4 out of 5 eggsNice laptop

Pros: Thin, nice battery life, upgradeable memory (upgraded to 16gb as soon as I received it)
Bootup is fast, about 9 seconds I think and is ready to go. Sleek and I get compliments everytime...

Cons: Sometime it crashes, hasnt happened often, but after it hibernates/sleeps ~ its done it a few times. I'd say 1 out of 25 times.

Also, unlike an Asus I bought a month prior, I have to keep reconnecting to my schools WIFI everytime after it goes to sleep. A little frustrating

Other Thoughts: Not bad for $899 (promo) and free shipping. I paid an additional $65 for 16gb of memory. I wanted something light and thin to carry around school with a good viewable screen. A month prior I bought an Asus x202 (11.3 inch screen) and realized it was too small for what I needed (java programs..needed multiple windows)
It can't run the only game I play ( SC2) but I didn't buy it for that...

5 out of 5 eggsAs Promised - upgraded the RAM

Pros: Successfully upgraded the RAM today from 4gb to 8gb. I just replaced the one 4gb DIMM with an 8gb DIMM. There are two slots so I could go to 16gb. Not sure if I need that in a laptop and since performance is better with matched DIMMs I will probably stick with the 8gb for now. I would recommend caution opening up the back. You need a small Phillips with a very fine point. Also be careful when you take off the back, the clips that hold it on the hinge side are very small and delicate plastic. Also, be sure and disconnect the battery before performing the memory upgrade. There is actually a diagram showing how to do this inside by the battery. It's easy to find good instructions how to do this with a little googling. I am contemplating upgrading the SSD next with a larger 256gb mSATA SSD from Crucial. That will take a bit more time so it might have to wait a while

Cons: No cons, upgrading the memory was easy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat light weight laptop

Pros: Price is hard to beat right now (around nine Benjamins.
Very light weight for the specs.
Very nice back lit keyboard.
Nice large touchpad.
Solid construction.
Battery life seems awesome.
Nice utilities included to update drivers and manage settings.

Cons: Screen is large and reasonably hi-res with decent contrast (once adjusted properly), BUT, the viewing angles are very limited.
Windows 8 takes some getting used to.
Needs more RAM (going to try and upgrade soon)
Had some issues with battery life until I updated the software and drivers.
Had some issues with the keyboard back light until I rebooted after driver updates were applied.
My only really significant issue is with the sharp edges around the base of the laptop. No big deal when typing since there are large hand rest areas around the touchpad. But, when just surfing using the touchpad it can dig into your wrists a bit and become uncomfortable.

Other Thoughts: The screen viewing angles aren't a big deal for me since I view it from straight on and don't often need to share the screen with others. However, I could see it being annoying if you were trying to share some photos with a bunch of people.
I am shocked that laptop manufacturers haven't figured out the importance of ergonomics and putting softer curved edges on laptops. Dell had it figured out several iterations ago and then forgot about the importance of this in newer versions. I know it is likely a function of reducing weight but I would live with another ounce or two to not be damaging my nerves in my wrist. <end of rant>
I am going to upgrade the RAM and possibly the hard drive. I will report back results.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Super lightweight
Incredible start up time (few seconds)
Screen looks awesome
3 USB ports (for such a small laptop I thought that was pretty good)
Price - This was a pro for me because I bought it on sale for $200 off. Though $1099 is a little high admittedly.
Great battery life

Cons: 4GB of RAM - On initial use I was listening to music and surfing the internet and it would start making the music sound "robotic" when it lagged. I added a 4 gig stick and deleted some bloatware and it runs fine now.

Windows 8 - Although I still am not a fan of it for computer application, I am getting used to it and it doesn't seem quite as clunky as it did at first.

Can't adjust RAM timing or voltage in the bios it only tells you that it's there.

Other Thoughts: I know they are trying to keep the weight down but the screws on the bottom are TINY. I broke the tips off of two screwdrivers trying to get them off and I am hoping I didn't strip any in case I ever have to take it off again.
I think they could have gotten away with slightly bigger screw heads just to help with ease of use, but that is mainly me being picky.

Gave it 5 eggs because despite having to add RAM I think this is a great computer for mobile business use. I have not tired gaming on it and I don't really plan on it as I bought this for work.

I have only owned this for a short time and will update if anything changes.
