5 out of 5 eggsGreat netbook

Pros: Small, cool, quiet, Win7 Home Premium, room for upgrades

I bought this for my wife two weeks after my friend bought another netbook for his wife. He paid slightly more for an Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 10.6" screen, 160GB HDD, Win7 Home Starter (bleh!), no HDMI, 2 USB ports, and no room for additional RAM. I've been smug ever since.

Cons: Battery life is a bit short, but that's typical
Probably makes a lousy frisbee, but I'll confirm that at a much later date

Other Thoughts: Overall, very happy with this purchase. If you run multiple user accounts, I'd suggest logging off before switching to a new user, just because it can only handle one at a time if you expect any speed.

When/if RAM prices drop a little, I plan on upgrading to 4GB. A 7,200RPM HDD and 4GB of ReadyBoost would also improve the performance, both of which I plan to do at a later date. For now, though, I'm satisfied with the speed. It sure beats XP Pro on my previous desktop PC.

I've run the HDMI-out on my Sony 40" LCD TV and the picture was freaking excellent.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little machine, EXCELLENT Ubuntu Lucid Compat

Pros: This little machine is a great buy. It has a great display, and is pretty powerful compared to most netbooks. I regularly program on this little guy, with only a modest decrease in processing power over my quad core work machine. It's so portable it fits in my purse -- and I don't have one of those HUGE shoulder bags. The ubuntu lucid compatibility so far is flawless. Webcam, HDMI, VGA out, sound, wireless all worked perfectly out of the box. It's been a shockingly smooth ubuntu experience. I don't think I've had to cruise the forums for one issue. I have an older Acer that also has good linux compat but this one is much better. I think the battery life is ~5 hours? Hard to tell since I haven't ever used it for 5 hours at a time.

Cons: I agree that the USB ports are tight, but it just gives you a few seconds pause when plugging something in. And yes the flossy finish is a fingerprint magnet, but I actually think it shows up less on the red than the black.

Other Thoughts: For the money it's a great buy. Overall I'm very impressed with the value. Has a lot of features most netbooks in this class wouldn't have.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good size & weight for a netbook. Keyboard has large keys, easy for typing. Screen is bright and sharp.

Cons: Processor is a little slow, but it gets the job done.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded to 4GB Memory - made the machine run noticeably faster.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat small computer

Pros: Great little computer. Bought to have something light weight with more features than a netbook. Battery stays up for approximately 5 hours. Runs all my programs as quickly as a modest desktop. Price was reduced for red color which makes no difference to me.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsscreen problem

Pros: Faster than atom chip type netbook, goof battery life, able to watch hulu, and skype.

Cons: every so often when I boot the system up there's a 1 1/2" vertical streak on the right side of the screen, shot down and reboot the problem will go away. Been working with Acer support, but offers not help. They want me to pay the shipping to ship it to them for repair, which is ridiculous for a brand new laptop.

Other Thoughts: love this little laptop, I would give it a five egg if the screen problem does not exist.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Ruby Red

Pros: I needed something portable that I can watch videos and browse the internet with and this netbook is perfect for the job. I don't need anything powerful. I'm glad I did not buy an expensive notebook instead. The screen is big enough to watch videos from but small enough to travel around with. It is sleek looking and very light weighted. I'm very happy with this thing.

Cons: It is really cumbersome to press the Home key when I am typing.

Other Thoughts: I hate using touchpads so I bought a logitech MX518 to compliment this netbook.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: Love the form factor, love the display. Ubuntu (Lucid beta 2) runs great using the WUBI installer. Battery life is very good as well. Webcam, HDMI and SD card reader are nice perks for a laptop of this form factor. Wireless works great, not like some of the lesser cards on most netbooks. Overall good performance.

Cons: a little bloatware, but not much.

Other Thoughts: One of the images on newegg is of a different computer I think. The color is a maroonish red, with a metallic tint on the plate around the keyboard, not bright fire engine red as shown in one of the pictures. Also, fits in my purse!

5 out of 5 eggsI am satisfied

Pros: The computer has as much power as a couple of the desktops I have around the house. Impressed with everything. Had some items you can remove so the extra software is no big deal. This model has blue tooth which I did not see in specs but I have on my model. The camera is okay for basic online use. Keyboard is okay too. Over all I am impressed and I got it during the 72 hour sale so I got it for a very good price.
I like the new Windows 7 too.

Cons: I wish the power plug was in the back and not on the side.
The battery when connected to computer seems a little flimsy. Not that it will fall off but doesnt feel tight.
Other than that and its not really all that important stuff it good.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to check email and do internet work. I also bought it because of the new Windows. I am very happy and this will do and all I need for a few years. I do recommend you buy the breakage warranty if you have young kids or grand kids because I can see how they could grab it and trash it out accidentally.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice display, fast for it's size, love the keyboard, tabbed browsing doesn't slow down the comp, pretty sturdy feeling, GREAT battery life.

Cons: As most mentioned the touchpad is kinda difficult to get used to but i'm already catching on after about 3 hrs of use.

Dual core would be nice but i got this for $40 bucks off so I got my money's worth. At regular price i'd recommend getting the SU2300 but this still does all i ask from it.

Other Thoughts: I am a college student and purchased this for basic productivity but leisure use as well. This is my first laptop/netbook and i have no regrets investing in this one. It's very compact and light. I have gotten over 4 hrs out of the first charge which most of the time i was installing programs/music. I ordered a sleeve for it to protect it since it did not come with one. I'm thinking about putting starcraft on here to see how it works out. :-p
