Useless Acer "support"
- Pros: I like the size/weight, the color (perfect slightly metallic-looking bronzy-brown) and the battery life (I get at least 4 hrs without shutting down, on the 6-cell battery). 3 USB ports -- 2 on one side & 1 on the other -- good design. Built in card reader & PCMCIA slot, wired & wireless networking. Paired it with a very lightweight Samsung lightscribe external DVD burner & I have absolutely everything I could need.
- Cons: Acer support is the worst I've seen in a long time, and there's NO option to EVER get to a real person. The system comes with a webcam & a driver installed/working, but NO APP to actually run the webcam! Inquiries to Acer are answered by people who have no clue either. Acer website has a page that says there should be a webcam app under "Fun" but there is no "Fun" (group? app? it doesn't say!) on this system anywhere. And no way to escalate, no way to call someone, nothing but email. While it would have been a small issue with me, the absolute impossibility of getting an actual answer about the webcam APP (program, not driver) despite repeated, very-clear emails, has me very frustrated & angry. As far as I can tell, there is no program included or downloadable to actually USE the webcam; I suppose I could go buy something that might work, but it frustrates me that nobody at Acer seems to know.
Secondarily, as others mentioned, the buttons for the touchpad are far too stiff.
- Other Thoughts: Get an external USB mouse & small USB-based DVD burner to go with it, unless you're -only- using it for web & such. Also, the longer-life 6 cell battery is well worth the investment unless you're going to use it plugged in all the time. I'd also suggest a slipcase (it comes with one that's cheap but suffices for a while) though it doesn't actually seem prone to scratch, just holds fingerprints which don't show as much on the brown as other colors.
WOW!!! Should have bought 2 more!!
- Pros: Small=very portable! I researched for days before i bought this little jewel. I loaded up all the programs i use daily on my big desktop. NO PROBLEMS! Of course you need to add some sort of virtual disk program, So you can play your favorite cd/dvd programs. I am quite happy with on how long the battery last!! I power used it like a MADMAN and no problems!! If you travel or use a laptop all the time the is the real deal. I have very large hands and was surprised on how easy it was to type on keyboard. SO FAR SO GOOD!!
- Cons: NO CD/DVD PLAYER!!( Yes there is room for a slim one!!)
TOUCH PAD SUCKS!! (easily fixed with usb mouse)
Case attracts fingerprints! Small Screen is hard to get used. Acer should not load any trial ware on it. I got rid of all the "Bloatware- trialware" software right away.
Overall i would purchase again.
- Other Thoughts: Remember that you are buying a mini-laptop!! It has a small screen/keyboard!! I wish i had one years ago.

- Pros: Looks great its tiny takes up minimal desk space at work it makes studying and multitasking a lot easier i can take it pretty much anywhere in my home and continue working or studying with ease much better than lugging around a normal sized laptop also newegg was awsome as always got it before their estimated date newegg has never let me down when ordering from them
- Cons: battery life is short but its only a 3 cell battery so go figure you can purchase a bigger battery picks up finger prints very easy as previously mentioned you get the occasional swirl icon when using the touchpad quick fix with a wireless mouse would prefer a mouse over the touchpad anyway
- Other Thoughts: If I had more money I would get 2 so my Girlfriend would stop stealing mine and have her own.
