5 out of 5 eggsGreat General Laptop

Pros: Great overall quality. Does not feel cheap (Its a VAIO, what do you expect? Its not those horrible Acer laptops)
Thoughtful design like the right angle power connector.
Also included is velcro for wire organization on ur pwr supply.
4GB of RAM makes a huge diff. +++
2.1Ghz Dual core is mehh.
4 USB drives = +
SD card reader = +
Numpad!
Not much bloatware to get rid of.
Windows 7 is great step up from Vista.
Doesnt get too hot, including the Power supply.
Smart and awesome design to tilt the laptop a few degrees upward so ur rear bottom is exposed in cool air and not blocked flat on a surface.

Cons: Black shiny area around the touchpad is too shiny and leaves Fingerprint/skin oil marks on it and is recognizable.
Also what is up with the slight touch of the glittery stuff? You cant see it from the Newegg picture but Yes.. there are bright sparkly white glitters on the black touchpad area like its some 5 yr old girl's manicure.
-Power plug is on the side? Depends on ur personal preference though. For me, i like it in the back.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great laptop. Its fast for internet browsing, Office usage, general purpose.
Have not tried its graphics capacity of the ATI Mobility HD4250 yet.
Will test some more heavy duty stuff, but then again, this is not a $2000 laptop.
Only owned it for couple days. Will come back couple months later for in-depth review.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD FOR COLLEGE

Pros: Bought this for College in September And it seems pretty good...

-Dual core
-4gbs ram
-Nice Resolution/No dead pixels
-DOES NOT GET TOO HOT

Cons: -Fingerprint MAGNET
-Sparkly Bottom under the keyboard by the touchpad
-Hard to clean the touch pad because of raised bumps as grip
- NO DEDICATED VIDEO MEMORY =( going to have to buy a 4 gb stick to bump it up to 6gbs ram so it will be 5.75Gbs

Other Thoughts: For college and the price this is a great laptop....i don't like the sparkles by the touchpad...looks too girly...i figured oh this is black so it wont look so bad....i was wrong....speed is fine for a dual core

4 out of 5 eggsGood out of the box Laptop

Pros: It simply just works out of the box!

There were few *extra* junk applications to get in the way.. Replacement of A/V products was not the normal hassle The included software made most needs doable. This machine can play many to most current games.

Seems like a sturdy built machine
THIS LAPTOP DOES NOT GET TERRIBLY HOT!! YAY :)
My last 5 machines would burn you alive, this does not even worked hard, sure it may get fairly warm at times but it is not its norm.
The 90 degree angle power plug on the side of the laptop is more convenient and less likely to be damaged
Nice to have flash media devices in the front. and switch for wifi.

Cons: The power supply seems under powered, underbuilt, and overly hot, in fact its very hot most of the time.. Be sure to never cover it with anything or it might burn out or maybe start a fire.
I am using an older PSU from another of our older Viao laptops that has the same voltages but much higher wattage capacity and this seems a good combination.

Other Thoughts: The ability to change what the Assist button does, along with a few additional media buttons, not just the Fn + fkey for volumeand brightness would be nice. and a replica of the Thinkpad keyboard light would also be nice, but that is a desire I have of most other laptops

5 out of 5 eggsGood laptop

Pros: This is good laptop. I use it for some lighter gaming such as Torchlight and Diablo 2; and I get a great frame rate with Quake Live as well. I also having it running .Net 2008 and it runs it pretty well. I have been able to keep up with some of my side development using it.

Cons: I wish it had a higher resolution but, for the price range I can't complain.

Other Thoughts: For daily tasks it is phenomenal. For heavier ones it is pretty capable as long as you're not asking it to be a major gaming rig. Overall a great buy for the price.
