5 out of 5 eggsThe Laptop of the new era!

Pros: - No Virus
- No Backup needed
- No Update needed (OS and Apps updates seamlessly)
- Install/Removing of Apps fast and effective
- Boots/goes off in seconds
- Great keyboard
- Good screen
- Handy function keys
- Improve himself with the time
- Nice design
- Strong frame
- Big mouse pad
- Noiseless
- Fast
- Long battery usage
- Real and good working multi-user experience (no personal data accessible by others)
- Partially Open Source Software
- Affordable and open to everyone
- Most apps/extentions are free
- Updates are free, FOREVER
- Easy to use
- it's not a MS or Apple product

Cons: - No bluetooth
- Graphics apps need still to improve
- If you open more than 10 tabs + you have more than 10 extensions running it may be not so fast
- Compatibility of files (documents) and programs
- Not much "offline working" apps
- We still have to wait little time in order to get the Chromebook becoming more powerful then MS/Apple branded PC's, but if we all support Google the change will come!

Other Thoughts: Since past summer I have this Chromebook and I am really happy with it, I will stick to the Chromebook Philosophy and other Google software because they really innovate and improve the way we use computers.

If I just use a Windows running computer now, after I got used with my Chromebook, I get so nervous because of all obsolete things running on there.

The Chromebook is a revolution in the IT world, people who dislike it are primitives or masochists.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Choice!

Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, battery really does last at least 5 hours of use), great for school. The speakers have really good quality and the computer itself turns on in a couple seconds

Cons: Some Windows things do not work with google's OS, which is understandable. I wouldn't use it for anything that requires a good graphics card or processor. For the price, everything works better than expected.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing 2nd computer

Pros: Instant login, Periodic updates/improvements by Google, Solid/quality hardware

Cons: Can't calibrate display color/temperature (Important probably only for photographers/designers) - the monitor's way too blue/cool factory default.

1 out of 5 eggsinternet monster

Pros: Very pretty

Cons: No internal storage. Will not open documents. Does not recognize blu-ray or dvd read or burn. Does not recognize 34/54 ExpressCard. When hooked to Windows external hard drive, will not open files or run. Every move is online, with no personal storage. K estimate that we will be paying USD 1000.00 a month to thd internef provider for data usage if ee are forced to obey these creeps.

5 out of 5 eggsFast & Great Laptop

Pros: I have had my Chromebook 550 for about a week now and I absolutely love it. Some of the pros are. Really fast boot up. Super fast browsing even with 4-8 windows open. I tend to multi-task a lot. There are so many apps on the Chromebook web store that you will find an app for whatever you need.

Cons: There are no cons for me. I knew this laptop is only a browser and that's all I needed it for. Plus I do a little blogging and read documents.

Other Thoughts: This is a great Laptop for someone who does everything on the internet. It is super fast and you never have to worry about updating it or worrying about a virus because it has built in protection.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect on the couch

Pros: Hardware
- Screen can dim all the way OFF
- Light weight but very solid feel
- Great speakers!
- Developer mode via hidden switch in kingston lock socket
- Somewhat comfortable keyboard layout.
- Power brick is cute
- No annoying activity lights. Only three light sources: power led, charge led, and screen.
- Internal SSD: fast and robust

Software
- Great second/guest computer
- Fast power on
- Heavily integrated into the cloud
- Has RJ45 port
- Good experience with purchasing media from Google Play.
- Robust recovery system if OS corrupts. Fast and almost seamless updates.

Cons: Hardware
- Cannot easily access battery for replacement
- Cannot easily access SSD for upgrade
- No DEL key
- Space bar is stickier than other keys.

Software
- Context menu requires two finger press to activate. Can be annoying sometimes.
- Heavily integrated into the cloud.

Other Thoughts: Price is unjustified as the product does not have an optical drive, only 16GB of storage, and no other accessories (but what else do you really need on a laptop)

The out-of-the-box Chrome OS experience has been great. (Chrome OS differs from Chromium in that Chrome OS has Flash built in)

Since I am accustomed to Windows and Linux, even though I don't use advanced features on my secondary/entertainment system, not having the power or abilities makes my fingers itch.

4 out of 5 eggsSamsung 5 550 wifi

Pros: Lightweight
Looks good/well built
nice keyboard
No updates needed
Boots quick/ instantly wakes from sleep
Good battery life (watch screen brightness though)
Google Drive / Google Docs / Remote Desktop are all you need to make this little machine worth its weight in gold.
I was skeptical of the Apps, but i have grown to like them and do not mind using the docs...see other thoughts about this.

Cons: As others have noted, there does appear to be some issue with the DNS. This results in webpages not loading from time to time, however it is not enough for me to warrant a return. I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or software, but it is intermittent and not that big of a deal for me.

Other Thoughts: FYI I have had this for about 3 weeks at the time of this review.

Chrome OS in general is pretty good but limited - it is not for everyone. I use this as a grad student for reading lots of pdfs, typing papers and general web related stuff, so it fits my bill fine. For any specialty programs, you have the option to remote desktop to your Windows PC.

the Chrome App store has a descent amount of apps so you may want to check that out before purchasing.

Nexus office is available for those people that need more functionality in an office suite. Nexus is just a web based port of MS office 2010, and it works great although you will end up paying for it after a 60 day trial.

I would recommend one of these to somebody that has limited needs (office docs, web surfing, etc.) with portability. i throw this thing in my bag i can hardly tell it there. Great laptop

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I wanted/needed

Pros: Fast.
Light.
Good Battery Life.

Cons: HD space is very limited but I knew that buying it...

Other Thoughts: If you can get access to the internet just about anywhere you will go this is a great item to get...With all the space you can get through Google Drive and their other storage(Google Music with 20,000 song limit) the limited HD really isn't a problem...I was looking for laptop to use for Internet mainly and maybe some Doc. work and this has be great...So good that I am no longer have a need for my tablet

5 out of 5 eggssurprising

Pros: It just feels and looks... NICE. Nothing shows smudges or fingerprints. Starts up and shuts down incredibly fast. Chrome OS updated itself when I turned it on, I didn't even have to click anything. It is surprising how easy it is to use if you're used to chrome.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: the keyboard is excellent, and is also simplified-- no "caps lock" or "scroll lock" or "num lock", no FN keys. Just nice big, spaced keys.
