- Pros: The size is great, it's very portable and looks amazing. The build isn't so great, the right and left mouse click are completely off and I've seen pics of some people getting crooked keyboards. This is what you get with Acer though, not as solid as other brands, but hopefully this wont' be a problem in the long run.
The battery life is good, I've read reviews of people saying they got 12 hours, that's not true. Here is how mine did...Basically, I charged it to full, then unplugged it, after I unplugged it I reformatted and installed Windows 7 Ultimate, once Ultimate installed I started downloading drivers/software for a long while. I was messing around with power options, switching form balanced to power save but sticking to power save most of the time. After playing with it for about 6 hours the battery died and I charged it from 0.
HDMI/card readers/VGA/wireless N/bluetooth are all great plus's, the screen is very nice and bright as well, and resolution is perfect (high res)
- Cons: Slow to charge, the brick they give is very small so if you want even a decent charge speed you can't use it while charging. Took me about 6 hours and 15 minutes to get a full charge.
So far this is the only con I've seen, the only other thing I"d say are conflicting reviews. I think reviewers need to stop posting B S (here and amaz*n)..I've read people saying they played WoW fine in the laggiest of zones with no lag, then I see people saying their lap top can't handle it...I'm downloading WoW as we speak to test for myself, but obviously someone isn't telling the truth. Others have stated they got over 12 hours of battery life while actively using it, this too can not possibly be true.
Aside from that the only con I could imagine anyone having is the lack of optical, but who needs it with daemon tools, flash drives, etc.
- Other Thoughts: If you are upgrading the OS make sure you download launch manager (get the vista x64 one as the other ones will make it laggy) from acer's website, that will enable you to use the FN+other keys.
Excellent Laptop/Netbook
- Pros: The size is perfect, and the battery life is amazing. While on the battery, I was surfing the internet while watching TV before going to bed. I decided to keep the laptop unplugged overnight to see what would happen. I was surprised when I woke up and it was still on, with 20% battery left. Amazing. It should be noted that I did have the screen dimmed.
It comes with 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD, so no need to upgrade these. Also comes with Bluetooth, Gigabit ethernet, and 802.11n wireless. Windows 7 works great. This laptop supposedly can support hardware virtualization (Hyper-V and Windows 7 XP-mode) although there are no virtualization settings in the BIOS and I haven't personally tried this.
- Cons: The Intel video card is less than desirable. It does play HD movies and HD Youtube videos without a problem. But if you plan on doing any gaming, you can forget it. Tried to play World of Warcraft with all the settings low except for the resolution, and was getting lag in low populated areas.
The screen/viewing angle could be better. You have to move the screen because otherwise the top of the screen is lighter and the bottom is darker, or vise versa.
The laptop is shiny black, which looks nice but attracts fingerprints and scratches easily. Although I think most netbooks have this.
- Other Thoughts: If you're looking for something that is great for watching videos, surfing the internet, checking email, and word processing, then look no further. If you want something that can also play games, then I'd suggest something with a dedicated video card. All in all, this is a great netbook.
Love it!
- Pros: Light, 4 gig ddr2, core 2 duo, 802.11 a/b/g/n, camera works great, amazingly long battery life, HD video streaming capable.
- Cons: Touch pad takes some getting used to. Speakers are a bit low, but sounds good with headphones.
- Other Thoughts: I'm slowly falling for this laptop. My last lappy was a desktop replacement, so this is my first real laptop. Anyway, I've tried to push this thing hard to test it's ability and it handled very well. I'm very impressed with this laptops power and completely amazed at the battery life. I recommend this laptop to anyone who needs a pc on the go.
