Very Pleased so far!
- Pros: Very quick for the price. 17 inch monitor a huge plus. Speakers are even really good for a laptop. Vista might even be growing on me thanks to this laptop! Runs photoshop no problem. Very responsive, no incidents yet where I was sitting here wondering what was going on. WiFi fast as can be (obviously depending on your network). Built in webcam makes me ask "who needs an apple?"
- Cons: a LITTLE bulky, but not really. It's a 17" monitor after all, you're not getting it to be sleek and small. There's a bunch of Acer software preloaded that I'm trying to figure out why I need, but that's definitely the norm for any PC Laptop. Easy enough to uninstall if I decide to do so.
- Other Thoughts: I'm really happy with this. It was a huge step for me to buy a build with Vista, because every computer I've seen run Vista has been bogged down to heck, but I have been very satisfied with how quick this bad boy runs. FYI, Vista rates its performance at a 4.5 out of ten. The low scores were memory clocks per second and desktop graphics. And, from a diehard XP guy: Vista ain't that bad of an OS either!
Incredible deal
- Pros: This is probably one of the best laptop computers you can get for the money. The 17" screen is a great plus especially if it's just going to be sitting on a desk, and it gives the keyboard room for a numberpad if you need that kind of thing. The GeForce 8600M GT is awesome. It plays Team Fortress 2 with settings on high and still with a higher framerate than my old laptop (which also had a dedicated card).
Vista is great, despite what others may say. From the networking to the search functions to the looks, it's all a great step up from XP. You won't have any performance problems with it on this machine.
The outside is a beautiful glossy black, while the inside is a solid off-white. I think it looks great.
- Cons: The speakers are pretty bad. They crackle constantly when playing lower sounds. Just get a decent pair of headphones and you're set. No one wants to hear the game you're playing anyway. I do still use the speakers, though, so don't feel like this is a breaking point. Just expect it.
I'd prefer actual volume buttons, but the dial actually controls the Windows software volume, as opposed to the hardware volume, so that works out fine. The included software seems like it might be potentially useful, but I've uninstalled or turned off pretty much all of it, as it does not serve my purposes.
- Other Thoughts: There is room for a second SATA laptop hard drive, for those who are wondering. I have one installed right now, taken from my old dead laptop.
The included hard drive comes partitioned into two partitions, for some reason. Thankfully, Vista can remedy this pretty easily.

So Far, So Good
- Pros: Good bang for the buck as this laptop has many features that other brands don't have in this tier of pricing. The 17" widescreen is glossy looks really good (haven't had a problem with glare yet), the speakers sound good, the keyboard is good size and has a quality feel, all the fans have been quiet and I haven't noticed it getting really hot as with other laptops I've used. Has USB ports on both sides.
- Cons: I find the volume knob misplaced on the side. I'd prefer to have a rotary dial on the top.
- Other Thoughts: So far I'm very satisfied with this product.
- Pros: Big bright screen. Enough machine to easily handle Vista. Setup took about 20 minutes (updates).
- Cons: Heavy, but I did buy this for my girlfriend as an alternative to a regular desktop pc.
- Other Thoughts: First laptop I've ever bought personally (but I support them at work)... been in desktop support since 1997. Anyway, this thing scored me some points :-)
- Pros: Very Fast - Good Video
- Cons: Speakers sound terrible - crackling - cuts out randomly and the longer it's on the worse it gets - sent it back - Newegg said it was fine - This is awful - Very disappointed.
- Other Thoughts: Would be great if it weren't for the terrible audio
