4 out of 5 eggsSlick Design

Pros: Slick, slim design, metal, fast CPU, small

Cons: gets hot 88c when 3d rendering, edge is very sharp on hands when typing (probably the biggest con), dual GPU is somewhat unclear to understand, still looking for more control of which GPU instead of automatic.

Other Thoughts: This is great little laptop for my needs, I was looking for something powerful and yet very portable. I do a lot 3d studio max and photoshop, but have powerful desktop at home, just needed something lightweight I can take to coffee shop or travel and still is powerful enough. This was the best choice, especially for $750 including 1 year newegg warranty was a great deal!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: - i7 in a laptop for less than $800
- Monitor gorgeous at 1600x1200. Matte finish prevents glare (but appears a little washed out compared to glossy screens).
- Elegant case design. Brushed aluminum top.
- Silent except when playing games, even then fans are quieter than most laptops
- Light enough (5ish pounds)
- Minimal bloatware

All around, a sexy laptop.

Cons: - Trackpad is far and away the worse part of this machine, and likely why it was refurbished. The trackpad is both over-sensitive and insensitive: moving the cursor is often registered as a left-click, but then "soft-clicking" (tapping the trackpad) is not always registered as a click. Um, yeah. Not a prob if you use an external mouse, but for casual browsing it's annoying. With a decent trackpad this laptop review would be 5 eggs.

- No recovery DVD or any other media is shipped with the laptop, which makes it challenging to replace the hard drive with an SSD hard drive. See below.

- Keyboard not backlit

- What the heck is up with the '80's racing tunnel opening graphic. That intern needs to be let go.

Other Thoughts: Replacing the hard drive (HD) with an SSD is not for the faint of heart: in part due to opening the case, but also bc no recovery/Win disc ships with the laptop. I successfully cloned the orig HD onto my Samsung 830 256GB SSD as follows:

- First, watch a video tutorial on how to open the case. Slowly separating the plastic bottom with your finger nails is tricky but required.
- Remove orig laptop HD
- Install both orig laptop HD and SSD in a desktop computer.
- On the desktop, download the free EASEUS Partition Manager to: a) format the SSD b) copy ALL 3 PARTITIONS from orig HD to SDD: 1) SYSTEM (~100 MB) 2) Primary partition with Windows (for me: Win7+Office+SC2 = 51 GB) 3) SAMSUNG_REC (~19 GB). Don't worry if your SSD has a smaller capacity than the HD, EASEUS will auto-handle it.
- You *must* make a Windows repair CD (or DVD). Type "repair disc" and follow the wizard.
- Install SSD in laptop
- Turn on laptop, insert repair disc, follow wizard to repair system, reboot.
- Do

5 out of 5 eggsExceptional computer at an excellent price.

Pros: Aluminum case, long battery life, low weight, scroll mousepad, number section on keyboard, RAM, hard drive size, 64bit operating system, dedicated graphics card, speaker location, integrated microphone and webcam

Cons: 512 MB graphics card, instead of 1GB graphics card, speakers not robust enough (loud but not rich)

Other Thoughts: Actually, the speakers are quite good for the PC. Overall, I think you cannot find a computer with such specs for this price. Don't be afraid of the refurbished status.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't order this laptop or anything on Newegg at all

Pros: Looked nice (while it lasted)

Cons: Sharp edge that everyone else is complaining about.
Stopped working after 4 months. Led lights show, but screen doesn't work.
Newegg and Samsung told me I'm out of luck

Other Thoughts: I'm a college student and I wasted $800 on a laptop that's broken. I've heard horror stories of people buying off Newegg but I bought it anyway. When I received the box it came with a 1 year limited warenty from samsung, but they refused to honor that as well becuase it was refurbished. Idk why they would put it in the box anyway. I highly recommend you don't order ANYTHING from this site. I can't believe Newegg and Samsung put a gaping hole in my wallet, and left me stranded. I can't afford $800 dollars worth of junk everyday.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was very happy with everything this laptop had to offer

Cons: Screen broke after 2 months

Other Thoughts: I'm a in college for graphic design and I need a laptop, so it really sucked when it broke. I would return it but it's not under warranty and I couldn't even afford to buy an extended warranty anyways.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Semi-lightweight, I7 processor (though low ghz), good webcam, fast startup, and long battery life.

Since I've not seen an answer for just how long the battery lasts, I'll put in my insight so far: at 100% battery it said 2 1/2 hours remaining, then i checked back after 10 minutes of usage and it said 3 1/2. After letting it go into standby and moving the cursor again it jumped to 6 1/2 hours. At 50% charge it said 3 1/2 hours, so basically it just depends on what you're using it for. On average for low processing and memory usage it looks like it probably can get anywhere from 6 - 8 hours easy, while gaming probably about 3ish. *I have no used it for gaming yet.

Cons: Everyone has been whining about the sharp edge, personally, if you have skin you should be okay no problem.

Bloatware, but easy to get rid of. Either jsut go through and uninstall and delete it all or do a clean reset with windows 7.

The touchpad is very sensitive, if the finger lifts slighty it might take it as a left click and you may end up having to backspace on websites and such. Also if you keep A wireless (or wired) mouse is a cheap and better alternative.

Other Thoughts: If you're wondering if the refurbished tag will have an impact, feel relieved in knowing I have had no problems so far with the laptop and everything runs well (doing everything other than gaming so far ie: internet, microsoft word, skype, streaming vids).

In conclusion: best laptop I've owned so far, and at darn-near half-off It's a no brainer if you're looking for a powerful, cheap laptop with long battery lfie for college or your home.

*If anything happens (ie: bad ram, overheating) when i start playing some starcraft 2, d3, and something heavy like crysis on it, I will review again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer so far

Pros: Nice screen. Performs well. Nice full keyboard. Well Built.

Cons: The touchpad can be a little finicky, but after playing with the settings I have it working good enough now

Other Thoughts: I've only owned the computer for a few days, but I would definitely recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh-Quality Bargain.

Pros: 1. Style: Very sleek and elegant
2. Build: Very high build quality
2. Hardware: Excellent specs
3. Bloatware: Only about 8 programs and all uninstallable
4. Upgradeable to SSD, with effort
5. USB 3.0 x2

6. With oem drive, boot time until hourglass disappears is 52s. After upgrading to Samsung 256GB 830, desktop appears at 14s and no cpu activity by 20s.

Cons: 1. Matte screen looks washed-out. Needs glossy screen.
2. Difficult to upgrade to SSD--must remove entire back cover, which I did this morning. Note: after cloning with desktop, enable ahci & trim and disable defrag.
3. Keyboard not back-lit
4. Top-edge is not overly sharp.
5. Win7 Home Premium

Other Thoughts: A steal at under $1100 for a high-quality, i7 laptop with hi-res screen and 256GB SSD. Similar hardware in MacBook Pro would run about $2673 w/tax!!

Don't need blu-ray.

Looked brand new coming out of box.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Laptop I ever own

Pros: Stunning , visual appeal just like a mac book pro, but without the prices.

Powerful - with 8 threads ( 4 cores with hyper threading)

boots/wake fast like SSD!

Cons: Cons? this word does not compute.

Other Thoughts: for the ones complaining about the " sharp edges", wow its slightly uncomfortable if you are a power puff girl

4 out of 5 eggsPrevious reviews pretty accurate

Pros: battery life is great
very quiet
look is good
not all that much bloat ware

Cons: edge mentioned by one reviewer is noticeable. I put a thin piece of tape over it and it is not a problem. If it were full price I'd look elsewhere but on sale this is a great rig.
