5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy

Pros: A few things first that aren't listed in the item details. The Graphics Card (7650M) is a 2GB Dedicated Card which is very nice. The keyboard is backlight and quite cool looking. The computer is very fast and responsive with the i7 Processor and is very smooth in operation of Windows. So far I have played Bioshock Infinite and a little Fallout New Vegas, both are very playable on high settings and look very nice. The display is sharp, viewing angles are very good, 4 people can easily sit around the laptop and have a clean viewing angle. Sound is sufficient and puts out good volume but sounds better when using headphones. Setup was quick and easy and the computer doesn't have a ton of annoying bloatware to remove. I had it unpacked and up and running in about 35 minutes. Case is sleek looking and fairly light for a 17" Model. It weighs about the same as my 16.4" Vaio that I got 4 years ago. It has a nice black finish that makes the laptop look like a high dollar model. Good fast CPU, good amount of RAM and a solid dedicated Graphics Card for Gaming. A pretty nice package overall.

Cons: Nothing is perfect, the touch pad takes some getting used to as it doesn't have a left and right button like I'm used to. Instead you click it on the left or right side to distinguish the click type. The pad itself also acts as a button and you can push down on the pad itself which is slightly odd. It doesn't come with any recovery media, you have to burn your own disks, not terrible but kind of silly that they couldn't throw in a couple recovery disks. There is no external button to disable WiFi or turn off the Keyboard Lighting, both have to be done through Windows. Sound is acceptable but not great through the speakers. It does however, sound very good when using headphones. None of these are big issues, just slight annoyances at most.

Other Thoughts: So far, I'm extremely happy with this model. I have been a fan of Vaio Laptops for a while and used them for years. The construction is solid, Windows and Gaming Performance is excellent for this price point, HD Screen is sharp and looks very nice. Blu-Ray player is a nice addition and the 500GB Hard Drive has plenty of space. Feature wise, this laptop is superior to any I have seen in this price range. You have to go over $1k with other manufacturers to match the features provided by this laptop. I use mine for watching TV/Movies and playing Games and this laptop does both very well. It's not going to play games on Ultra, but it will play them at Medium-High with solid frame rates. All with good portability and durable construction. I feel like I got the best possible value for the money with this laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsSONY VAIO E Series SVE1713DCXB Notebook

Pros: Great notebook in terms of functionality. Screen and keyboard are great. runs extremely fast. Over all great laptop.

Cons: Only one problem with the entire thing... When i started up the notebook, the fan located in the bottom left side had a loose screw or hinge so it made a noticeable rattling noise. Wasn't anyting major just needed to be fixed.

Other Thoughts: overall its a good notebook, just upset that it had that one fault.
