Great for a netbook
- Pros: Small, light, not expensive. Works fine for office aplications, msn, skype, msn, e-mail, internet, youtube and video playback from external HD.
- Cons: None if you take into consideration you are buying a 299,00 netbook. dont expect a gaming computer.
Excellent Value
- Pros: Size/weight, case color (options), expandable ram, big HDD, multi-touchpad, runs "old-school" gaming emulators perfectly, induces envy among friends/co-workers :p
- Cons: Truly a fingerprint-magnet, didn't come with bluetooth (a sub-$2 purchase on a well-know online auction site cured that though).
- Other Thoughts: I knew this would not be a gaming system, but since I am pretty much a console gamer anyway, I didn't need it to run any modern PC games. My NES and SNES emulators run without a hiccup in fullscreen modes and with a portable wireless game-pad (usb or bluetooth) I can relive the 80's and 90's console life anywhere and anytime. I was looking at a similar netbook (MSi Wind U100)who's only advantage over this one was Wireless N and a slightly nicer (to me anyway) blue colored case. The true deciding factor was the ram upgradeability of this Acer to 2GB over the 1GB max in the MSi. That will be nice when I make the move to Windows 7 somewhere down the line. Others have mentioned that the sound quality of the speakers is a con for this model, but it has been sufficient in my opinion. I tried a Hulu video myself and noticed that the volume WAS noticeably softer when adjusted to maximum, but that was ONLY with Hulu video; all other sounds/audio are perfectly audible well before max volume.
Quality Build not perfect
- Pros: While this is a nice netbook, with enough power to play some fun puzzle games, do Facebook & Twitter its not perfect. Had some stuttering on Hulu, youtube was ok, text is really really small even after tweaking settings difficult at times to read. Keyboard isn't that bad but touchpad leaves lot to be desired. Good color, nice screen, comes in various colors, lightweight easy to cary...it still serves a limited purpose but I would never do homework in this thing its strictly for traveling, inflight entertainment, net surfing. I think they could be less expensive.
- Cons: Many people told me they don't get hot well thats a down right lie. While it doesn't get as hot as my Compaq Laptop it does need a flat surface underneath it and heat does build up it must have a teenie tiny fan
- Other Thoughts: These things are a mystery to me u can get a fully loaded laptop for just a few bucks more the only reason to get one of these things is for travel much lighter and easier to carry around but don't expect it to make toast none of the netbooks I have seen is any better as none have a cd/dvdrom drive or big enough screen the universal standards prohibit callign it a netbook if the screen is 12" or larger.
