Exceeded Expectations!
- Pros: This laptop combines a ton of nice features at an even nicer price. It has the power to comfortably play even the newest games, and also has surprisingly nice audio capabilities, the included sound processor makes it almost completely unnecessary to buy an external audio interface for composing or performing music on the go. 16" screen is pretty, and the part of the laptop your palms rest on while typing is unusually comfortable. The speakers on this laptop are fairly high quality, more than what I expected.
- Cons: The touchpad looks no different than the rest of the laptop area surrounding it. This does not present a big problem, but it can get annoying at first. I also had to spend about 15 minutes getting rid of the basic bloatware you find on all laptops. A can see how most of the things Acer included on here would be helpful, but they are annoying when you are trying to get rid of them if you don't need them. Along those lines, you have to install the included version of McAffee before you are allowed to delete it. The uninstall process for McAffee was surprisingly pain free, but being forced to install a program before getting rid of it is a nuisance.
- Other Thoughts: Overall, this laptop has exceeded my expectations left and right. It was almost painless setting up, and it consistently performs better than advertised. And the bottom line is: at this price point, you will not find a better laptop.
Great Deal
- Pros: 9600 GS
Core 2 Duo 16:9 Widescreen MXM DOesnt get hot at all just a little warm
- Cons: In second hard drive bay 2 spikes protrude from the bottom so have to cut it off to put second hard drive in.
Keyboard has noticeable flex.k Screen doesn't go past about 135 degrees.
- Other Thoughts: Great deal for the money. 9600M GS will play any game currently on the market. Find a better deal for the price. I dare you.

No Windows Installation Disc
- Pros: Newegg shipped the laptop in very timely fashion, it arrived within the guaranteed number of days. The laptop performs very well thus far. I have only played a few older games and each have performed very well; this isn't the computer you should be getting if you simply want it to play the most recent, high end games.
- Cons: Lots of bloatware....even worse, it doesn't come with a Windows installation disc. The laptop has backup and recovery software pre-loaded. However, this is no substitute for a clean Windows installation disc. I haven't seen this detail listed anywhere on Newegg and was very disappointed to find that Acer ships the product with no installation disc.
Very pleased. Great laptop, great Newegg price.
- Pros: Value! Runs everything I've loaded so far at high quality with no problems. Fast wireless. Comfortable keyboard. Lots of ports make it versatile. Sounds great, 5.1 compatible audio out so it works nicely with my old desktop surround system. Nice looking screen, nice looking machine in general.
- Cons: Few and far between. No Bluetooth. No Blu Ray (at this price, no surprise). The case LOVES fingerprints. You either have to not care at all or carry a polishing cloth around at all times. Scroll doesn't work on the mouse pad (who cares, right?). This sucker is HEAVY. I'm constantly worried it's going to slip out of my grip when I take it out of it's bag. Sound is wonderful but it could be just a little louder. Small hard drive. All of these are strictly nit-picking but I had to come up with something.
- Other Thoughts: Read lots of other reviews complaining about the bloatware. No more or less here than on any new machine as far as I can tell. Why did they split the hard space over two drives? Has C & D drives with approx 109 GB working space each. I love this machine!!
Buy this while its still on sale!
- Pros: I have been looking for a good, well rounded laptop for some time and I am an experienced bargain hunter. That being said this is the best laptop I have owned. If you are in the market for a laptop I highly suggest this one and here is why.
-FREE Windows 7 Upgrade, hate vista? upgrade through acer if you have purchased this laptop after june 26th. Microsoft sends you a disc and everything on Oct 22nd -Full keyboard, love the flex keys and the keyboard is very comfortable and not awkward like many laptops -Sound is amazing. The best I have heard on any laptop -Video card is better than I thought, 512mb dedicated and up to 2.3gb integrated -Games, tested World of Warcraft, Fallout 3, and Oblivion on highest settings. No lag or choppy graphics. -Temperature, the laptop runs very cool and the bottom of mine never even gets warm. There is a little warmth to the left of the touchpad, but it is comfortable like a wrist warmer. -HDMI is huge when connecting to LCD TV's for streami
- Cons: -Bloatware/games, took about an hour to remove it all, but it was expected
-Windows 7 does not release until Oct. 22nd -It is very difficult to complain, this laptop was better than I expected and I am very impressed.
- Other Thoughts: Excellent for games, software, programming, and streaming media. The wireless N is very impressive in performance. I almost bought the acer laptop from newegg the model just under this one. Trust me this laptop is worth the $50 extra. It has a better CPU that runs cooler and is more energy efficient, better video card, and better wireless. I only wish there was more space to write in the pros section so I could list it all.
