5 out of 5 eggsI love my little ACER!

Pros: I've owned mine literally since the day they came out. After 3 years, the thing still runs like a champ. I've never had any problems with it. Its had everything from the stock XP to more than a handful of Linux distro's on it.

Cons: The keyboard is finally starting to not work, but for as much use and abuse its gone through, it's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: I have had to replace the hard drive, but thats from over 20 chest high drops to the floor, and I'm 6 foot tall. I've traveled all over with it, used it on a daily basis, and have had zero complaints on it. Now its job is mainly running streaming videos hooked up to a bigscreen TV. When I need a laptop out of the house, I find myself grabbing this before my 17" newer laptop I can only get about 1 hour out of the battery now with Ubuntu, still no compaints on that though.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going

Pros: After two years still going good, but had to do a full reinstall finally after too many viruses and trojans; am writing this to say that the ACER reinstall worked perfectly. I was worried about not having the WinXP disc, but there is a secret partition that allows you to do a full reinstall. The only hiccup was having to rediscover the odd factory setting that turns off the WiFi when unplugged.

Cons: just the short battery life

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Asprire One

Pros: Ok...For a netbook this machine rocks. You can surf the web w/ ease. The Win XP is very stable and runs well on this netbook. Ubgrade the explorer to Internet Expl 8 and you are good to go. Size is wonderful. I have a Blackberry phone which can be hooked up to it for mobile surfing on the road. Runs as fast as it does on wifi at home when on the road. Bought extra batter that gives this 9 hours run time from for $68. I highly recommend this add on.
Webcam is very good (use SKYPE for even better quality)

Cons: Fingerprint central. You will need wipes (not a big con, though). Battery that comes with it sucks (but again you can get the awesome 9 hour one for $68)

Other Thoughts: The Pros outweigh the cons. I bought an 8 GB thumbdrive for $15 and it takes care of the lack of a dvd/cd drive. I HIGHLY recommend this netbook. Great toy. This gets a five in my book...

5 out of 5 eggsCant beat the price....

Pros: Compact, light, Intel Atom (2 cpu's), superb wireless range, sd slots, 3 usb's, vga (out)....the list goes on and on.....

Cons: Poor battery life, but what can you expect when the divice is sooo TINY... Fingerprint can use any kind of wipes to clean them off.....Ram can only be upgraded to 1.5gb.. I dont recommend taking the laptop apart to upgrade the ram.. I did it and could barely see the diffrence in speed. Note: You can easily damage the internal parts if you dont know what your doing....

Other Thoughts: I purchased this item from e bay due to the fact that at the end of the auction the only bid that was on the sellers list was I ended up paying 135.00$....I guess I got lucky this time...normally they dont go for less than 250.00$ My sister saw this netbook and fell in love...Now she wants me to get one for her...

On a side note... This netbook can be overclocked but beware!! It will void the warranty and it will overheat if you dont know what you are doing.. I just use a big house fan and use speedfan to monitor the temps..At this moment somehow i got it oc'ed to 2.0 Ghz stable on air...Im a little picky as far as speed goes....This netbook is currently being used for e-mail, surfing the web and monitoring 2 wireless security webcams for my office...

5 out of 5 eggsThis is an ACE

Pros: Just a great little machine. I got it for my wife becuase she don't like looking into my 22 wide acer monitor, somwething about headaches!!! She loves her little portable though. Takes it most places throughout the house. For her web browsing and email traffic it is the perfect machine. Once I set it up for remote printing I was the hero of the world.... But it was a good bargain for the money. I did buy an extra 1 gig of ram though. Thried it out before ram insert and after ram insert, B-I-G difference, so I recommend the extra ram.

Cons: More of a caution than a con. Be vewy-vewy careful when installing the ram chip. THe retaining clips for the touch screen and the keyboard ribbons are small and easily breakable. I managed to get the keyboard ribbon set back in place, bit the touch screen is non-ops. But my wife likes her usb mouse anyways.

Other Thoughts: As usaual NEWEGG has the best thing going on the net.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Aspire One 8.9" AWESOME!!

