3 out of 5 eggsMediocre at Best

Pros: -Lightweight
-1080p Resolution

Cons: -Mediocre Battery Life
-Mediocre Memory
-Sony Vaio Keyboard Back-lighting software is bugged. Will only light up upon keypress even if you changed settings.
-No Microphone jack even though it's listed in specs

Other Thoughts: I got this laptop because it matched a lot of the preferences I wanted for a college laptop. I'm a computer science major so I wanted something that would allow me to program no problem, had a good resolution, and lightweight. The battery life is pretty standard but for the ultrabook processor, it is very underwhelming. Please note as well that this is the ultrabook i5 processor. Normal mobile i5s will be much faster but also drain battery life faster so you would think this laptop could at least last longer for the deficiency but it doesn't. The keyboard backlighting is also glitched to where it only lights up upon keypress. Changing and updating the Vaio software that controls this has not changed it at all.

Overall, this laptop is slower than most laptops its size, has a standard battery life, ram needs to be upgraded, and keyboard is bugged. Only saving grace is the 1080p resolution and its weight. If I could choose again, I think I would have took a much heavier notebook that was much faster.

5 out of 5 eggsSometimes there is a bad egg, but not this one

Pros: Affordable touch screen, fast and furious speed (mind you, unlike the other reviewer I immediately upgraded the the spindle hard drive to a Monster 240gb SSD), it can work with the shipped drive, but as a hybrid system, it needs time to get use to your habits with software use and will start to load those programs you use more, faster. I also upped the memory to 8gb which activates the dual channel 1600mhz effective (when using 2 - 4gb dimms) vs single channel 800mhz effective (1- 4gb DIMM) it ships with. I didn't buy mine here, I got it at a local retailer, although Newegg is an awesome retailer.

Cons: right click on touch pad is a little touchy as the other reviewer mentioned, although I never tried to calibrate it, so it may be possible to tune it a little. I find to do right click I have to put a little extra emphasis on it to make it work right.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Touchscreen, fairly light, large screen.

Cons: All hardware components are trash. From the hard drive to the nac, everything is painfully slow. This laptop is much, much slower then it should be, even brand new right out of the box. Windows 8 freezes and crashes constantly since day 1. I have to force it to restart a few times per day. My phone performs better then this computer did brand new. Almost all of the Sony bloatware didn't work out of the box and still doesn't. It's impossible to right click using the mouse pad. The internal mic makes a constant buzzing sound and the WiFi is completely unreliable. This computer has become so slow and unreliable in just a couple of months with almost nothing running on it that I don't even use it anymore unless I absolutely have to. I'll either use my refurbished tablet or wait until I get home on my desktop to do work.
