4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Laptop

Pros: -Backlit full size keyboard is very comfortable
-1080p screen (gorgeous, I really love it. Blu-rays look incredible)
-i7 Processing power, very fast
-520m provides for some decent gaming
-Sony's trackpad is pretty good in my opinion. I like it better than a smooth trackpad that can get nasty looking after a while. This one stays clean and has some texture, so it is easy to use.
-Speakers are great! Though there is no subwoofer, sounds come up very clear when I am playing games. I can actually hear footsteps in CS:S pretty clearly and I was very happy when I found this out. Music sounds pretty good too, though the bass is a bit weak since there is no sub.

Cons: -A bit heavy
-520m just decent for gaming nowadays
-Fan runs a little loud under serious load
-Sony ships the laptop loaded with all kinds of software, I uninstalled all I could)
-Battery life is just okay. Won't really last more than 2 hours when browsing the internet with 4/5 applications open
-Power cord block is large

Other Thoughts: I like this laptop overall. I recieved it as a gift so it is not actually the one I would choose at this budget ($900 at the time), but it is pretty nice. The screen is beautiful, though some others do not like Sony's screens. It is very easy on my eyes and at 16.4" I believe it looks very nice.

Windows 7 runs flawlessly, I leave the computer on for days and days with no hiccups. I believe when I upgrade to Windows 8 with a clean install, it will make a very big difference due to some bloatware shipped with the computer.

Sony's software is okay (though it simply crashes for no reason after a while), nVidia driver updates are large but painless.

All in all, would I suggest someone to get this laptop? Only at the right price. I personally wouldn't pay more than $750 for this laptop, but that is only because I am looking for a great deal. 800 or 900 would be a standard price, anything higher is a ripoff and you should be able to find a more loaded laptop or at least the same specs in a smaller package.

5 out of 5 eggsnice laptop

Pros: pretty darn quick machine. Does everythting I have asked of it and then a little. I dig it. The 1080P screen resolution is terrific. Does Microsoft Office Applications perfectly.

New Egg got this to me in 2 days, thanks guys,

Cons: Power supply is not the greatest. I haven't been able to make it last more than 2 hours. Don't expect a true desk top replacement due to poor battery life and slow GPU. It's a LAPTOP though.

Other Thoughts: I don't do any intense computing on this machine. I have a beast of a home PC. This is great for online applications and watching videos/audio (busininess travel) It rockets my my online business stuff. The price has gone up since I bought mine from $849 (?) Nice value. Nice laptop if you are looking for mid range.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome laptop

Pros: Fast speed, keyboard lights, honestly it has to many pros to name. I am sony Vaio person so this new laptop was right up my alley. It has a very VERY sleek design to it and a "sexy" appeal for a laptop.

Cons: It doesnt come with a keyboard skin, the disc tray ejects a little harsh, HUGE power block and of course like every computer it will come with a couple of unnecessary programs, but thats to be expected.

Other Thoughts: Its a clean computer with fast speed. I am currently running 5 programs at once and its not slowing down for me. I can not speak for you, but for busines purposes and personal use..I LOVE THIS.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a bargain

Pros: Sony quality

Cons: Heat, poor battery, slow

Other Thoughts: I own almost identical model purchased direct from Sony on a promotion, bought two because of the impressive specs. It WAS much better price than the similar hp machine I had configured at the same time. Hey - Core-i7 with DDR3 RAM, should be a smoking machine... I thought. While useable it is not exceptionally fast, and battery life is about an hour - max.
Note that there are larger batteries which protrude from the back of the laptop for extended runtime, but cost, size & weight convinced me to order the standard battery. If you want this laptop plan on a larger battery - and more than one.

5 out of 5 eggsHighly Recommend

Pros: Runs the best games including Diablo 3 and Crysis. The strong graphics card is set up well within the unit so it does not overheat. I would suggest getting an extra fan if you are going to play for long hours (naturally).

Cons: Interesting Screen

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overall a good laptop. The back lit keyboard is nice and screen looks amazing. I bought another 4GB RAM to throw in it and it's perfectly suitable for my daily work.

Cons: The speakers sound bad. The power brick looks like it's from the 1980's. The laptop is very thick so it doesn't fit in either of my laptop bags. I only get about 2.5 hours battery life, not the 4.5 stated by sony.

Other Thoughts: First thing I did was replace windows with Kubuntu 12.04 (beta til next week) and it runs like a champ. Everything works perfectly.

I could have got the next higher model for $120 cheaper than what I paid for this one but it didn't go on sale til after I bought this one. I hate when newegg does this.

2 out of 5 eggsplugged in only

Pros: Works as advertised-almost...beautiful his rez screen, solid and runs fairly cool for a laptop. But the battery power is another matter.

Cons: Battery is next to useless. After less than half hour with out the charger plugged in it defaults to less than 0.8ghz and disables turbo boost. Might as well be running a 5 year old laptop at that point it is so slow. Takes forever just to open an app and I run on a SSD!

Other Thoughts: I will probably keep it only because it's $700 less than a similarly configured Macbook. And since each new Apple OS release makes me fonder of Win 7, I'll just have to near an outlet.
