4 out of 5 eggsGMA 500 Watch Out..

Pros: 11.6" Screen, upgradeable to 2GB DDR2 667 memory, decent speed while running Windows 7 Ultimate. I was able to swap my Transcend DDR2 667 2GB memory out of my old eee-PC 701 and drop it in this baby.

Cons: Cannot change the video memory in BIOS, it's set to a lousy 8MB.. -With newest BIOS flash.

Linux support is pretty bad due to the GMA 500 Video Driver. The actual GPU wasn't entirely made by Intel making it very hard to find a decently working driver for just 2D effects in Linux, although it's possible to get your resolution to where it needs to be, you won't be able to enable 3D compositing. I tried Kubuntu 9.10, Open Suse 11.2, and Mandriva One 2010. Mandriva was the only Distro that had the right resolution after a clean install, but as soon as you update your OS and reboot, you're left with a "TTY" terminal and cannot get to your GUI at all. -> This happens to all distros

Other Thoughts: I give this a 4 out of 5 simply because of it's price and high quality/looks, purchased it on newegg for $249.00.. Although it has it's downsides at the moment, hopefully Intel will release a driver update soon for Linux. But if you're planning on just running a Windows based OS, it's perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive Netbook

Pros: Impressive netbook. I'm able to surf the web, listen to music and IM chat all at the same time will little to no slowdown.

Amazing battery life; on minimum settings i'm able to eek out 7.5 - 8 hours. Full blast I get 3.5 - 4 hours. Either way, it beats out my full size laptop.

Cons: I've had it freeze up on me a couple times when I was using Pandora music service. I think this has something to do with flash player, though I am not 100% sure.

Other Thoughts: For $300, you really can't ask for more. Although you have to give up a bit of power, you gain lots of battery life and mobility. This is a great supplement to a full sized laptop.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Speedier than I thought.
-Awesome design. When the lid is closed, it looks like it's something from the future.
-No dead pixels!
-higher resolution screen than a MacBook
-amazingly light at 2.8 lbs Lighter than a textbook!
-It is THIN!!!

Cons: -Battery life doesn't last as much as the advertised 8 hours.
-the trackpad L and R buttons could be less stiff.
-Hard to find a case for it as 11.6" computers are still rare these days. I had to order mine specifcally from Lowepro.

Other Thoughts: This computer is the best purchase I've made. I don't miss my 7lb. 14.1" HP laptop that costed 2x as much at all. This is less than half of the weight of typical laptops. And the screen resolution is higher than the typical 1200*800 pixels found on laptops and Macbooks. ! It is super light...weighs about 2.5 lbs. People say the Intel Atom 1.33GHz is slow, but it seems fast enough for me. I use my netbook for typing short assignments and web-surfing...and it's fast engouh. iTunes and Microsoft Office 2007 runs great.

I had trouble with the computer locking up every so often after I installed it a 2gb stick of RAM. But after updating to the latest BIOS (vers. 3106), that issue is gone now.

4 out of 5 eggsNice screen & keyboard

Pros: Fabulous 11.6" 1366x768 LED backlit screen with much higher pixel density than the 10" screens. Keyboard is full-size and comfortable to type on, albeit somewhat spongy. Battery life is good (about 3 hours on the 3 cell battery). Video playback is great if hardware accelerated (the GMA500 has hardware acceleration for MPEG2, H264, and some others). With hardware acceleration, video uses only about 25-30% of CPU. This computer is more than adequate for internet use and basic office work.

Cons: The Atom processor is not adequate for displaying unaccelerated video -- such as Flash video. This means that YouTube won't work full-screen and Hulu is a no-go at any size. This is not the netbook to buy if you want to watch Flash video.

Glossy cover shows fingerprints.

Other Thoughts: The video issues may be resolved with future releases of the GMA500 graphics chipset drivers -- although it is likely any future driver improvements will only be available with Windows 7 and not XP.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Netbook

Pros: Lightweight, 11" screen, Full keyboard, Easy to use touchpad (although the touch-gestures are as easy as my Macbook)

Cons: Processor is slow enough to make fullscreen flash (youtube, hulu, etc) very jerky and jittery. No battery life indicator on the bottom or on battery (could've used a small button with 3-4 LED's)

Other Thoughts: Great little netbook. Not sure why a review below stated it doesn't have bluetooth when there's a button on the keyboard for it. It plays fullscreen video with VLC easily but because it has trouble playing flash fullscreen that's kind of a bummer. At least small Youtube videos look bigger on the 11" screen!

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing speed

Pros: Nice large display, near full sized keyboard, light weight, good battery life. Runs Windows 7 and every linux version I can find just fine. Vista basic is very slow.

Cons: Speed. The Z520 processor is much slower than the 270 in most netbooks. Vista windows experience index on the chip is 1.3. It's not unusabally slow, just a bit disappointing after paying a premium for a larger screen.

Other Thoughts: Intel is trying to manipulate the netbook market by putting restrictions on system configurations and this netbook is a victim of those restrictions. Right now Intel won't let manufacturers put anything but a 520 chip in a 11+ in netbook. Until that changes, I would stay away from the larger displays.

5 out of 5 eggsYep, It's THAT good

Pros: largest netbook screen & very bright, light weight, full size keyboard, Quiet & cool running, Fingerprints do not show with this color (white)

Cons: No BlueTooth, No 802.11N/gigabit NIC

Other Thoughts: Hint, HINT, to Acer, Put a Wireless-N and Bluetooth in this baby while holding on the price and you will really dominate the Netbook Market
