5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value

Pros: Excellent Value - worked right out of the box with no problems. No sticky key issues at all. Very fast computer with all the features you need. This model has 4 usb ports, camera, dolby surround sound, microphone, etc. Like the numeric key pad, as well. You can turn off the touch pad.

Cons: none. The blue led lights are a bit much, but for the money you will not find a better value.

Other Thoughts: Am buying another one for a relative of mine. As Acer makes many models, this one stands out from a value standpoint.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has HDMI, 4gigs of memory, somewhat decent processor, and 320gig HD, not the best notebook but for the price it's great.

Cons: Integrate graphics card, not really important since I didn't pick this up to be a gaming machine.

Other Thoughts: I got this thing on Black Friday, I've been shopping around for a laptop and most I've seen wasn't all that great. Tiger Direct had some nice deals but all those deals pretty much are on low end machines. After reading the specs and the price of $399 I jumped at the opportunity and ordered this.

5 out of 5 eggsPeachy

Pros: Very simple system, I received it, unpacked it, plugged it in, followed all of the introductory start-up steps, and was enjoying this laptop in no time. I read in other reviews that people were having pretty serious problems with the keyboard, which luckily I have not experienced. I burned the restore disks without any problems, the webcam works well, and this was just a really great deal if you managed to order it when it was $400 ($360 with cash back). Have not really given this system any rigorous tests yet (not that I really plan to), but so far, I am very happy with this purchase, especially since it was an incredible deal!

Cons: Only con so far, because of the addition of the numbad, keyboard seems to be slanted to the left, which is causing some typing errors on my part. that is more of a personal con than an actual system con, but it will just take a little adjusting.

Other Thoughts: happy with this purchase. if it goes on sale agaon, hop on it!

4 out of 5 eggsfirst laptop

Pros: Windows 7 runs very quick right out of the box. I disabled all the fancy graphical stuff and it runs even faster. I need this laptop for school so I have to have some version of windows on it, but I plan to put a linux distro on it at some point.

The hard drive space is nice. 320 gigs.

The ram is nice.

webcam, HDMI, etc. I've only played youtube videos and some other things but they ran nicely. I'm planning to watch a movie on here eventually and I'm not concerned about it lagging whatsoever.

Doesn't run hot.

Cons: I'm getting used to the keyboard. Sometimes the keys don't work, or the directional arrows are pretty small and take some experience for me not to place my fingers too wide.

There's a numerical pad on the right side. Not sure why.

Apparently it's an aging processor, which I didn't realize (I found that out from one of the reviews). There was only one review up when I bought this on black friday.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer for school on black friday. It was 200 off. There was one review and it was positive and the specs were far better than anything else I had looked at (mostly netbooks).

The keys take some getting used to, but I find that as long as I put some oomf into my typing I don't miss keys.

At the original price I don't think the computer is a bad buy at all. It runs very smoothly and so far the only major complaints I have are the keyboard and the clicker underneath the mouse.

Everything else has made me very happy.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty ood for the price

Pros: Got one over Black Friday sale and finished configuring it for my parents as an anniversary gift. Performance is actually better than I expected.

Good quality screen
Snappy performance
Full-sized keyboard (with caveats)

Cons: Full sized keyboard is nice--but it takes getting used to that the keypad was crammed in as well.
Graphics performance is somewhat inferior--but it's a web browsing/email machine and haven't seen any issues while running Aero interface.
Build quality is rather flimsy.

Other Thoughts: Was going to get a netbook (Mini 311) for my parents--but glad this was put up for Black Friday. Same price and I think it will be a more comfortable experience for them.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the Best

Pros: Great Performance in a great Acer line. I have been looking at this line of notebooks for several weeks when it went on sale on black friday so I snatched it up. If your looking for a great laptop at a super price than this was it.

HDMI
4GB of RAM
320 GB HardDrive
DVD Burner

Cons: Not a core 2 duo just a dual core processor.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Deal

Pros: Best deal online for the money. Comparitavely, the best price online.

Cons: Don't know yet. Haven't received in the mail.

Other Thoughts: Best deal online for the money. I almost bought a computer for $100 dollars cheaper but then I realized that for $100 more I could buy a computer with twice the RAM, twice the HD space, a better processor, twice the battery life, ... it was just an all around better deal. I added up how much it would cost me to upgrade the other computer to meet the same quality/standards as this one... and just for the memory upgrades it would cost me $120.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh...

Pros: Excellent price for what you get, simple with no bling. The touch pad lock feature is a nice addition. The HDMI out feature is awesome. Plays DVD and HD media files flawlessly on my HD tv. Its nice to not have to work with VGA or S-Video cables and an audio cable anymore.

Cons: The keyboard tends to miss keys when typing. About every 1 in 10 keys is missed. I was told to test the laptop with a USB keyboard to see if it is a driver or hardware problem. I haven't done that yet due to the last desktop computer I owned had a keyboard with a Ps2 connector. Sometimes the laptop has trouble selecting the HDMI port to output audio to the tv.

Other Thoughts: I would have liked the option to press both volume buttons at the same time to mute the speakers quickly.
I would have also liked the touch pad a bit more centered to the laptop but I realize that they centered it to the keyboard which is ok too.

3 out of 5 eggsPay a little more and get something else

Pros: + Cheap(er)

+ Big screen (sigh)

+ Generous amounts of space, RAM

+ Webcam

+ HDMI

Cons: - Non-standard resolution - whoever decided 1366x768 was a good idea should be shot. I was thinking that wretched resolution went away...apparently not.

- Says Dual Core but it's a Core Duo (technically a dual core) but not a Core 2 Duo (2 MB L2) - buyer beware. The t300 is a decent chip but an aging one. Again YMMV for what you decide to do with the machine.

- Battery life. 4.5 hours on a 6cell. No sir.

- Weight

Other Thoughts: This is a decent buy if you get it for your ma/grandma/kid. Really recommdended you get the extended warranty.
