5 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it is.

Pros: If you are looking for an ultra-portable, high battery laptop capable of doing office tasks (internet, MS office) and nothing more than light gaming (think wow on low settings) then this is an ideal laptop.

The battery claims of 8 hrs are legit (it's obviously going to be a little lower with heavy use).

Cons: Bloatware and driver updates...but this is a problem on most computers unfortunately.

Take care of it first thing and it's a non-issue.

Other Thoughts: Bought mine for about 550 added a usb mouse and am very pleased with it.

I have a gaming rig at home and didn't need anything more than this.

3 out of 5 eggs5 Stars for design, 2.5 Stars for lack of support updates = 3.5 Stars total!

Pros: Perfect size, weight and aesthetically beautiful. Keyboard has a very nice feel to it and very easy to type. Mouse pad is also nice. Comes with DVD burner. Aluminum lid is very pleasing. Battery life (anything over 7 hours is good enough for me).

Cons: Not out-of-the-box friendly experience. Acer needs to update more support drivers to coincide with sluggish performances. No Express Card slot. No eSata. Single Core CPU.

Other Thoughts: My initial thought; upon receiving this laptop was an astounding 'wow' because aesthetically speaking, it is the nicest notebook I've seen to date. The aluminum lid alone is worth buying, plus, the more than 8 hours battery life and under 1" thick body is more than enough reason for me to pursue my purchase of this little notebook.

The downside:
It is not out-of-the-box friendly, meaning you'd have to go through hoops just to download/update drivers and remove a whole lot of bloatwares (like the 15+ game programs) to increase its performance level, or to keep it under load. Funny, I've never seen so much game software installed on a non-gaming notebook and I couldn't even possibly imagine who'd play games on this single-core machine. The laptop is good for web browsing to a limited stat, and even using MS Office could easily spike the cpu load. The drivers from Acer's website could be a daunting task too because you really don't know which one goes for what unless you install them

5 out of 5 eggsAcer AS4810T

Pros: Quick, quite, light ... I upgraded to Windows 7 and it had all of the drivers natively. Windows update took care of installing the video card specific drivers! Works great. I would go and download the synaptec mouse drivers on your own, a quick install and you have 2 finger scroll and 3 finger flick! Best laptop I've purchased. I haven't stress tested it much but the 8+ hr batter seems to be legit!

Cons: Wish I would have waited until on 1810TZ Core2Duo

Other Thoughts: Acer timeline series is the way I'd go for a laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat notebook

Pros: -portable
-unparalleled battery life in this size
-HDMI out
-web cam

Cons: -cheaper now on popular competitor site by 20 but really shouldn't be above 550 with the single core processor. comparatively, the same notebook with a slight 100mhz slower cpu is a hundred bucks cheaper
-single core cpu
-'light' processor footprint too light so maybe slower than anticipated and requires removing bloatware in some instances, to be really useful
-GMA integrated graphics, where when Nvidia ION debut on this lineup?

Other Thoughts: ultra thin, light, but with 14" and 1360x768 res, a quasi paradigm of portable computing really, particularly those who find netbook screens too small and too low res

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Great price, amazing brushed aluminum lid, thin, light, sturdy, comfortable full size keyboard, and bright LED screen. With the battery at 90%, I still got 7 hours and 40 minutes, even though it wasn't on the lowest brightness. Even on high performance, it doesn't get hot, just a bit warm.
Plays Hulu on the lowest resolution and Youtube HD smoothly. With Vimeo, though, the processor usage is always at 100% and the video is choppy.

Cons: My biggest complaint is that the touchpad isn't centered to the keyboard. I keep brushing my palm on the touchpad when typing and it screws up whatever I'm typing. I guess I'll have to change the way I type.
Aluminum lid does attract finger prints, as does the glossy keyboard. Not a big problem though.
Touch controls are quite sensitive. I was brushing off some dust from the keyboard, accidentally brushed the touch controls, and turned off the wireless while I was watching a video on Hulu. Not the biggest deal, but you need to be careful.
The dvd drive sticks out a little bit (about 1 to 2 mm) from the edge, which can be annoying.
The fan makes a clicking noise whenever it turns on. This could just be a problem with my laptop, though.
The rocker button is a bit stiff and sometimes won't click if you press it closer to the center.
Doesn't come with a backup disc, so some space is used up on hard drive.

