Awesome little Notebook!!
- Pros: The screen is nice and clear, nice keyboard layout, This machine runsnice and smooth. Comes with 1GB unlike some of the other Acer's out there that only come with 512MB.
- Cons: None, this is great for everyday computer users. Like others have said, it is not a gaming machine.
- Other Thoughts: People often say that 1GB is not enough RAM for Vista to run on. I have a different thought on this. First off, of course the more RAM you have with Vista (Or any O/S for that matter) the better, but I have found that 1GB is plenty if you disable and uninstall all of that garbage that Acer loads onto it. When you do this, you will be surprised how well 1GB does on Vista. I have ordered three of these now for my customers and they are very happy with them.
fuctional and cheap
- Pros: feels light. battery life is good (maxed it to 3:45 stock). case texture is smooth. Meets my needs. Function keys everywhere.
- Cons: (more cons then pros but i still like it) Three USB connects i don't more but more would be nice anyway. Hard drive doesn't show up on XP installation, downgrading this laptop requires a new laptop hard drive (hard drive type ATA) touch pad acts like a laser mouse with bad battery.
- Other Thoughts: speakers aren't very loud (meh no biggy)purchased for writing. (++++++Vista kills keygens and cracks++++++)

As Expected from Acer!
- Pros: Great design, nice feel to keyboard, have not experienced touchy mouse (as described in other reviews), nice sound speakers, shape image and resolution on screen. For this price?? Awesome machine! Acer always delivers results.
- Cons: VISTA!!! my oh my... 20 minutes before first start-up was completed. This was AS delivered by the company. All sorts of processes of optimizing, setting themes, defining accounts and... I did not even interfere in this process. VISTA took control of the box and I did not like it at all. Once ready, I timed it...47 seconds before a double click on 'My computer' loaded the next window. I deleted the entire system and got a blasting XP box now!
Other con: Fan controller does not work after Standby. System overheats and turns off without notice. Fix?? have not found yet, some forums online suggest flashing BIOS. But it does not disturb me since turning the box off and on is just a matter of seconds with this sprinter!
- Other Thoughts: DELETE vista!! if you really want a stress free box, delete vista. Take the XP CD (Home of professional), DELETE ALL PARTITIONS that are currently present, create a new one or ones, install XP, get a CD with drivers for this model (search google) and you are ready to rock!
Also, upgrade to 2 GB RAM. Memory banks are cheap for Acer compared to others.
Wonderful
- Pros: Good battery life, reasonable price, lightweight, crystal clear screen. Very peppy for a Celeron.
- Cons: No card reader, Windows Vista, harddrive partitioning scheme. GMA X3100. Says 8mb - 358mb video memory, but I can't figure out how to increase it beyond 8mb.
- Other Thoughts: With 1gb ddr2-667, this laptop lacks sufficient memory to run Windows Vista smoothly. For little money that problem can be corrected though. The 2.0ghz Celeron-M 550 it comes with is a Merom core processor, which from my understanding is based off the Conroe core. Card readers can be had for $10-$40, so not really a con...just be careful what brand you buy. All in all, a very good buy for those who just need a laptop for web-browsing or multimedia on the go. Even plays HD video reasonably well for a Celeron. The GMA X3100 leaves a bit to be desired, but it's only an issue if you're a gamer. Acer definitely went the extra mile to build a beautifully performing laptop at a very cost-effective price.
