Really like this netbook. Battery life is good, but when playing videos it does kill it quicker. Despite the small size, ...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat netBook

Pros: Everything... Nice keyboard which allows my large fingers to use without issues. Display is sharp. Upgraded the memory to 2GB without issues. Ordered the memory from the Egg... KVR667D2SO/2GR Battery life is very good. Wireless works great... Get the picture? :)

Cons: Nothing so far

2 out of 5 eggsNice system

Pros: lots of features easy to install drivers, 7starter went bye bye very fast. XP drivers were on acer's website very power efficient.

Cons: the built in Mic is not seen by XP there is no Driver on Acer's website when attempting to contact them all i get is A problem has been encountered. Your question could not be processed. If i hadnt seen it I would think the mic was not there but if its built in all i need is the correct driver that was not on acer's website

Other Thoughts: System runs Xp very well, keyboard and touch pad are seamless install, 7 drivers were already in XP, if you are going to tune up the machine and do away with 7 change sata to IDE mode so you can change partitions

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Piece of Hardware

Pros: Bought this netbook to replace a 17" behemoth that fried 2 video adapters, the motherboard itself, and finally a hard drive. I had it undervolted and using a Zalman cooling pad through it's 2.5 year lifespan. I have a second PC, which has plenty of power in it to do anything I could have possibly fathomed doing in a laptop, so I simply was not interested in power for this purchase, only keeping heat from being an issue, and being able to work away from my wall plug b/c battery life had dwindled to ~20 minutes... max.

Using my 17" laptop's cooling pad, and removing the battery while plugged into the wall with this netbook yields a totally worry-free experience and the entire case feels cool to the touch, even after a few hours of use. With Ubuntu 10.04 netbook remix, battery life peaks at around 6.5 hours with the most basic power management settings (essentially, the default ones). Mouse pad is a bit close to the space bar and I hit it quite often, but each it's less and less.

Cons: Because I knew beforehand I would be getting something meant for portability and light-use, I knew I wasn't getting a truly high performing computer, therefore, I have no complaints.

Space bar and mouse pad are a little too close, but I have gotten used to it more and more each day, so it becomes less frequent that I look to add a space and wind up scrolling down a page.

Other Thoughts: To correct a few of the people who complained about memory on this computer... YES, it accepts 2 GB sticks, I ordered a stick with model number: KVR667D2SO/2GR right here off Newegg, for $46.99 (Aug. 2010 price) and it registers in Ubuntu 10.04 netbook remix as 2 GB. Performance is noticeably better and altogether the experience is more enjoyable with the added memory.

The machine looks durable (and beautiful) and there are plenty of vents for warm air to escape, unlike my 17" laptop, which had 2 small exhausts... score one for Gateway design on that one.

Overall, I feel as though I'm happier with this than I would have been with anything else. It's nice to sit outside for a few hours and surf the web than be holed up in an ice box trying to keep my laptop from frying something else inside it.

2 out of 5 eggsAce in the hole

Pros: Light weight. Best sized keyboard on a netbook I've seen, period. LCD well lit and battery light is outstanding.

Cons: Very big con, which caused me to sell mine. Memory is not upgradeable. Newegg says it is, other places online say it is, going to Acer's website says this particular model *IS NOT*. One gig is all it will take. Order two different 2 gig sticks from Newegg to attempt an upgrade, learned the hard way it would not. Returned ram and sold netbook.

Other Thoughts: Sorry to say, this was the only netbook to fit my large man hands. But the inability to upgrade the ram is a costly and unfrogiveable oversight. So this thing had to go. :(

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Netbook

Pros: Performs as advertised. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix (UNR), and everything worked out of the box. I get about 6 hours battery life with moderately heavy usage.

Cons: It came with an outdated BIOS. It was necessary to update to the latest rev before the CORSAIR 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) upgrade would work.

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 Starter is trash, I never even booted it up.

It is a good idea to install the Linux wireless backports modules to prevent the wireless connection from sometimes dropping.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than mini and EEE

Pros: Super fast for a netbook. sleek and thin <1inch, expandable to 2gb. nice bright clear screen, lite, keyboard is not cramped like other netbooks, keyboard is responsive and acurate.

Cons: runs warm on idle, fingerprint magnet, win 7 starter...but if u look at it in a netbook point of view the windows 7 "lite" saves space and loads faster than "full" matte finish on tuch pad.

Other Thoughts: i have used minis and EEE and this Acer kicks but. It load quick with AVG free, Zone alarm and teatimer running in background. (i have yet to install UltraISo with virtual cdrom but it should load as quick). The power pluck looks like u can change the end adaptor for Oversease needs rather than buying a whole new one. This isnt my first netbook, i plan on using it while onsite repairs, and this thing is quick. i meen quick. Ive used netbooks and isntlled security software and other things that dont really bog down a machine but would seem to bog down the atom, till this sucker get one with this cpu and chip set and youll be cooking.

5 out of 5 eggsNetbook Review

Pros: Windows 7 Starter
Over 8 hours of battery life on average use
Multi-Touch trackpad
Wireless-N networking
93% full size keyboard

Cons: No personalization options available in Windows 7 Starter Edition
Does not include a sleeve or cleaning cloth

Other Thoughts: I have been very happy with my Acer Aspire One netbook. I have used it at school opposed aging classroom PCs. I have also used when I am on the go.

I have been amazed by the performance on this machine. I am able to multi-task without any serious slow downs. I am able to have a browser, word processor and media player operate responsively while open at the same time.

I have enjoyed using the built-in Multi-Touch trackpad. It has been very unique to be able to use gestures to control my computers. I have been able to use gestures to navigate webpages in Internet Explorer and zoom in on photos in Windows Photo Viewer.

I have had no problem using Windows 7 Starter on this machine. The limitations of Windows 7 Starter have not bothered me. I still have access to Windows 7 features such as Aero Snaps, Action Center, Windows Media Player 12, Jumplists, Device Stage and ReadyBoost. Windows 7 Starter is an overall improvement to Windows XP Home on a Netbook.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat netbook

Pros: great battery life plenty of power for a net book

Cons: only has a gig of ram which was fixed , added windows 7 ultimate 64 and joli cloud and its a great system

Other Thoughts: not sure why acer would state that it only takes 1 gig running 2 on mine just fine windows 7 started is junk
added 7 ultimate and it was perfect had to go to intel's website for the video drivers which was a a pain.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little web machine

Pros: I am impressed. Highly portable, great display, good battery life, good WiFi range/strength. Connectivity is easy, immediately found and easily connected to my network WiFi printer. Keyboard almost normal size. Fast bootup and network connection. Makes a great little web access appliance.

Cons: None for a netbook at this price point. (I spent more for my Desktop video card alone)! You should though anticipate a need to upgrade the memory.

Other Thoughts: After reading numerous reviews on all the netbooks, I planned ahead to upgrade memory to 2 GB, and after doing so noted improved performance, particularly video. You also need to plan on a USB external combo or DVD burner drive. So far Win7 starter works fine and seems adequate for how I use the netbook.

4 out of 5 eggsnice netbook and portable.

Pros: light weight long battery life does more than I expected. It does video encoding and rendering and plays you tube well.

Cons: 1 GB of ram is not enough. windows 7 starter is junk I put windows 7 home premium 64 bit on it runs a lot better with the windows 7 upgrade. Acer puts a lot of junk on on windows 7 starter. the cpu needs to be more powerful. needs to include 2 GB of ram.

Other Thoughts: Other than the issues I stated above it well worth the money good buy if you can afford it.
