3 out of 5 eggsOK

Pros: Very portable, great for road trips for basic computing..(email, web surfing, etc.) Nice looking.

Cons: Slow, Video playback is horrible. Battery life not very good for such a small computer.

Other Thoughts: If you have a few more bucks look at something with some better specs.

Pros: compact, has everyting you need, comparable with a celeron m, so far so good.

Cons: only offer one color and i have 3 kids , i need to have the same machine so they can share the ac adapters but is nice that every one has a different color.

4 out of 5 eggsMust get rid of Vista

Pros: Lightweight, plus the LED screen is a definite plus. Full size keyboard, and has a very thin design. 2gb of RAM is nice - makes up for the slightly slower Atom CPU.

Cons: 1) You MUST uninstall Vista in favor of XP Professional or XP Home, because Vista freezes-up constantly. I knew Vista would create way too much overhead, but I tried to give it a go for the first hour that I owned this netbook. Within an hour it was freezing on everything. I decided to wipe the hard drive and install a clean copy of XP Pro (all drivers for XP are on the Acer website for this model). XP has been smooth sailing - not a single problem, as you would expect. XP also requires far less RAM and CPU power than Vista. Of course, you'll need an external USB optical drive to do this. Another Con would be all of the "bloatware" that comes bundled. If you take my advice and install XP immediately, then the bloatware won't matter because you'll wipe it all out. But, for those of you able to get Vista to work, you'll be shocked at how much of this pre-loaded junk it comes with - the most I've ever seen on any PC.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame that Acer chose to use Vista with this netbook, because XP is the obvious logical choice for this type of platform. Windows 7 may split the difference. XP is rock-solid on this.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little trooper!

Pros: -The screen is just beautiful to behold! Images and text are very clear and crisp. No dead pixels. Full size keyboard is a pleasure to type on.

-Sound is great coming out of its little speakers. Not much bass, but vocals and instruments sound clear and loud.

-Very portable & Light. Can pretty much go anywhere, about the size of a wired notebook, you know the ones you use to actually write in =p. Touch pad is much more responsive than some others I have tried.

-Nice big HD, 2GB RAM really helps! As I am writing this I have a few tabs open in Firefox with iTunes in the backround running (converting some wma's), Task manager showing im using up about 1 gig, with still another gig to spare =)

-WiFi working awesome.

-Very quiet!

-Have not tested the battery or performance much in battery saving mode. Been hooked up to the outlet most of the time & Running in High Performance mode.

Cons: -Touch pad buttons are a bit stiff. Gonna have to use them more to get them a bit loose I suppose.

-Choppy video. Even with updated drivers SD & HD shows purchased from iTunes play choppy. With HD being virtually unplayable. SD video is watchable but if you mouse over the screen to pause or doing something else in the background Video will break up and become very choppy.

-Could not get DVD movies to play using an external LG DVD burner/player drive. Depending on viewing software used, I either got No sound or No Sound/Video. (drivers and firmware updated on the LG Drive and still not working.) Can Burn DVD's no problem tho.

-When browsing the web, if their is video or some kind of animations playing it can slow down your surfing.

-Bloatware *shakes fist at it* =p

Other Thoughts: When I purchased this netbook, I was looking for something that wouldnt bust the budget, small & portable, suitable for basic tasks; Internet, email, word processing and of course music. Since it does all the things I was looking for perfectly I gave it 5 eggs.

Sure its bunk that it doesnt play DVD's, or handle video well. But these things I can easily overlook, Im happy it does what I wanted.

The biggest bottlenecks are pretty obvious, processor and the graphics. If video is a must (especially HD) I suggest you look else where & invest in a laptop with more processing/graphics punch.

Its important to keep in mind this is not a monster gaming machine, and things will be slower than compared to a $5k laptop. But I also dont want to give the impression this is a snail with a keyboard. It does all the basic things very awesomely. If your needs are similar to mine I highly recommend this netbook, you will love it. =)
