Samsung ATIV Smart PC XE500T1C-A04US 11.6-inch Windows 8 Tablet – 64GB

Pros: Very useful tablet for win 8. The atom processor responses surprising well compared to my earlier net book experiences. This device has replaced my iPad for several reasons:
1. Print from device through USB, not every printer is networked.
2. Drop into windows environment without hassle.
3. Runs windows programs well
4. Office 2013
5. Plays any type of media
6. Bit locker encryption (must upgrade to win 8 pro)
7. Windows media center
8. Samsung start up manager. Keeps the new junk out.
9. Good battery life over 6 hrs for me.

Cons: Overpriced
Cheap build quality feeling
Too big, needs 2" cut in length
Too much junk ware and inability to remove from update program
Keyboard dock sucks

Other Thoughts: The platform for this atom processor z2760 is pretty good. I suspect that there is minimal difference between different tablets based on the atom platform for windows 8
Much more useful than win rt (this is an rt killer).
If a tablet of comparable surface tablet quality existed that was based on the atom z2760, RT would be doomed.

Pros: Good Product for the money. However, I would never pay the going retail price for the device.

Cons: Totally inadequate tech support. People are very polite and want to help; but don't seem to know their own product. Had a major problem which turned out to be all the "Bloatware" installed, especially Norton product. I can't beleeve that anyone pays real money for such lousy software. Web page borders on useless, as far as product problem solving is concerned.

Other Thoughts: I solved all my problems by uninstalling all pre-installed apps and reinstalling just Windows 8. (Learned how to do this from a windows 8 forum). Reinstalled only the apps I wanted from the MS store and the system has been running great.

Pros: This thing is a dream come true. I was totally against Windows 8 but now I admit I was wrong. This thing is so powerful and so useful that I can't do it justice. The key to it is the stylus. You can literally create anything you want with this machine. The battery lasts all day and it has made a huge difference for me at work. I can basically walk around with all the same information (if not more) than I had at my desk. Being able to write on Office documents with a pen changes the whole game.

Everyone who sees it is blown away and wants one.

Cons: I often have a hard time getting the stylus out of the tablet because I have short fingernails. Same for the port covers.

Other Thoughts: Seriously for the price you wont find a better value at this time. The size of the tablet and the quality of the stylus input makes it hard to match the features of this device as well. Five stars, one of the best purchases I have ever made. I mean that.

Pros: I like the hardware, experience of tablet , convenience and functionality.

Cons: But it is unstable in the sense the drivers get messed up often, either the device freezes or hangs. sometimes the sound drivers are lost, other times wifi drivers are lost, graphic drivers etc. I want to believe there is a Windows 8 issue with this.

Other Thoughts: samsung has sw update for driver update. working with samsung, but I am not sure if this issue will be easily resolved, may be it takes a few months for the system, drivers to get stable.

Pros: Large screen, Windows 8, Ultra sensitive screen, stylus, bright screen,

Cons: Terrible driver choice from Samsung.

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, I love this tablet. Performance is way better than I expexted, especially that it's using the Intel Atom processor. The stylus turns out very useful with its 'hover to select' option and pressure sensitivity. The tablet is very large though, so i would recommend purchasing either the keyboard dock set or microsoft wedge bluetooth keyboard. It's simply uncomfortable to type on this oversized device, but watching movies is simply a joy. The biggest problem with this device I found is a poor driver support. Samsung's site only offers a downloadable manual and the 'SW' update program which carries its well known WIFI bug. If you do purchase the device i would highly suggest to stay away from the wifi updates that SW provides. If you find your self caught in the bug, refresh your pc without affecting personal files. I give this tablet 5/5, however Samsung gets 2/5. They really need to get their PC category together.

Pros: Bright screen, very smooth running after all the updates are installed. Best part, its not running a phone operating system. Both the touch screen and the stylest work wonderful.

