Horrible Service, shoddy quality
- Pros: Small, light and looks cool. It's poor quality. I bought 3 of these, and out of the 3, 2 had warped cases. I sent one in for repair (see story below) and after what happened with that one, I asked the retailer to take the other 2 back. They made an exception and did.
- Cons: Mine was broken out of the box - the case was warped. I called in and the recording said to submit a request online, because it would be faster. So I did. 3 days later, I finally get a reply from my online submission informing me that I have to call in. I call in and they tell me that I have to pay to ship the unit into the repair facility. I consider simply returning the product, but the 3 days it took the online center to respond had pushed me past the 14 day return window. So I pay the money to send the product that was defective (warped case can't have been shipping damage) into the repair center. 2 weeks later I get it back, and they've replaced the warped base, and in doing so broken the top of the case so that it no longer snaps down tight. I call in again. The rep, without even waiting to see what is wrong or how he can help me, tells me he has to schedule a call back from a level 2 support rep. He is completely disinterested in helping me.
- Other Thoughts: Long story short, out of the 4 people I've spoken with at Acer (2 of which were supervisors), NONE of them had any interest in helping me. BOTH "supervisors" treated me as if it were MY fault they'd shipped a defective product, and that it was my fault that their repair depot had broken it when I sent it in. I've paid $350 for Acer to NOT be able to use my Aspire One for the first 6 weeks I've had it, and I had to pay shipping the first time, and then repack it myself and take an hour of my time to run it down to FedEx the second time. No offer of extending the warranty, or any offer of compensation for my time and money I've wasted on this low quality company and low quality product. Buy the Asus - Acer doesn't want you as a customer.
Decent netbook
- Pros: Great price! Good set of features, fast processor with HT, able to handle many things without slowdown, my advise is that you remove EVERYTHING you wont need, because in the end it will slow the computer down and with a small machine like this its nice to get everything out of it you can.
- Cons: Small res screen, can get annoying, low webcam res, left/right click buttons feel "weird" at first
- Other Thoughts: Please anyone who has one make sure to update the bios to the latest as of this entry to V.3305. SOLVES SCREEN FLICKER, LOUD FAN, SHUTOFF ISSUES and other misc. things. Flash bios straight from windows with winflash

ACER ASPIRE
- Pros: EASY TO SET UP,HAS WIRELESS BUILT IN WENT ON LINE ON THE ROAD INSTANTLY,WINDOWS XP,REAL NICE RESOLUTION..A REAL STEAL AT 299.99
- Cons: NON YET
Acer Asprire One
- Pros: Ok...For a netbook this machine rocks. You can surf the web w/ ease. The Win XP is very stable and runs well on this netbook. Ubgrade the explorer to Internet Expl 8 and you are good to go. Size is wonderful. I have a Blackberry phone which can be hooked up to it for mobile surfing on the road. Runs as fast as it does on wifi at home when on the road. Bought extra batter that gives this 9 hours run time from go-gopower.com for $68. I highly recommend this add on.
Webcam is very good (use SKYPE for even better quality)
- Cons: Fingerprint central. You will need wipes (not a big con, though). Battery that comes with it sucks (but again you can get the awesome 9 hour one for $68)
- Other Thoughts: The Pros outweigh the cons. I bought an 8 GB thumbdrive for $15 and it takes care of the lack of a dvd/cd drive. I HIGHLY recommend this netbook. Great toy. This gets a five in my book...
Cant beat the price....
- Pros: Compact, light, Intel Atom (2 cpu's), superb wireless range, sd slots, 3 usb's, vga (out)....the list goes on and on.....
- Cons: Poor battery life, but what can you expect when the divice is sooo TINY... Fingerprint magnet....you can use any kind of wipes to clean them off.....Ram can only be upgraded to 1.5gb.. I dont recommend taking the laptop apart to upgrade the ram.. I did it and could barely see the diffrence in speed. Note: You can easily damage the internal parts if you dont know what your doing....
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this item from e bay due to the fact that at the end of the auction the only bid that was on the sellers list was mine..so I ended up paying 135.00$....I guess I got lucky this time...normally they dont go for less than 250.00$ My sister saw this netbook and fell in love...Now she wants me to get one for her...
On a side note... This netbook can be overclocked but beware!! It will void the warranty and it will overheat if you dont know what you are doing.. I just use a big house fan and use speedfan to monitor the temps..At this moment somehow i got it oc'ed to 2.0 Ghz stable on air...Im a little picky as far as speed goes....This netbook is currently being used for e-mail, surfing the web and monitoring 2 wireless security webcams for my office...
