I like it
- Pros: Fast, light, even has a webcam
- Cons: No
NICE LITTLE NOTEBOOK
- Pros: This is a great little notebook for a great price, if all that you are looking for is a small laptop for light computing (web surfing, word processing, etc.).
- Cons: Obviously not a powerful PC so forget playing games or running VMware and things like that.
- Other Thoughts: I did not buy this on N.E., but set one up for a client a few months ago. I was able to successfully backup the entire HD, and also install WinXP using an external USB DVD burner. No hiccups or errors at all!
The thing also ran off the battery for over 2hrs and was just halfway drained. The overall performance is also pretty decent for such a low-power device. I think I may get one for myself.
I was anxious - but BEST decision
- Pros: I have been experiementing with this since late July.
1) Sleek look, thin, consistent, lightweight, clean titantium polished bottom panel around keyboard.
2) Fast for a little atom! Webcame is...OK for what it is...at least there is a webcam on here - but it's not great.
3) LINUX: Ubuntu worked well out of the box. I had to ask the guys on the Ubuntu forums how to enable the wireless, but it was easy. I just had to blacklist some stuff and that's it.
Linux Mint: PERFECT on the acer. I had Mint 7 Gloria for about three days before removing XP...and as reluctant as I first was, I am flag I did it now! I will be trying Elive linux soon.
4) Not a bulky block for plug-in power.
5) Very nice screen, keyboard is great size - took a day to get used to without typing errors. Memory on Mint takes up about 150-450MB depending on what I do. The Intel GMA keeps up with the Compiz super well!
- Cons: 1) Gets too warm for my liking! I need to install a temperature sensing program, because it is slightly worrying me. But just don't set the netbook on anything like your bed or on the comforter.
2) Battery power is around 2 hours on Mint. It wasn't great on XP either, but I don't mind.
3) OK, you gamers reading this...Call of Duty 2 will not work on XP. Battlefield 1942 will not work either. Quake LIVE runs perfectly as a freemium game. Battlefield Heroes...well it runs, but it's VERY laggy on the lowest settings. Linux Mint has some awesome FPS online games you can download for free!
- Other Thoughts: Love it. It took me three weeks, yes almost a month, to decide which netbook I wanted. I wanted an EEE, a Samsung, MSI Wind, but never the Dell - yuck. Looks wise this Acer destroys the EEE and MSI.
If you do purchase this, I highly recommend dual-booting linux!
I am also much more pleased the 250 over the older 150.
