5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product

Pros: The speed is noticeably greater than most notebooks/netbooks of this size. The i3 along side the Intel 3000 hd card work better than I thought it would.

Why did I buy this laptop?
1) I wanted to replace my Acer Atom-based netbook. The processing speeds for this Samsung notebook have been extremely nice.

2) I needed it for school work apart from home. Taking notes on a netbook turned into a necessity during my first 2 years of college.

3) I wanted to play games socially. I enjoy playing games with friends in a social aspect (LAN Parties), and my gaming rig made it really hard to arrange such events. With this notebook, am now able to quickly run most modern games on medium settings. I was really surprised to see this computer run League of Legends and Dota 2 as well as it did (read 'Other thoughts' for details).

At $380 dollars, this was a steal (original being $700)

Cons: None so far. Perhaps the battery will die quicker due to its powerful cpu/gpu usage. To be honest, I really don't care to much for the battery.

Other Thoughts: Businessmen:
This device may be an overkill on the tools you'll be needing, but if you've every used an Atom CPU netbook before and hated it, this is the product for you. The screen size is perfect and the power is nice.

For you college/highschool kids:
Trying to find a cheap powerful notebook? Look no further...seriously. I spent many days comparing prices, and found nothing. Any device that included an i3 processor instantly reached the 800-1,000 dollar range.

For gamers:
I built my first rig about 3 years ago, and felt like I would never come back to the laptop scene again. After a while, I began to miss the days of being able to easily game at a friends house. I tested a few games and here are the results on the fps capabilities:

League of Legends: 60fps with shadows off and high textures.

Dota 2/Left4Dead2: 35-45fps low settins

Minecraft (v1.3.1): 15-40...I blame the new patch

Garrysmod: 60-90 fps.

That's all folks, I hope this was helpful towards your inv

5 out of 5 eggsCustomer Favorite with SSD

Pros: read prior review, great little laptop

Works great with the ocz vertex 3 7mm ssd. Sold 4 to customers, some of whom were concerned about the size, but all ended up raving about it.

The anti glare screen and resolution is great, and with an ssd and an i3, it flies at most operations. Not for video editing or gaming, but more of a highend everyday computer. Faster than most people have experienced with this combo.

The i3, underclocked as it is, performs great and better than expected.

Took a clean install well, and all the original software and drivers are on the samsung website.

Very Light, extremely portable.

Cons: 1 of them came without the ac cable half of the power adapter. The brick part (important part) was still there.

1 was missing a few rubber grommets.

The missing grommets are more upsetting than the ac adapter, as I sold one without grommets. The ac cable is a common one and easily replaceable. Neither are a dealbreaker or worth docking an egg.

Other Thoughts: just remember to upgrade with a 7mm drive.

Had problems with the drives freezing until I completed all ssd and pc firmware and bios updates. After that all intermittent freezing problems were resolved.

1 stick of ram. no need to upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsSSD Upgrade Guide

Pros: Great little I3 and HD graphics with a 1366x768 antiglare screen. Great viewing angles. Am totally glad Samsung chose to use a quality screen.

for laptop mice, i was happy with this one.

Minimal bloatware, but i plan to full reinstall anyways.

The price of 380 refurbished is awesome.

Cons: none so far except i went in with lack of info, uses a 7mm hard drive, read other

Other Thoughts: I ordered 3 of these for a customer, with intentions to upgrade with OCZ solid 3 ssd. But found they used a 7mm hdd and have had to order the 7mm ocz vertex 3 instead.

To access the hard drive is simple. remove all screws and ram from bottom of computer, (all but 1 screw are identical) remove the two additional screws under rubber grommets with the arrows pointing at them.
leave the laptop, bottomside up and use a slim flathead and work your way around, ending with the vga side last, so you can pop the plastic over the vga connector, and then your done, the bottom comes right off. they use a rubber silicon like slide on case which is toolless and favorite of all i have encountered so far, but i immediately noticed there was a 7mm hdd stuffed in it.

Im sure its in the manual, but who reads that first?

I will post another review soon with the results.

I also noticed that it uses the intel centrino wireless n 130 and will also post results with it having the intel 6230 wi

4 out of 5 eggsNice step up from a netbook

Pros: About the same size as a netbook. Actually a little thinner than most.

Much faster than a netbook. Has no problem running Office, email, surfing or watching movies.

Standard (1366x768) resolution on an 11.2" screen.

Screen is better than most at this price point. Matte finish is a nice touch.

Texture on the touch pad is just right.

Metal (ok it is supposed to be aluminum but really as thin as it is might as well be plastic) finish on the outter cover is an improvement over shinny plastic.

Cons: Screen flex. No really, this one bends quite a bit.

Has a metal look, but once you put it in your hands, the plastic is unmistakable. Definately has a cheap feal.

I know this is minor, many people wont care. It has a rocker switch on the touch pad, not individual buttons. I can get over it.

Other Thoughts: Few nice things not in the description - USB port powered when computer is off (can be disabled), both HDMI and HD15 connectors. Yes many computers have these features, but it isn't listed in the description, thought I'd point it out.

Samsung control panel is actualy usefull.

Battery life is not exceptional. About 4hrs actual, you can kill it faster if you try.

If you are looking for a netbook size computer that is actually capable of most tasks (wouldn't try to run whatever the current game of choice is on it) and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsRefurbished np300u1a

Pros: Its tiny, fast, nice keyboard, same color as shown in picture.

Cons: too soon for cons

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to let people know that I received this REFURBISHED 11.6" laptop in a samsung packaged refurb box. Not a single scratch on it! That was my main concern, not a single scratch...It came with ac, cord, battery, but no cds or windows cd. Which is fine with me, I guess I can always download it from a torrent site and use the the key# to the windows 7 home premium which is located at the bottom of the laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little machine

Pros: Very nice little laptop. Plenty of speed and power for basic tasks. Very compact and lightweight. Runs pretty cool. Battery life is better than I expected. Refurb price is awesome!

Cons: If you can't handle a small screen and small keyboard, don't get it.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if they had thrown in a dedicated graphics card. Last generation would keep costs down. But that would have increased the price too much.

5 out of 5 eggsnetbook done the right way

Pros: small/portable, priced comparably to netbooks (but performs better), decent selection of ports, decent screen (non glare type, tn - as expected, resolution ok for 11.6")

Cons: 5400rpm drive (no easy access - upgrade-wise)
refurbished = bare bones, mine came without the AC cable (luckily the PSU was in the box), battery life sacrificed for portability, Ethernet port seems flimsy (collapsible), some junkware loaded (as expected but hard to disable startup without completely uninstalling some of these utilities (not UAC friendly either)).

Other Thoughts: Purchased it to replaced aged/broken Asus netbook. I did not want another Atom system as the performance of these cpu stagnated (and windows needed more today). Was considering a e450 system but the price was bit too high (especially for a gift). At this price level it's absolutely a steal - great notebook for all basic computing needs, gaming is better on desktop pc anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Light, fast, Windows 7, 4 GB DDR3 ram. Very screen. 3D rating came in at 6 on the Windows Experience rating test.

Cons: At $399, I can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: I have many computers and am a computer expert - I run a network for a large lab. This is one great little laptop. Very nice - looks and acts like it is brand new. Limited bloat wear too. Nice...
