2 out of 5 eggsA mediocre computer

Pros: Looks nice, small footprint, fast SSD. Pretty fast CPU as well. Battery life is OK.

Cons: Wi-fi problems with Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235 are terrible - it is hardly able to be constantly connected for 5-10 minutes. Intel drivers were updated, but without making any difference.
Another problem which started being visible after several months of use is noise. This is because of overheating. Yes, I tried to bust the ventilation holes on back, but didn't get rid of the problem completely.

Other Thoughts: The computer is above many other models on the market, but it is still quite overpriced. Samsung engineers tried their best to make it look good. They did. But they should have chosen a different wi-fi/bluetooth adapter.. Overheating is also a visible problem.

2 out of 5 eggsSAMSUNG Series 9 NP900X4C-A07US 15" Ultrabook

Pros: Everything else is pretty good I have to admit but how many times the wifi drop in a day is totally not worth the money. I would only recommend it if Samsung would resolve the wifi issue but from what I been reading online is that they wont even admit that there's a problem. I read comments before I bought it and saw that people were having issues with wifi but I still went with it thinking it shouldn't be that bad now I regret it. I know this should be the Pros section but I just couldn't help it the wifi sucks, it drives me crazy. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Cons: One thing that is horrible about this Samsung is the Intel Centrino wireless card. The wifi drops all the time, I have 2 other laptops that I never have internet issues but the Samsung will constantly drop connection, cant ping the gateway or anything. It's so bad that I'm looking into returning it.

1 out of 5 eggsSamsung Laptops & Customer Service

Pros: I owned a good functioning Samsung laptop for one year and eleven months.

Cons: The motherboard fried, and Samsung led me through a labyrinth of customer service reps and "call you back" promises only to tell me that unfortunately they cannot help me. Don't buy a Samsung computer.

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung Series 9 Champ

Pros: Battery Life

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a THIN, FAST and LIGHT ultrabook with very few compromises. I honestly don't think anyone over the age of 25 wants a 15" screen with any higher resolution. Text would just get too small. The SSD is fast and unobtrusive - no special settings to mess with. The i7 processor is fast and 8GB of RAM feels like plenty. Plus it is just beautiful and SO EASY to throw in a bag. I take mine home on weekends and don't even bother to bring the power brick (which is small and unobtrusive!) - it just lasts all weekend.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on Samsung Response

Pros: Thin, looks nice

Cons: Samsung says they are unaware of WiFi issues. They ought to try a simple search, for example: Re: Samsung Series 9 11" Wifi Problems
Sorry, this is going to be repetition for a lot of forum users.

I assume that you are in the USA. Samsung is not selling the WiFi fixed models in the USA yet -- these have the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 antenna) with the 3rd antenna going up inside an updated LCD. Samsung USA will not officially admit the problem yet; some technicians know about it but there's nothing that they can do or say about it yet.

Series 9 models with this WiFi and new LCD are available is some Asian and European countries.

I'm not going to get into why you think your 13.3" model WiFi is fine. There are many posts where people have claimed that (initially).

Other Thoughts: I sent laptop back. Newegg response was they did "12 hour burn-in" and could not replicate the issue which they diagnosed as a virus or a corrupted driver. Not a virus since I never had connectivity. Not sure what Newegg wants me to do about a corrupted driver if I have no connectivity. They are sending the unit back to me with a factory reset as their solution. So wanna guess how happy I am? To be fair, this is the only problem I have ever had with Newegg. It is not the only problem I have ever had with Samsung and their " we got no problems" attitude. The computer is registered, so, Samsung, you have my number if you need help finding information about WiFi issues in your Series 9.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: WiFi slow and totally unreliable. Samsung support cannot fix, and Newegg will not refund. For $1600 you can do better and save yourself the frustration.

Other Thoughts: This has been a very poor experience with both Samsung and Newegg

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsBest in class

Pros: Fast boot - SSD
Brite Screen
Lite weight
Wafer thin
Great Battery life

Cons: Windows 8 Home
Not Windows 7
Bloatware - Trialware (a bad thing on 256GB SSD)
Touchpad - Ok, not perfect response

Other Thoughts: So far, so good. This is exactly what I was looking for in a fast, lite, 15 inch ultrabook. Really nice solid feel. I could have done without the bloatware and Windows 8 but this was fixed with some patient program removal and buying stardock start8 ($5). Samsung does include Quick Starter (a desktop start button) but it doesn't allow you to bypass "grid lock" like start8. If you're looking for Fast, Lite, Bright, you will be hard pressed to find better that's not a Mac.

5 out of 5 eggsbeast!

Pros: this thing is incredibly fast and smooth. boots to desktop in under 10 seconds. comes out of sleep in probably 1 second. I usually hate these touch pads but this one is enjoyable to use.

Cons: Windows 8 is garbage. I formatted the SSD and was able to install Ubuntu without any issues.

Other Thoughts: a little heavier than I expected
