4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good enough graphics card to run every game I've tried at decent FPS/quality. CPU is honestly overkill for just about everything, and you will very rarely have RAM issues.

Build quality seems good, I haven't run into any issues after 1.5 years.
- Keyboard is solidly made and very usable.
- Plenty of ports built in.
- Screen is amazing.

Cons: - Keyboard is hard to clean and catches a lot of stuff.
- Fan does not deal well with graphics card running at max; the left side of the laptop can get extremely warm - overheating (bluescreen) is possible in hot weather.
- Battery does not last long.
- Screen is unusable in sunlight due to glare.
- Built in webcam/mic is awful. The mic is effectively useless unless you get extremely close to the screen.
- Touchpad buttons are hard to use.
- The hard drive is noticeably slow.

Other Thoughts: This is a good laptop for the price if you're willing to deal with a slow HDD and care more about wired performance than battery life.

3 out of 5 eggsOK Laptop

Pros: Decent processor
Decent Graphics Card

Cons: Slow HDD.
Gets HOT!
Monitor crapped out and I had to send it in for repairs. Their customer service wasn't bad in my experience though. I just went to acer website and filled out a form and sent it in. It took about 2 weeks for them to fix it and send it back and I haven't had problems with it since then.

Other Thoughts: I just got SWTOR and this machine runs it not so well. It takes forever to load the game and I run it on low setitngs getting about 20-30 fps. I would recommend upgrading the HDD if you plan on using this machine on gaming.

1 out of 5 eggsbroken computer

Pros: When it works its a nice laptop

Cons: few days of having it it wouldn't boot. company made me reformat 3 times wasting about a week of my time. then fix it and 3 months later or so I start getting blue screens and I don't dare call because I know there going to waste a week of my time. I will never buy a acer again.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Laptop for a Great Price

Pros: -Simply amazing performance when you consider the price. It runs games so fast that it could almost be called a gaming laptop. At consistently playable framerates, it plays all areas of Oblivion at native resolution and all high settings, and 42-player Crysis: Warhead multiplayer matches at all high ettings and 1280x720. Just look around--most other laptops in this price range can't even come close to that.
-At its brightest setting, the screen is definitely visible in broad daylight (not vibrant, but visible). Also, direct sunlight is reflected back at you from inside the screen, so at the right angle you can still see what you're doing even on the dimmest setting.
-Because of its formidable hardware, it's good at almost anything else other than gaming, as well, including video and image editing, and, of course, DVD playback.

Cons: -It doesn't seem all that durable. The screen bends easily, and the casing presses inward when pressure is applied.
-After owning it for about two months, I've gotten about five blue-screen crashes. I admit, I have not yet invetigated their cause.
-Pretty much the only thing keeping me from calling this a modest "gaming laptop" is the battery life. I timed it: from full charge, I could play Crysis: Warhead for 40 minutes before the battery was 90% depleted.
-Yes, it does get quite hot--while gaming. Otherwise, it's as cool as if it were turned off.
-Something about the backlight turns most blacks into grays. Don't expect perfect display of brightnesses.

Other Thoughts: Ideal for those on a budget who want to play some of the most complex games with few problems and don't have a problem with being restrained to a power outlet while doing so. And can I say again--it plays Crysis on high for $700!

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Support, Decent Laptop

Pros: Good performance for a good price.

Cons: You get what you pay for. Customer support is horrible and I will not be buying ACER ever again.

Keyboard sucks. 5 keys broke over 2 months and they require me to send the entire computer back for 2 weeks to replace the keys.

-One speaker
-Cheap plastic case
-Ok cooling for idle use. Horrible cooling for long term gamming.
-Terrible screen and resolution.

Other Thoughts: Good price, but you get what you pay for. Nothing fancy about this computer. If you rely on customer service, dont go with ACER.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Computer A+

Pros: Fast, good graphics, Low Cost, great value for the money, Plays League of Legends like a pro while listening to music. Multi tasks well.

Cons: Things get behind the keys prety easy so buy a can of air if your a neat freak like me lol.

Other Thoughts: This computer is PERFECT for anyone looking for a good gaming laptop. This thing runs like a champ, very little "junk" added to the computer out of the box. This thing is LIGHT weight and does the job well if ur looking for something around 700$ This computer cant be beat for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: If you are a gamer and you are trying to keep your price under a $1,000 this is the best for you. It has a great processor and CPU. It has a good amount of hard drive space. The processor is great. The computer can run all my games on high settings smoothly. I play games such as Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2, EVE, and ARMA

Cons: The only things i can find wrong with it is that it runs warm whenever you are playing a game. The keyboard isnt as bad as everyone has said about it. It isn't flimsy, it is just like the one i had before it and i dont mind it but it does have pretty big gaps between the keys

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was looking for a cheaper laptop with a graphics card, and this was perfect! It can handle anything I throw at it! It's a fast computer (or fast enough for me, at least.) It has not given me any problems so far.

Cons: The bottom will run hot after awhile or while gaming. The battery life is not the best, either. Bloatware takes a little time to remove.

Other Thoughts: I'm a to-be college student who was looking for a cheap-ish laptop that could run games. This laptop is great!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing deal

Pros: -Powerful GPU for a laptop under $1,000
-Mid-range CPU, but is more than enough to handle any game out there
-Could use some more memory, but again, at this price 4GB of RAM is more than fair

-Games I've played on it so far: Singularity, Wolfenstein, Metro 2033, Mass Effect 1&2, Dragon Age 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Bioshock 2, Darksiders, and Crysis 2. So far, I've played every game with high graphics settings and have run into almost no graphics lag at all (FPS has never fallen below 30) with resolution set to 1366x768.

Like most other users have noted, this laptop has amazing specs for the price. I was about to spend $1,200 on a new Dell XPS 15 with similar hardware (albeit with a slightly faster processor), until I noticed this laptop for $500 less

Cons: -The bloatware is a mild inconvenience, but is easy enough to get rid of
-Keyboard isn't illuminated/backlit which is becoming more common in laptops these days, but this isn't a huge deal
-The battery can be used up pretty quickly, luckily I've kept the laptop plugged in most of the time I've used it
-The speakers aren't great, but they aren't awful either

None of these issues are enough to warrant a -1 egg for me, though these are more important for others

Other Thoughts: The only time this laptop has lagged was when I played Crysis 2 through my HDTV at 1920x1080. After setting the res back to 1366x768, there was no lag (and it looked almost identical to when I was playing at 1080), so it does have some issues if you try to make it play at 1080. Otherwise the GPU can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it surprisingly well.

As for the heat issue some people note, I've kept this laptop on top of a Cooler Master U2 cooling pad I bought specifically for this laptop, and so far it seems to run cool, even when playing intensive games.

If you're looking for an upper mid-range laptop for under $1,000, this is a great option. Just make sure you have a cooling pad and don't keep it unplugged from the charger for too long, and this laptop will be golden