Other Thoughts: I installed Windows 7 as soon as I got it, so I didn't even deal with the Vista install with all the bloatware.
The speakers are decent, but don't have great bass. Using headphones, though, the sound was MUCH better.
On a sunny day, the screen can be difficult to read unless you use it on the highest brightness.
The light in front that indicates the battery status when plugged in is very bright and can be annoying in a dark room.

5 out of 5 eggsBattery life = Sick!

Pros: -Battery life (6-8 hours depending on settings and usage).
-Keyboard feels nice, only downside is it is glossy.
-very light and thin.
-Stays cool on lap.
-Great computer for the price and comes with free Win. 7 upgrade.
-Newegg ships The notebook in a large box so it is better protected and arrives safely! Thank you very much Newegg!

Cons: -Video card and processor is on the lower end but then again, this is not a gaming computer.
-does not come with a backup disc so you have to spend at least an hour making those..

Other Thoughts: Like everyone else says in the reviews you have to install the updates that come on the disc with the notebook. I cannot wait till windows 7 comes out so I can get rid of Vista...

2 out of 5 eggsok as a second or third comptuer

Pros: Smallest laptop I could find with built in DVD drive and great battery life. I like the keyboard.

Cons: When I tried to put XP Pro on it I had to change the hard drive from SATA to IDE in the BIOS and the computer never worked again. It would never get past POST after that. I had to send it back to ACER to be fixed.

The DVD drive does not open most of the time when the eject button is pushed. It has to be restarted. (I have not tried the right click eject function(afterthought)). I does not matter if you have Vista or XP on it, the problem is the same.

Other Thoughts: I wanted this model instead of the one with XP already on it because it had a larger hard drive, more RAM, and a faster CPU.

I give it 2.5 eggs. I would not recommend this as your main computer though.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate the drivers!

Pros: Just a note to let folks know that you *must* update the drivers with the included update disk. Else you will have this strange 100% CPU situation that will bind of the machine. After the driver update, all is well and this LT is outstanding.

Also, vented well so it doesn't get hot on the bottom.

Nothing much to add except claimed bat life is real, performance is adequate for most and it seems well built and thought out. I'm not sure there is any other competitive unit available at this price point with the same bat life, weight, and power. Very skinny, btw.

Cons: Nothing that jumps out at me yet.

Other Thoughts: Must be close to being "The perfect student laptop".

5 out of 5 eggsGreat thin and light laptop! Much better than netbook...

Pros: LED Screen
Battery life
Better processor than Atom... powerful enough to run Hulu smoothly and Youtube HD video with no problems (as long as you run them in Mozilla Firefox)
Screen has much better resolution than netbook
DVD-RW drive
Decent enough graphics card to do light gaming (old games run no problem... Guild Wars ran fine at native resolution)
Keyboard is full-sized and has excellent feel once you get used to it.
Thin (less than 1")
Light for 14" notebook (I think just under 4 lbs)
Multitouch gestures work amazing... you can download a little program to give you two finger scroll function like macs... which works amazing...

Cons: Not high performance beast machine
Can't run crysis
Can't clean up after my dog when he makes a poopy on the kitchen floor

Other Thoughts: I'd definitely recommend this to someone who either doesn't have high performance needs but still needs portability or someone who has a secondary machine for their video editing/gaming.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Long battery life, thin, light aesthetically pleasing. After flashing the bios and updating video driver... worked like a charm. Proficient at the fundamentals (web, email, office). Was able to handle 720p streamed over home network as well as WoW on "fair" settings. Obviously not a powerhouse but what it does have works well.

Cons: Have to flash the bios and update video driver out of the box, a lot of bloatware that needs to be deleted/disabled.

Other Thoughts: Nice little machine
