problem with it while running XP - Just make sure to go to the Acer site and find the XP drivers and remove Vista and you'll enjoy it as much as I am, although you may want to look into a ram upgrade if you're running anything intensive on it
Good hardware. Pirate vista? lol
- Pros: About a month after I bought it Vista came up saying it was not valid, soon I couldn't even boot into Windows. Since XP isn't supported, I installed Ubuntu Linux on it and everything loaded up just fine. I ended up having to add a new wifi card due to the supplied one not working in Linux (probably would, just didnt feel like messing with it) Linux runs at light speed on this laptop and can run XP under Wine for all my windows apps like quickbooks and such for school.
- Cons: Newegg sells great notebooks, ACER just needs to learn how to install a OS that doesn't turn the computer into a big doorstop after a month.
- Other Thoughts: Super awesome laptop under Linux, wont take XP because of hardware driver issues (which linux fixes) And the Vista thats installed runs like a pile on 512 ram and will go invalid after a short time.
Good Laptop
- Pros: I'm using this for college. Not gaming! The wifi card is great. Okay battery life. Vista looks great.
- Cons: Comes with Norton 2007 installed. I got rid of that and used AVG and now its ten times faster. I got one dead pixel, but it doesn't bother me that much.
- Other Thoughts: Right out of the box I dropped in 2 gigs. This way windows doesn't see a hardware change. I would hate to see what it runs like without 2 gigs of ram. My Ram score from vista was a 4.9
I dropped in a dual channel kit of crucial. I got the ram from newegg. I used the Memory Configurator on Newegg and my ram installed without a hitch.
The hard drive comes with 2 partitions.
