The Sony Vaio SVT13118FXS line of ultrabooks combines functionality and affordability. These notebooks feature tools and software for intuitive use. Instead of necessitating the manual navigation of programs, the webcam recognizes physical gestures, so you can complete functions ranging from skipping songs to opening new windows without even clicking the trackpad.
The screen boasts 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution. Vivid colors brighten the display so all content is immaculately clear. While wide viewing angles allow larger audiences to watch anything on the Sony ultrabooks, an HDMI port is also available, so the computers can be connected to projectors and TVs.
Clear Phase technology assists the speakers. The ultrabooks produce enough clear sound to fill many rooms without distorting audio files.
Jury still out
Pros: lightweight, speedy, handles many applications at once like a champ. I really like this laptop when it's working.
Cons: Battery life lower than marketed but still not too bad. System crashes randomly with "Operating System Not Found" message .. luckily it works after restarting a few times .. Sending back to Newegg for return (RMA) and hoping a new one will be better.
Other Thoughts: Didn't send in for the rebate so I lost out on that :( For now, giving 2 stars because of the inconvenience of sending it back. Without the intermittent crashing this would easily be a 4-5 star review. This could be a motherboard or hard drive problem (as in it may go away with another hard drive that's not solid state or with a motherboard bios update) but I shouldn't have to debug a brand new computer! Didn't find new drivers on the sony support site for the motherboard of this model (http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVT13118FXS). Will update this review when I get the RMA back from Newegg :/

Nice, fast little machine
Pros: This Sony with i7 processor coupled with SSD is super fast and very liable for the time I've owned it. I took it right after purchase on a trip to Europe and it performed admiringly in terms of processing power (Phase One Capture One sw), battery, Wifi, boot-up speed... The screen is very sharp and contrasty, nice color.
Cons: The only con for me maybe the screen, it's pretty reflective.

Pros: Design, speed, hardware, everything is top notch as expected of Sony.
Cons: Unfortunately. this system crashes about 6x a day making the computer inoperable. You can run a search for this model and error "operating system not found." There was a manufacturer's rebate requiring the UPC so Newegg will not accept return. Sony attempted to fix at the Sony store and unsuccessful. I just got swindled for over a grand.

Pros: sleek skinny design, super light weight (probably the lightest computer I've ever owned), fast boot up, sleep and shut down. this is one seriously pared down system so no extra ports or equipment you don't need.
Cons: lousy battery life. with a 100% charge and using 70% brightness on the screen, i got at most 3.5 hours usage. as well you need to turn the sleep port on to charge (and this was hard to figure out). gesture motion sucks bad, works maybe 1 time out of 10. annoying sony tools.

System crash all the time
Pros: Very light and fast
Cons: New hardware and system combination for SONY that system crash all the time.
Other Thoughts: Thought it might be defective and sent to Sony store for repair or hardware replacement. They will not replace anything for you even it's still in the warranty, and the only thing they can do is send back to repair center which I don't think they will be able to figure out what's going on since all harware tests went well.
