1 out of 5 eggsWaste of Money

Pros: Light

Cons: No touch screen
really Slow,
horrible horrible touch pad.
bad resolution
poor hardware design
low quality screen

Other Thoughts: I bought this for work, for a I7 with 8 GB of ram this machine is really slow and has poor performance. this has the worst performance for the money and worst feature for Money. I am running to a lot of issues with the touch screen and compare to a Lenovo screen quality is poor. what a wast of money

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent 15" ultrabook

Pros: Very lightweight for a 15" screen. 1600x900 resolution is the right pitch for this size screen to make text legible. Excellent battery life, 6+ hours of heavy use. Screen is very bright. Blazingly fast with the built-in SSD and core-i7. Thin, thin, thin. Ethernet dongle included. USB 3.0 and built-in SDHC reader--excellent!

Cons: The display is slightly disappointing by Samsung standards. Although it is phenomenally bright, it does suffer from a fairly limited viewing angle compared to high-end LCD monitors. Tiin construction requires dongle for wired network of video output. Video dongle is not included. Of course it costs to buy lightweight and fast. Not inexpensive

Other Thoughts: Get the 256 Gb SSD. 128 Gb is very limiting for power users with lots of applications and documents/files.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Lightweight for a 15" ultrabook. Screen resolution (1600x900) is high enough to take advantage of a 15" display, but not so high as to result in unreadable text. Boot time or wakeup from sleep is amazingly fast. Battery life is very good 6-8 hours of real-time use. Wireless-N is really fast.

Cons: The display does not have a wide viewing angle, but it is very crisp. Wireless radio has problems waking up on restart or booting after shutdown. I had to toggle it off and back on manually. The problem is the power-saving feature that is enabled by default. Disabling low-power radio operation caused this issue to disappear. (Why would you really want to run under low power wireless radio operation anyway? It's not worth the aggravation.)

Other Thoughts: Get the 256 Gb model. 128 Gb is too small if you have a lot of installed software. I found that the OS and installed programsfor me take up about 75 Gb, along with the recovery partition. Documents and files take up another 25 Gbyte, leaving a 256 Gb drive half full (204 Gbyte of usable space). Turn off the low power option on the wireless radio. Win7 model is more expensive(!) than Win8 model. I guess that's because I can open two windows at once on the desktop to be more productive. (Listening, Microsoft?)

1 out of 5 eggsBricked six months later.

Pros: Very thin, nice specs. Light

Cons: Died within six months. Bought in October, in March it wouldn't power up, or turn on, or anything. Also the keyboard is uncomfortable, often won't register keystrokes unless you really hit the keys hard.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Too much to list

Cons: Expensive, but I don't regret going out of my price range to get it.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT spend the money

Pros: Boots quickly from sleep, light, thin, nice keyboard.

Cons: Overrated screen (it is terribly washed out at almost all angles), i5 not taken advantage of, CRAPWARE, second computer and the trackpad has stopped working again.

Other Thoughts: I owned this computer for two weeks before the trackpad began acting up. It would stop working for minutes at a time and this progressed quickly to total loss of the trackpad. I tried everything I could think of as well as the samsung support, to no avail. The trackpad become useless and Newegg replaced the item after a lot of hassle.

-Second computer: I have had this one for about 3 months with no issues in the trackpad. Today was the day I guess. The trackpad has again stopped working, rendering the computer COMPLETELY useless without an external mouse. I have tried all of the trouble shooting and I am sure I will be getting another one from samsung after two more weeks of haggling and it will probably happen again. It is a known issue now.

-don't waste your money. For the same price, buy a better computer for a lot less money.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth it

Pros: With the super fast SSD within, you can see the full potential of the rest of the components that a conventional HDD would bottleneck. I don't mean to sound like a commercial using words like mind blowing fast but that's just how fast it is, especially if you're upgrading from an older laptop that used a platter hard drive. During light use such as web browsing or listening to music, the laptop is completely silent and cool to the touch. During heavier loads such as video conferencing (Skype) or multitasking, the unit becomes warmer and the exhaust fans kick in. Samsung does have an utility called Easy Settings where you could turn on silent mode which reduces fan noise.

