4 out of 5 eggsGood Buy

Pros: -Affordable
-Works extremely well for internet, email and office documents
-Perfect for simple tasks and portability

Cons: -Speakers are so low it's difficult to hear. My cell phone is louder.
-Touchpad is quirky
-Keyboard is small and cramped (it's a netbook, what do you expect)
-Lots of bloatware (easy to uninstall and clean up)
-Decent battery life, but not the best I've seen

Other Thoughts: Don't listen to anyone ripping this apart for being weak and not playing 720p video. It's not supposed to be powerful or able to handle HD. Regular video playback is just fine.

As a power user, I picked this up for someone who just uses it for email and web browsing and it is perfectly fine. It actually runs and benchmarks just as well as a $1500 laptop I purchased in 2006

The 1024x600 resolution is enough to drive me crazy since many websites don't fit on it well, but for a 10.1" netbook, it's not bad.

A few people have had hardware problems with this but I'm lucky so far.

Pros: Great little machine for the money (2 hundy) and it has a camera.

Cons: It's only a 3 cell and the power cord seems to get loose (we take it on our trips in the car and plug it in, it gets loose when it's been used a bit).

Other Thoughts: These little computers are getting cheaper and cheaper, soon they'll be about the size of the ipad and pay about the same.

5 out of 5 eggsWould recommend!

Pros: Small, light, descent performance (better with additional GB total 2GB), not flimsy

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Got it on sale for $199 here at - Great deal! I did replace the 1GB stick with a 2GB stick and I just purchased an external DVD burner for it as well. Complete package! It came loaded with WIndows XP. I happen to have 2 additional 2.5" SATA drives so I swap them depending on what I want to run (XP, WIndows 7 or Ubuntu). I would definitely recommend this (or this type of) laptop as a second or (in my case) a 'disposable' laptop! I mainly bought it to watch Netflix on it full screen without problems!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome price

Pros: The price was great, and the size is perfect. After having broken 3 portable dvd players, I decided a small laptop would be far more functional than a portable dvd player, at only about double the price.

Cons: Mouse pad is a bit touchy, and the smaller keyboard takes a bit to get used to.

1 out of 5 eggsNot HAPPY !!!

Pros: Died after two month of use, I hope Acer customer service will take care about it in a first time.

Cons: Acer got warranty service only in one state, so you have to pay for shipping and insurane, no local service.

1 out of 5 eggsAcer Warranty Service is AWFUL

Pros: Cheap

Cons: If it breaks down, you have to send it off for repair, and it may or may not work when you get it back. So you end up shipping it back to Acer and hope that they fix it the second time. (fingers crossed)

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the Money - IF bought on sale

Pros: Reasonably quick performer.
Tiny & lightweight.
Build quality seems good for the price.
(Really everything about this netbook has to be evaluated relative to "For the price".)
NewEgg's incredible price.

Cons: Screen could be brighter.
Short battery life (approx 2 hr).
Extremely cramped keyboard. (I tried an HP netbook after I bought this one, and the HP keyboard was quite nice and usable, despite being only negligibly bigger than this one. This keyboard has me squeezing my fingers together in an uncomfortable way.)
Windows XP. (I'd rather have Windows 7.)
All the other typical netbook quibbles - in this regard, this one is no better and no worse than the competition.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because I could justify $199 to be able to do very light work & email checking while on vacation. I ALMOST wish I had spent the extra $80 on the HP, with its new-generation Atom processor, nicer keyboard, and much longer battery life (larger battery). However, I'm reasonably satisfied with this Acer for no more than I use it, and for no more than it cost. If I used it more or it had been priced higher than it was, I would have bought the HP or nothing at all. However, again, let me emphasize this was a pragmatic, get-it-done-cheap purchase, and as such it is really more computer than one should expect for $199.
As always, NewEgg rocks, with a great price and the world's fastest shipping!

5 out of 5 eggsCompromises, but satisfied

Pros: Bright display, WinXP, good WiFi reception, all of the benefits of a netbook: small size, light weight

Cons: all of the problems inherent in a netbook: small keyboard, slow processor, small low resolution screen.

Other Thoughts: A netbook is not a substitute for a laptop

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I love this unit. Thanks to a great sale at Newegg, I now own two of these.

I have had the first one for seven or eight months and upgraded to 2 Gig memory when I first bought it and have had no problems at all. XP was fine, but I upgraded to a bigger hard drive and loaded Windows 7 Pro two-weeks ago and it is still fast and working fine. I burned the system discs to DVDs (3, 2 system, 1 driver) and installed onto the new hard drive without any hitches, then I upgraded to Win 7 Pro.

All I use it for is email and surfing while my kids are at whatever afterschool activity they have on any given day, so the two-hour battery life is fine for me.

If you can find one of these at the 199.99 sale price again, they are worth the price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: With all the money I have in upgrades, I could have bought something bigger, but it was fun to do and this thing is so small and light that it was worth it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price on special. Much thinner than my MSI Wind.

Cons: Only one ram slot, so adding ram means tossing exsisting one. Does not have turbo or overclock setting.
No restore disks included.

Other Thoughts: Also have an MSI wind, and the Acer is Much thinner in size.
