5 out of 5 eggsVery nice Laptop

Pros: High performace with i7
Geforce 540 is an excellent graphics card
good cooling system- even while playing games, the computer stays cool

Cons: fairly heavy, not the most portable laptop, but thats to be expected with a big laptop
only 4Gbs of RAM, but it only costs $20 to upgrade to 8GBs

Other Thoughts: Very good laptop for the price, i got it on sale for $850. Even for $1079, you get what you pay for

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: I bought this laptop when it was on sale for $850 on Newegg, which seemed like a steal, and it was. This laptop is great. The screen is excellent and video looks amazing. The battery life is very good. Everything works quickly and smoothly, with only a small amount of bloatware.

Cons: The trackpad sucks, but I don't like trackpads on laptops in general. Also, the price is now about $1100. Only 4GB of RAM, but I installed an additional 4GB for only $20 more.

Other Thoughts: If you can find this for less than $1000, I would purchase it immediately. You will not regret it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for your Buck

Pros: Great Performance. Good gaming laptop without the gaming price. Currently playing Diablo 3 without any issues. Game runs just fine on high graphics. Like the other poster I dropped another 4 gigs of Ram in for $20. The 7200 RPM HD is a plus. I was able to pick this up on sale for $850. It's well worth the price. The touchpad does take a bit to get used to with the single click button but I normally just plug in a mouse when I am gaming. Overall this is a very powerful laptop for the price.

Cons: Normal amount of bloatware installed on, but can be removed.

5 out of 5 eggssony viao rocks

Pros: Great price for what you are getting. This is one of the high end laptops on the market for a very reasonable price. It works like champ from the first day on.

Cons: Nothing so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop!

Pros: I agree with all the last poster said and pretty much everything else on the rest of the reviews. But I don't think its an ugly or unattractive laptop as some have hinted. I added 4 more gigs of ram for the heck of it because its so cheap. It was fast before but now its even quicker. Bought this to replace my 9 year old HP laptop (may it rest in peace) and there of course is no comparison. I loaded Diablo 3 on here and Game of Thrones Game as well and have played a little of both and so far and I'm very happy with the results. The fan becomes noise becomes noticeable (not that loud) while playing games but it is on the side so you don't have to worry about the heat on your legs, etc. Ive also loaded some movies and they play seamlessly. I've only had it a little over a week but if it continues to preform as well or better than it has this was a fantastic purchase for 849.00. And still a good deal for the current price. Go get one now!

Cons: To Much bloatwear as usual

4 out of 5 eggsGreat bargain.

Pros: Great video/graphics
Power
Price

Cons: Some of the included software.
Some of the not included software.

Other Thoughts: Upgrading from a four year-old laptop, wanted 1080p, dedicated video, and i7 cpu.

Was blown away by the performance compared to my old one. Most laptops with those components are in the $1,400.00 range, I was happy to get this one on sale for $850.00. Components are components, it's just the shell they sit in that makes the difference.

As far as the laptop itself, the lid is sturdy, no slop. Nothing about the aesthetics seems cheap. Not fancy looking, but then again, it's the performance that counts. Nice layout of the illuminated keyboard.

Little bit of bloatware that becomes non-functional after 30 days. Not a big deal to me. No MS Office. I had an extra product key, so it didn't matter to me, but if you are looking for that kind of suite already on it, you might want to look around.

As far as fan noise, it's no louder than the laptop I replaced. The fan exhaust ports on the side are a bit larger than most laptops. I'm guessing this is why you hear more noise.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat lattop

Pros: 1080 is great can't edit on a 720 laptop. i got for $850 and added 4GB ram for 20 bucks what a steal

Fast responsive, i use for editing with adobe premiere, it has 99 Cuda cores, which seems to be enough to accelerate with mercury playback.

puts off some heat but doesn't overheat has medium loud fan to be expected

has 2 USB3 ports witch is a Pro except it maxes out at 58 mb/s still better then usb2.0

has mini firewire...interesting... if you need to use for live mini DV cam feed for video analysis

