4 out of 5 eggsprice drops further

Pros: made my wife very happy as a desktop replacement. mostly used for browsing the net, video chatting and streaming videos.

Cons: nope for the price range.

Other Thoughts: unfortunately, newegg.com don't have the price guarantee thingy.

now i know (twang!) the difference between fry's and newegg.

i learned it the hard way.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!!!!!

Pros: Price? Newegg was good... and fast.

Cons: See below

Other Thoughts: I read a ton of good reviews so I bought it... and now i wish my 9 year old dell still worked. It constantly turns itself off (probably trying to go into sleep mode) and can't recover...I have to take the battery out to get it to turn back on. The touch pad is awful...you can press the same spot several times in a row and the cursor will jump around the screen. The wireless internet and my router can't seem to cooperate for more than an hour at a time. Im sure I can spend hours on the phone with someone from overseas and get these kinks out but I really don't feel like doing that. I like the computer itself...but these glitches are very frustrating and are things I would expect on an old computer... not one fresh out of the box.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for little $$

Pros: For $450, this laptop is FAST.
Vista Ratings:
CPU: 4.7 (5.8 in Vista x64!)
RAM: 5.9
HDD: 5.8

The cardreader reads SDHC cards.
Plays 720p H.264 video flawlessly.

Cons: Graphics: 3.2
Gaming : 3.0
None of the connections are on the back--having all of them on the front and sides is a little bit awkward, especially if you need to use firewire.

Other Thoughts: The drivers on Acer's site are outdated. If you're going to format it, burn the system restore DVD's (2) and write down all of the driver version numbers first.

I was down to either this one or an Eee PC with XP.

4 out of 5 eggsWhat a deal

Pros: Small and fast! You should probably get a core 2 duo but for only $450 you cant go wrong.

Cons: I bought this laptop for 450, then it went out of stock. Now its in stock and for $600. Comes with a lot of crapware.. I disabled it all.

Other Thoughts: If you want to play some games with this laptop buy another stick of 2gb and you should be able to play older and some newer games on low settings without jitters.

4 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck

Pros: I use it for school and does everything I ask it do

Cons: It does not look as flashy as other laptops like Dells laptops, not much as far as battery time, but it's not the laptop's fault

Other Thoughts: I got this laptop for $400.00 and was at first a little scared that it came with Vista, but after using it the laptop seems to run Vista smoothly, I can get a little over 2 hours on the battery. Rumor is they are coming out with a battery that can double the time. At idle it is using 35% of memory, but I knew Vista is a memory hog, whatever you do you need at least 2GB of memory, I know they are selling laptops with 1GB but could not imagine trying to run Vista with that. Also I was a little leary about getting an Acer as they are known to be on the low end but this one has been great and will not have an issue with purchasing an Acer in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsWas Great at 450

Pros: - Keyboard is nice and responsive.
- Vista Home Premium, at least they opted for something more than Basic.
- Screen is neither too small nor too big. Just the right size.
- 4 USBs, WiFi, SD reader, and etc. Very nice features for the price ($450).
- Pretty speedy computer.
- Battery Life around 3 hours (at around %15) with very minimal programs running and dim brightness. I think 3 hours is reasonable. You can get around 4 but that requires completely draining your battery, which is not advised if you want to kill it within 6 months.
- DVD burner / reader
- ATI and not Intel integrated graphics card.
- I like the business look of the laptop

Cons: - Speakers are dinky, get ready to carry some headphones.
- Screen is acceptable. Viewing angels are so-so and the screen is not very good at displaying black when playing videos. Dark scenes are very washed out.
- Bloatware, 80 running processes out of the box. Reformatting and doing a clean install drops it down to 37.
- 2 hour battery life if you don't try to conserve.
- Does not come with a recovery disk, you have to burn your own.

Other Thoughts: As I write this review, Newegg has done away with the $450 deal on this laptop. For without a doubt, the price cut on this laptop was a huge reason it has been getting excellent reviews based on a price versus performance rating, as reviewers generally forgave this laptop's short comings due to its very low price tag.

So at 600 again, overall it's *alright* for the price. At 450 it was an absolute steal.

For you gamers out there. I tried playing World of Warcraft on this thing, and while it DID WORK, it wasn't pretty. You have to play on the lowest resolution to get an acceptable frame rate, but you know what happens then, everything becomes blurry since you're not playing on the laptop's native resolution. You definitely can play some old school games on it though, Starcraft, Diablo 2 and etc.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Notebook

Pros: Full Featured with 120 HDD, 1.9 Processor, Bluetooth, wireless 802.11b/g WLAN, Card Reader, DVDr, Crystal Clear Display, runs Windows Vista very well. Good for medium range gaming. Great Price for all the features it has.

Cons: Acer puts alot of junk not needed but all you need to do is DELETE/UNINSTALL IT. Having to create your own Factory Defalt Disk, not terrible but wish it had come with it.

Other Thoughts: Have 2 DVDr disks, otherwise it will take 10 CDr disks to create the Factory Default Disk. Easy to create though. 14.1" Display is perfect size for Notebook, whats the point in having larger bulk when you want something mobile and small. Actually wanted to get the Acer One with Windows XP but Newegg only had the White version, I wanted the Blue Version then saw this. Glad I did! Very Happy with the Product and Delivery. Ordered on Monday and received Tuesday, Free Shipping too. Newegg/UPS Rockin' Rollers. I'm One Happy Camper!

2 out of 5 eggsit's too expensive for such characteristics...

Pros: it is not too big and is still very easy to carry around, but it doesn't cost $600.

Cons: it's over its price. definitely.

5 out of 5 eggsDont hesitate

Pros: This is probably everything you really need in a laptop, it plays some older games but any real gaming should be left to the desktop. I am a college student and i bought this mainly for internet browsing and writing papers. I almost decided on a netbook but i am glad i didnt. $449 for this hardware is a steal and vista runs pretty smoothly. I know im gonna install a 2gb stick for 3 total. You can never have enough ram. this is also a quite operator and doesnt get to hot compared to my last HP (celeron prescott).

Cons: im not sure i like some of the aesthetic options like ridges on the battery.

Other Thoughts: This really has everything that you need. Buy one, even at the 600 dollar price point. This is way better then a netbook

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: This has been an excellent computer. I like the screen size because it is not too big and is still very easy to carry around, but is not so small that it is hard to use. Computer is very functunal, and I actually like the Windows Vista that comes with it. The wifi is nice to have when you are traveling.

Cons: The ethernet port stopped working within the first twenty days, but Newegg was quick to fix the problem. The battery life on it could be better, but all laptops are that way. If you put the computer on powersaver when it is not plugged in it will last longer.

Other Thoughts: I have not had the computer for that long, but I really love it so far. I am glad to see that I bought it before the price went up, but it is an excellent computer with plenty of memory and it is actually pretty fast.
