5 out of 5 eggsExcellent bang for buck

Pros: Excellent value for price (also got it when it was on sale).

Didn't expect to use HDMI-out much, but it does work well.

SD card slot supports SD-HC cards. I've only used it with microSDHC cards via SD adapter, but it has worked fine all the way through class 6 speeds. Spring is a little tight, which is good, but I didn't figure out that it had the "push in to eject" feature for the first week.

Win7 Home Premium is nice. Didn't come with too much bloatware, but enough you'll spend the first few hours uninstalling things and adding your own A/V and other programs.

Battery life is excellent, but I'm coming from a 4.5 yr-old ACER whose battery lasts a whopping 10 minutes at best.

I'm not fond of the shorter and wider display, but the extra width allows for the full numeric keypad so that's a plus if you need to use a calculator regularly.

Multi-touch pad takes a bit of getting used to, but that and the zoom section of the touchpad can

Cons: HDMI works well... not great but well. Tried to play a couple 1080p MKV videos via VLC out to an external LCD screen and they were jittery. Easiest fix is switching the display settings for the external monitor to 720p. Looks almost as crisp and plays smoothly.

Default screen resolution numbers seem a bit odd at 1366x768, but the aspect ratio is good.

I do miss having programmable buttons for stuff like the calculator, mail, etc.

Other Thoughts: I tend to accidentally hit the touchpad when typing (which works as a left mouse button when you tap it), but that feature can be turned off in the mouse settings so it's not really a Con.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Notebook for the Price!

Pros: -Price (got it when it was on sale for $450)
-Screen looks beautiful.
-Mesh cover looks and feels great.
-Battery life is pretty good.
-Shipping was super fast.
-Not alot of bloatware.

Cons: None so far. Oh, it did not come with a copy of Windows 7 but I knew that already so it was no biggie.

Other Thoughts: I needed a notebook ASAP because my other one broke and I was on a tight budget. I was looking around for awhile when I bumped into this one. At first I was reluctant to buy it since I never bought an Acer notebook before. But I read the reviews, did a bit of research, and went with my gut feeling.

This notebook totally blew my expectations. I mean its not a top of the line notebook but trust me it is totally worth the money. I mainly use it for school, web browsing, and movies. The Radeon HD 4250 is nice for light gaming, but im not much of a PC gamer anyways. Will upgrade to 8GB and a faster HDD in the future. Overall, it was a great buy and I will buy from Acer again. Quality product at a very sweet price. Don't hesitate to buy it, just do it!

5 out of 5 eggsLove this laptop!

Pros: Absolutely love this laptop! When I got it and took it out of the box I was incredibly surprised at how lightweight it is.
It runs very quiet and does not even get very warm.
Plays HD video beautifully and is very fast!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great laptop for the price. Can play games such as the sims, but don't depend on this laptop for hardcore gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsbetter than expected

Pros: for the price laptop preforms much better than expected. son plays all his games and find no problem. He love the video chat with skype. Easy to set up and getting started, great first time laptop.

Cons: Comes loaded with junk software & adware. I would much rather buy a little more and get a clean install of the OS, Acer come on give us a break!!!

4 out of 5 eggssurprised

Pros: got laptop for sons birthday. Graphics, speed, just about everything exceeded our expectations. For the price you would be hard pressed to beat this machine. Son is playing all his games, love the skype video chatting, etc.

Cons: This is always a problem when buying a computer with pre installed OS. this machine was laoded with ( new egg would not let me use the word I had first typed) garbage adware!!!!!!! Come on = I wish the builder of these machines would offer a clean install of the OS. I would gladly pay alittle more and get a machine that has only what I want in it. New Egg say something to these people !!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsMore then I thought

Pros: Fast, great display. Bought this same laptop from the college I am going to. Had a dell with a amd daul 2.1 the biggest graphics card that model offered and paid over 700 from the dell.com. that was two years ago and i had nothing but problems from the start with well over christmas break the thing fried. and forced me to buy a new laptop. this one blows the dell outta the water. keys and touchpad feel better and the led is great. Im really really happy already with going with acer. Cant ask for better for the price you pay. I use this laptop only for school. its fast nice and light wieght and tons of room for my music and progects plus its got a hdmi with was i use out for presentations for my internship.