Pros: i have been admiring these little netbooks for almost a year. but messing around with them in retail stores that do not have them connected to the are unable to appreciate this powerfully small machine. i FINALLY got my hands on one more than a week ago and have been using it more than my desktop(m2n-sli, amd X2 5200+ 2.84GHz, 3GB ram 8600GT NVIDIA) this little Acer runs full screen Netflix streaming videos beautifully, loads myspace and its apps(Overdrive, Mobsters, etc..) quick fast and easy. Not blazing fast mind you....but better than i had expected after reading others reviews. I couldnt ask for anything better in such a small package. Actually typing this review on it right now

Cons: None really...keyboard is something to get used to. but do realize the size of the machine that you are using compared to this 8.9" NETbook. key word here is in the title of this small Acer. It is meant to surf the net on the go. Not run 15 applications at the same time. Surf the net, type up some notes for class or touch-up a research paper before turning it in. If you need more computing power then PLEASE get a bigger, more powerful LAPTOP that is designed to do some extreme multi tasking. Dont take notches away from this great computer

Other Thoughts: no i did not buy this from newegg...ONLY ONLY reason being is i work at Wal of Mart and get a discount. This Acer One NETBOOK is wonderful. Does everything i need it to and some. Intel Atom was a small concern for me...but has proved itself. The graphics are sufficient and get the job done. will be upgrading the battery to a 9-cell soon which increases life from 2hrs to about 12hrs. OH..and this thing IS uppgradable to 1.5GB Maybe 2GB RAM. Search Acer One Memory Upgrade. VIDEO IS THERE ON NET!!

4 out of 5 eggsNice screen and overall

Pros: Nice screen. It is very easy to see things, which surprised me, given the size of the screen. The image is crisp and clear, and does not tire my eyes. The keyboard is OK, another 1/2 might improve it for me, but everyone's fingers are different. It boots quickly, and is still faster than my 8 year old laptop. The hard drive has plenty of space.

Cons: The memory cannot be upgraded, which was confirmed by Acer. The specs here and on other sites led me to believe otherwise.
The 2 hours or so of use without a battery is not as much as many other netbooks are rated.

Other Thoughts: It is a nicely finished product. I only looked at an HP netbook before choosing this, but the screen on this was much better. If you plan to look at it for 2 hours (before the battery dies), it is nice to know my eyes won't hurt afterwards.

5 out of 5 eggsWHAT A DEAL!!

Pros: Acer did a great job with this lil PC, Light, Fast, Easy, seems that everything is working well with each other!
I really think it is more then a netbook!
Atom proc is suppose to be slow, and light on power...DON"T U BELIEVE IT!! I had this thing swallowing 2 software installs at the same time!! To me that is impressive, considering that this is supposed to be a small/weak worker...I think it is as much as U would expect from a lowto lower-mid class laptop with a single core CPU. This thing rocks IMO!! Get one while they are still cheap on NewEgg. This thing can do a lot! Beleive me!! I put it trough the work out before handing it over to my wife...who will not do ti it that I do to a laptop!! My 2 year old acer 5672 has been appart and modified into a frankistein!! If Acer only knew...I might get shot or hired! But I this lil jem untouced...just loaded it up with what MaMa wanted and benchmark tested it to my heat issues, no stalls, no errors, just kept on working!

Cons: Mine didn't have the OS installed I did me a lil fixy-fixy...I would have removed all the bloatware anyways...after I had it back up with the standard Win XP Home SP/3...and the drivers from Acer's web site...BAM!! a real nice lil PC!! I did not do a bios update...I didn't have problems that would lead me to beleive it needed it...but it is available.
I must say that while it was a very fast was is hard for me to say this because I love NewEgg...but here we was packed like someone just did not care if it broke in transit..really...I say it like it really is...U see what I am saying here, and I am still giving 5 eggs because I got what I wanted...and I was going to reconfigure it anyway...I am rarely happy with all that bloatware and trial software...I purchased the OS and other software, and had it all waiting for this lil sweet machine anyway.
NewEgg...Bro...can we have the shipping back the way it used to be?? PLEASE!!

Other Thoughts: It raises the bar folks...I bought 2 of these for Mom for Xmas, and this one for da Wifey for V-Day!! It looks to be a real contender if this is the type of thing you are looking for...Web cam, mic, 3 usb, bunch of mem card readers, real small, long lasting battery, looks that EVERYONE would like...I want one, but I just don't need another PC...but I am spoiled so I will get me one too!!