Cons: Power connector is old school laptop pin connector that can break in the plastic assembly. This was a poor choice as the divice is highly portable a magnetic connector or a break away one is better suited for a tablet. The on screen keyboard

Pros: Bright Display, processor faster than expected, responsive stylus, battery life.

Cons: awkward size

Other Thoughts: I ordered this tablet strictly for school. I expected to perform somewhat slow. Intel processor in this unit definately exceeded my expectations. I have an ability to run Adobe Photoshop CS6 without any problems! the stylus is somewhat responsive especially using S Note app on the device. the only problem i encountered is its awkward size. in its standard view the tablet is very uncomfortable to type, and portrait mode feels too tall. I'd recommend using the tablet either on your lap or directly on table or better yet, purchase a stand or Microsofts wedge keyboard.

Pros: I bought mine at a local BB and was ready to hang up my iPad4, however, the touch screen does not respond well to your finger when attempting to move the windows, the keyboard does not come up automatically in desktop mode, the OS is not really designed to run on a tablet but meant to run on a laptop with a touch screen, and lastly the screen giant but the on screen keyboard is so big it negates the extra screen space. I really like the potential of this tablet design and the Spen is great but Windows 8 is not designed right for at true tablet without a keyboard. Back to my iPad I go, and I have never been a Apple fanboy, but but Windows 8 needs to be redone.

Cons: Very awkward to use without a keyboard.

Pros: Light, solid build, bright screen, good speakers, wacom stylus, bristling with ports, batterly life, plays any media file since you can run reliable free PC media players, can power an external 2 tb hard drive.

Cons: Light bleed on scren, Dock connector connection is inconsistent, non USB based charging cable (uses Netbook style power brick).

Other Thoughts: I will pen this review from the standpoint of an IPAD, android and touchpad owner who loved the great screens, long battery life and portability. The biggst shortfall on those devices was the lack of standard real world computer ports such as usb and hdmi. While the Android devices supported these standards (with varying degrees of support) Apple with it's arrogance locks you into it's expen$ive ecosystem. If you want drag and drop media portability and the use of hard drives and usb thumb drives this Samsung device or the more expsnsive 700 is the tablet to get. The caveats here are the use of the Atom CPU. This is not the ATOM cpu of the Netbook era, but a chipset that gets you faster netbook speed and graphically on part with a tegra 2 or 3. So it will do IPAD/ Android games well. It will not run cutting edge DESKTOP PC games. Pros: Solid build quality. Beautiful screen, despite the relatively low resolution.

Raised Windows button is a nice subtle touch and it helps to avoid accidentally button presses.

Samsung's included driver update software is actually very useful.

Nice selection of ports, especially the full-sized USB port (which gives you a lot of choices in accessories).

Samsung offers a fair selection of accessories.

The hardware is good enough to give you a smooth experience in the new interface.

Windows 8 is fun and easy to use once I figured out the new swipe functionality.

The app store has all the apps I need for what I do (reading, movies, TV, music, gaming, web browsing, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit). I like having access to standard x86 software as well, like Office, Photoshop and the desktop version of Zinio.

Some games do run well on this, such as Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate and Katawa Shoujo.

Boots way faster than my old Motorola Xoom tablet.

Cons: Almost too big for a tablet.

Accessories tend to be expensive, especially the Samsung keyboard dock.

Some features of Windows 8 are not intuitive. I had to look up how to do a few basic things.

Things are buggy out of the box. Some bloatware needs to be cleaned out.

The Windows desktop is sluggish at times. Using the desktop with just the touch screen is awkward at times.

I found the included stylus awkward to use.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you run Windows Update and Samsung's driver update software as soon as you get this tablet online. It'll take a few restarts to get them all but it's worth the time.

If you plan to spend the vast majority of your time in Modern UI apps, this is a great tablet. If you plan to spend a lot of time on the desktop, spend the extra money on a tablet with a faster CPU and more memory.
