4 out of 5 eggs$399 Laptop - can't go wrong!

Pros: Great price from NewEgg!
Nice sized laptop with nice clear display. I bought this as my first personal laptop (not to be used for work). I liked it for its curved keyboard - all of my desktop keyboards are curved. For the price it is a great entry laptop - but not too entry!

Cons: Keyboard is both stiff and too sensitive. I'm either not pressing keys hard enough, or hitting them too long and I'm getting double entry. It makes logging into Windows a bit of a challenge. No Bluetooth (but you can find aftermarkets on for $24). Oh yah, VISTA can be a con too if you want it to be ;) It seems like the fan keeps cycling on and off. Its one of those things you don't notice...until you do - then it starts to drive me nuts. I wish it had 1 or 2 more USB Ports.

Other Thoughts: Will be upgrading the HDD from the 160GB it came with. ACER tech support told me that this pc only does 250GB max, but their product support page says it will do a 320GB or higher.. When I asked they said only 250GB. Anyone know if it will go higher?? Also I added 2GB of RAM for $20 (thanks again NewEgg). Looking forward to installing Linux on the 2nd partition on the new HDD and finally learning Linux...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat notebook at a great price.

Pros: I wanted a notebook to use when I'm away from my PC and I couldn't have gotten a better deal at $399 for this one. I added another 2GB RAM and it runs great. I even use it for the games from BigFish and it does a good job. It runs cool too, I've used it all day with no heat problems. All in all I was pleasantly surprised at how good this notebook is.

Cons: No cons really, maybe it should come with more than the factory 2GB RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsSpiffy little laptop

Pros: Compact little machine, cd/dvd RW, video cam, added 2 GB stick of ram (super easy to do) and noticed improvement. Vista is not as bad as most are saying (except UAC, which you can shut off). I do prefer XP but hey, i'm not going to cry over it and will probably end up with Windows 7. Haven't decided yet...

Cons: Touchpad wasn't working; couldn't find any settings in Control panel, was getting frustrated THEN HELLO, discovered Fn-F7 is a toggle for the touchpad. Touchpad is very sensitive so being able to turn it off that easily is a bonus.

2 GB ram.... another 2GB for 20 bucks was a no brainer.

Lots of bloatware; only 2 USB slots and no HDMI, but come on... 399!??! Buy a USB hub for 15 bucks if you want more.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my husband for email, to surf the internet, and video chat with his sister and cousin in NC and friend in Colorado. It does all three. The video is choppy but what do you expect. For some reason, I thought it was coming with 2x1GB sticks of ram and I wanted to boost it to 3 for Vista. I ordered a 2GB stick and when I opened the memory cover, I was surprised to see a 2 GB stick in there already. I popped the other 2 in we were in business.
For 399 + free shipping + 20 for ram + 30 for combo pack it's a pretty good deal.

You'll need 16 CD's or 2 DVD's to make a backup of the restore. It didn't take as long as some said. we left it alone to do it's thing while we ate dinner. Burn and verify took a little more than 30 minutes per DVD.

Make sure to download and install all Windows updates!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop!

Pros: This laptop is an outstanding value for the price. The picture is crisp and clear and it boots up very fast. I bought this laptop for school and it is more than adequate for my needs. Also, it is larger than I thought it would be and the keys are nicely spaced so it's easy to type on.

Cons: I would agree with some of the other reviewers that the touchpad is a little tricky, which can be annoying. Other than that, it's fine.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast setup when on the first boot up. Light weight perfect for carrying around college campus. Processor is a plus. VERY reasonable price. The trial programs were quick to get rid of.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Took a little time to get used to Vista from XP. Great laptop I would buy it again.

5 out of 5 eggsGood and Solid

Pros: Good mid range laptop. You're not going to break any speed records here. Easy to "upgrade" to XPP. Drivers readily available. Stable wireless a plus.

Cons: Not as rugged as some but a good value.

Other Thoughts: Have 7 of these now and I've had one return (not from Newegg). I love paying less than $400 for these!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little Notebook

Pros: Great little notebook for the price. Not a whole lot of extras. Simple small and decent battery life.
Nice webcam, and built in microphone.

Cons: 2 usb ports
touchpad can be annoying at time.
spacebar can be touchy if you don't press it in the center.

Price dropped to 399 and free shipping a day or two after I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice to have some of the other ports, like hdmi and a few extra usb ports.
Or at least all the ports that are molded into the plastic of the body.

Add 2gb of ram and this notebook really pushes along.
