4 out of 5 eggsA good system

Pros: Has been working well for more then 3 years. Most games play at moderate settings and there is a good amount of USB parts etc. When my son was looking for a computer I suggested he buy the latest version of this computer and he is very happy with the new system

Cons: Keyboard does not work well and started acting up in the first could of weeks. I usually use an external keyboard so this isn't an issue

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent value choice with a separate video card. Plays most games and it has been a good system for me.

3 out of 5 eggsHeats Up

Pros: GT 240m, Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz, LED back-lit screen

Cons: Overheats without being on a fan, even if im just browsing the internet on a flat surface it will over heat in about 30mins, i constantly have to use a laptop fan underneath and i have the bottom plate off so the fan has direct contact with the cpu and gpu. I use this laptop for gaming 3+ hours on a daily basis and plays most games on mid-high settings.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Laptop

Pros: Integrated Graphics w/Dedicated VRAM
Windows 7

Cons: Occasional Sound Issues
Bulky / Heavy

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop for use as a second desktop during extended business travel. Overall it's an excellent machine, especially for the price. I also noticed that my machine has a GeForce GT240 under the hood, rather than the 130M; it's a nice bonus. The only complaint I've had is that sound experiences significant degradation when the laptop is running on battery power alone. Though I was able to partially resolve this problem by tweaking the Windows power management settings, I still experience occasional glitches (fixable with a restart). It's also rather heavy, so I wouldn't want to carry it around too much. Bottom line: this laptop makes for an excellent desktop replacement/stand-in!

1 out of 5 eggsUnsatisfied customer

Pros: extremely fast, great graphics

Cons: I purchased this model almost a year ago and within the second month of purchasing my laptop, the 3 usb drives that it is equipped with started to malfunction and only one is workable right now. In addition, the computer was only equipped with trial software. When I purchased a Dell a few years back, my dell came with all types of software already installed and without an expiration date. Now in order to use the Microsoft software that it is equipped with I need to purchase a now one since the trial has expired. Now I realized why this model is now out of stock and why it was so inexpensive. I don't think I will ever purchase another Acer product. poor microphone quality

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad laptop for the money

Pros: Pretty fast laptop, nVidia GT240M graphics card. Nice screen(though, resolution could be a little higher). No express card or pcmcia slot.

Cons: 5400 rpm drive, fingerprint magnet, texture on trackpad

4 out of 5 eggsworks well

Pros: Good laptop for price. Got it for $700. Nvidia Gt130M. Doesn't heat up too much. ~2 hr battery life if not using power saver. Keyboard very easy to use and numpad is very helpful. Gt130m works great for watching movies and some games. I don't do heavy gaming so can't compare. Screen is bright.

Cons: Biometric scanner can be accidentally triggered since its right below trackpad. Headphone jack has interference, but not too big of an issue since I dont listen through headphones often. Took me a while to figure out wifi switch. More used to physical switch, but its a touch sensitive switch on this acer.

Other Thoughts: Have a feeling that power jack may become loose or damaged over time since it connects to laptop @ an angle an can be bent back easily. Has bluetooth button but this model doesn't have the module. Having problems getting audio to go through hdmi. Worked at first, but switched sound source and now it won't go back. Might be a windows 7 issue? Tried some forums but no solution yet.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great computer for the price. Windows 7 runs very snappy with good CPU, memory, and video card.

Numpad on keyboard is useful for number crunchers. The "chiclet" style keyboard is different, but is actually comfortable to use.

Battery life is still really long (4+ hours) with the brightness turned to the lowest setting, which is fine in most conditions.

Cons: Sound card and speakers are awful. Even when plugged into external speakers, there is still crackling.

Video resolution is only 1366x768, so if you're used to higher resolution, it will take some getting used to.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a replacement for my 4 year-old laptop that started to show signs of physical wear and it's doing a better job for about half the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Computer

Pros: This computer is fast and capable of playing the most recent computer games. Not as fast as a gaming rig, but just fast enough due to the discrete graphics. Mine came with the Geforce 240, at least according to Windows 7. Also it has a nice, large keyboard that extends from end to end of the body of the laptop, including a number pad. Also very stylish and modern design.

Cons: Only a couple of minor annoyances. The multi-touch touch pad is a bit sensitive and takes a while to get used to. Also it does make a slight static sound when the computer is loading, but it is barely audible and you won't hear it at all if you are playing games or music.

4 out of 5 eggsGood deal

Pros: - great feature set for the price
- nice graphics and keyboard
- good UI

Cons: - mildy loaded with bloatware

Other Thoughts: I replaced my thinkpad which I enjoyed, and assumed I would be buying either a dell or thinkpad. But the lenovo have gotten a little shabby and I didnt find dells pricing competitive. This system had a great feature set for the price but I was a little hesitant to try an Acer But so far I am pleased with the system. Had one bad and one good experience with their customer support when I had networking issues setting up; so can't really weigh in on that yet.

2 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for

Pros: -Got the better 240m video card
-Full size keyboard with number pad
-Power plug makes solid stable connection
-4 usb ports (esata doubles as additional USB connection)
Dark midnight blue case looks attractive and is very dark
-DVD multidrive

Cons: -Low resolution screen is outdated and lacking in every way
-5400rpm HDD is the true downfall of this system
-fingerprint magnet (case, keys, screen cover)
-cheap case, thin plastic, sharp unfinished edges, flexes
-very poor battery life, battery on the cheap side 2 hrs max
-extreme bloatware
-port placement not user friendly too forward on the sides
-touchpad buttons are not quality design and lack usability

Other Thoughts: Popping crackling sound not fixed with any drivers anywhere. The latest one on Acer's site takes out the microphone.
The poor sound popping and crackling make this laptop worthless. Battlefield Bad Company 2 unplayable on lowest settings. Was forced to return this laptop due to sound system defect. Latest driver direct from Realtek makes it "better" but far from fixed.