Cons: the keyboard has the numpad. keys r spaced out really good but i find myself placeing my hands in the middle like you would on a normal laptop. but its not really a con i just rest my finger on the enter key alot.

Other Thoughts: Not a big gamer, with laptops since i have a home built desktop for that but anyways i played around on this laptop to see what it could do. Plays sins of solar empire on high, sims 3 high, supreme commander FA on medium to high, CODMW2 on normal to high playable even thur battle sences. Now, this is far as i got with the collection of games i have its a college and work laptop no reason to play games just wanted to let you know it can play modern games and be playable.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and works great.

Pros: If you just need a daily laptop for browsing facebook, writing e-mails and doing a little work... this is perfect.

Cons: Laptop speaker is quiet and lacks quality (of course)... get a nice pair of headsets if you're going to be listening to a lot of music.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Upgradeable and easy on the eyes there is not a lot to complain about. For the price there isn't better. For the weight it screams. Not the high end you may be looking for yet does everything I ask it to. Linux geeks rejoice because it has nothing left to configure aside from multitouch in Linux. Windows 7 Pro picked everything up beautifully with the drivers provided by Acer.

Cons: Acer's driver site really needs some help. I found my model and OS just fine yet there are three different drivers for the touchpad. The third was the right one for me (Synaptic mouse). But I had to install one at a time till I got to that one. That was slightly a problem. Also that brings up the fact that the bloatware installed was too much for me and this laptop didn't run well with it. A quick reinstall solved everything, but that was from a DVD I had, not one provided. Another con. Also, Linux doesn't like the multitouch unless I run a script, but for 99% of the buyers that won't be a problem.

Other Thoughts: Eventually I have everything running beautifully. Linux Mint 10 runs like I wanted it to, beautifully. Windows 7 pro works after some light tooling. The hardware is awesome, although I will be upgrading to 8gb of RAM ASAP, but that is just me. Most people will be just fine with the speed, and for the price and dedicated video card it will play civ5 beautifully. All in all it is a great laptop that has wonderful potential.

2 out of 5 eggsAcer's customer service is so bad, it trumps any poisitves from their product

Pros: Acceptable laptop for the price. Runs quieter and cooler than most Inspirons I have owned.

Cons: This didn't ship with backup copies of installed software on DVD. The software exists in a hidden partition on the hard drive. Acer requires you to make backup copies of the software when you turn the computer on for the first time. Yeah, that's what I want to do when I get a new toy, is spend my time doing what the company should have done in the first place.

This notebook also comes absolutely L-O-A-D-E-D with crapware. So I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro here and decided to wipe out the HDD and start from scratch. Well, I ran into a problem with a missing driver. Not all the drivers for this machine are on their website.

So I called tech support for help. They told me loading Win 7 Pro would void the warranty. Yes, you read that right. According to Acer, loading Win 7 Home is okay but loading Win 7 Pro is unsupported.

Isn't there a decent laptop company other there?

3 out of 5 eggsWatch the Power button!

Pros: Love the keyboard screen brightness adjustment! The low-profile keyboard minimizes missed keystrokes. Clean, crisp display is easy on older eyes. Preloaded software is relevant and useful. No 'bloatware as far as I can see. very pleased with this purchase! NewEgg.com shipped the unit quickly VERY well packed!
Thanks for the great service, folks!

Cons: The power button is placed in the upper left corner of the keyboard adjacent to left screen hinge. VERY easy to hit accidentally when picking up the computer. Screen hinges seem a bit loose for me. Screen changes viewing angle with very little effort - accidental or intentional.

Acer tech support for 'non-warrantied issues' is expensive $129/90 minutes minimum charge. Must burn your own recovery disks or purchase them separately from Acer for $19.99.

Other Thoughts: Be certain to have your log-on info written down and accessable and burn the recovery disks immediately. Forgotten password means reformat of hard drive. This is the third Acer computer I've owned - a P4 desktop, a netbook were the previous two. Both provided long life with few problems that I didn't initiate with my inexperience. This looks like it will be another solid computer. Well worth the money! Kudos to Acer and NewEgg.com!!