Cons: A few minor issues:
The USB 2.0 port is too close the the DC-in port which might get in the way of pen drives, but I guess you could always unplug the DC plug or use the USB 3.0 ports.
The touchpad is quite big and sensitive (excuse me if that sounded wrong) that sometimes while typing, the base of my thumb touches the pad and it clicks somewhere else and half of what I typed ends up in the middle of somewhere else.

Other Thoughts: Samsung really emphasized on the boot speed. There is an option in the BIOS which speeds up the POST routine. And there are options in Easy Settings where you could switch off the Windows logo animation during boot up. A cold boot takes only around 10 seconds. Overall this laptop is amazingly fast, with 8 GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores. It's a big difference when it comes to multitasking compared to my older laptop. And kudos to Newegg for such fast shipping!

4 out of 5 eggsNearly perfect, but should be perfect.

Pros: Gorgeous wide matte screen. Simple understated elegance. Very comfortable keyboard. Good positioning of touchpad. Almost no bloatware, almost perfect directly out of the box. Incredibly fast, makes a great workhorse. 3lbs is heavy for an ultrabook but doesn't feel heavy. Great screen real-estate, perfect for getting work done.

Did I mention it's absolutely beautiful?

Cons: At nearly $2000, this needs to be a perfect laptop, and it almost is.

Out of the box one of the keys stuck in the down position. It wasn't triggering input, but was annoying and caused the key to be hypersensitive. This problem worked itself out through some light use, after a half hour the stickiness of the key was barely noticeable, after an hour it wasn't noticeable at all.

The one real problem with this laptop is the power adapter is barely held in. Sitting with the laptop on my lap (go figure!) and typing causes the plug to fall out at least once every 2-3 minutes. It's pretty irritating, especially at this price point. Thankfully this is mitigated by a battery life around 7 hours with decent use.

Another minor detail, there is no external indicator that the laptop is charging. The light for that is present above the keyboard. It's a little thing but it means I have to open the laptop up to make sure the plug hasn't fallen out while it's charging.

5 out of 5 eggsLightweight and runs Photoshop + Lightroom Perfect

Pros: Lightweight with a great screen, and good color representation. HDMI out is very nice for show casing photos on a HDTV or a large monitor for clients. Boots fast. Runs fast. Great keyboard layout. Feels sturdy for such a slim design. Runs cool and very quiet.

Cons: No Cons.

Other Thoughts: This is my mobile Lightroom + Photoshop computer. I teamed this ultrabook up with a 1TB Toshiba Canvio (USB 3.0 - fast & runs cool) external HD to store my Lightroom Catalog on. I can move my Lightroom catalog from this laptop to my tower quickly (the tower does all the backups).

You will also need an external DVD drive if you are going to install software from a disc.

5 out of 5 eggssleek power

Pros: fast processor, fast and spacious SSD, crisp large screen, lightweight for its size, sleek design

Cons: expansive, VGA, HDMI, etc. connectors have to be purchased separately, a hidden 8Gb hibernation partition

Other Thoughts: This is serious high end product. If you are looking for an elegant, lightweight design, a lot of power, and do not mind paying twice the price of a regular laptop this is a great buy. Screen is crisp and bright, Ivy Bridge processor delivers serious computational power even compared to high-end desktop CPUs, and the SSD is fast (a cold boot into Win7 takes around 9 sec and into Ubuntu around 5sec).

Trackpad is spacious and very sensitive. It does take some time to get used to it but it is far from being unusable as some reviews claimed.

Installing Ubuntu was completely straightforward once I realized that "Fast BIOS" options had to be disabled in the BIOS in order for the older USB 2.0 flash keys to be recognized at boot. Ubuntu 12.10 recognized most of the function key except for the keyboard back light - a highly regarded feature I personally have very little use for.