Cons: looks nice but feels plasiky and a bit bulky when closed mainly because of the screen shape... odd edge older Viso shape better

no pci express...
no Esata :(

Other Thoughts: just have to add to list of cuda cards in adobe and it will work with murcury engin, there are a bunch of vids online showing how.
not as fast as my main editing tower but good enough for HD footage
think i might try D3 on it, thinking it will be awesome... not sure

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for the price

Pros: This Lappy is smokin as far as performance is concerned. I mainly bought this laptop so I could start doing some video editing and the bonus was it comes with Sony Vegas Platinum HD 10 pre-installed. With this laptop, I was able to get a full frame 720p HD video with two Picture-in-Picture boxes also running 720p HD and it was running smoothly in the Preview window. My other laptop would screech to a halt with only one PIP box.

I don't have any newer PC games since I didn't have a machine to run them on. The newest game I have is Quake 4 and it runs smoothly at full 1080p resolution and high detail.

I also do a lot of Video encoding into h.264 and I can't believe how fast this laptop spits out the encode. A video that would normally take 2 hours to encode on my old laptop only takes 30 minutes with this bad boy.

The last this is this thing doesn't get hot at all. I know a hot laptop since my last one got super hot to the touch under extreme load such as encoding videos.

Cons: The trackpad sucks for 2 reasons. I disable tapping so I always use the trackpad buttons but on the one on this laptop is a single bar. Left click seems to be fine but I usually hit the middle of the button bar instead of clicking the right button. It's something I'll have to get use to. The major suck is that the trackpad doesn't have 2 finger scrolling. Instead it uses "Chiral" scrolling which you scroll up and down using a circular motion. It's neat but hard to get used to since you have to start the scroll from the far right of the trackpad which also scrolls up and down the old way. The problem is that it's easy to miss that region to start the Chrial scroll unless you widen the region under the mouse settings but then you lose a little more trackpad real estate.

The other Con for me is the backlit keyboard. There is no way to permanently disable the light. You could only set the dim time. The problem is with the island style keys, the light spills out the sides of the keys.

Other Thoughts: Looks are subjective but I don't feel this laptop has the typical "Sony Style" look. This laptop has a very industrial look with very angled edges instead of a more contemporary looking rounded design. Also, the VGA port just juts out of the side instead of being flush, not very Sony like. Though the looks are growing on me every day.

The fan on this machine does get quite loud under extreme load but typically stays pretty quiet if your doing casual stuff like surfing the internet.

A peculiar thing with this laptop is it connects to my Widows Homegroup using Ethernet but won't using Wifi so it won't see my other computers.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this Laptop at the price I got it for but I probably wouldn't pay what it's going for now.

5 out of 5 eggsBEST LAPTOP

Pros: Light up keyboard when 1st key is pushed.
Upgradable to 8GB
Upgradable to BluRay
Super amazing design!
Sleek look to feel like "it's yours"
Comfortable & 1000's of features
1080p HD screen sharp and can run resolution 1920x1080

Cons: Programs preinstalled by Sony are not as bad as most other companies such as HP or Toshiba, but still will slow your PC down, so you won't get the full potential out of it.
I installed Win7 Ultimate x64bit and runs 10x faster than it used to. I was going to install a 256GB Samsung SSD, but the HDD is at 7200 RPM and super quick, so the need for extra speed is unnecessary.

Other Thoughts: This is by far the best laptop you could ask for, for the money and if you spending it on any other brand within a hundred dollars price range of this laptop, just go with this! Newegg shipped it super fast and they were reliable with service. Happy to say I will purchase from New Egg again.
I may start doing youtube reviews as well.
I will also put them to benchmark tests, and so much more!

Overall this laptop will dominate, I even OC'd this thing to 2.8Ghz standard! Impressive ?
Overclock at your own risk

Again, thank you newegg for this amazing laptop and I will be making purchases again from you! Possibly preferred over tiger direct! (funny it's an inappropriate word on newegg lol)

Thanks,
TC Computer-Tech
