5 out of 5 eggsSo far, very impressed

Pros: Bright, high resolution, anti-glare display - man, it is hard to find a notebook with this.

Wireless N and Bluetooth.

Fairly light and thin for features -- thinner than I expected.

Pretty darn powerful.

Free copy of OEM MS OneNote 2007 in box. Have not tried it yet.

Cheap - it was the best "business"/"workstation" deal I could find. The only other I found with the high res. anti-glare screen was the HP 8510p or 8510w and I could not come within $500 for comparable features.

Can add on a ultrabay/hard drive adapter to allow a second SATA drive. PN 40Y8725. I think I will eventually upgrade the primary to 7200 and put the existing one in that adapter.

Cons: 1 pixel has only the green sub-pixel working. With this high resolution screen you really have to look to find it though, even on a solid colored background. In a photo or movie you could never find it.

1GB Ram standard, 5400 RPM HDD.

All computers are final, no return policy. I like to see it before I buy but I cannot find a single anti-glare screen in any local store so what are you gonna do?

No restore or re-installation media. Any vista install dvd will work though. You can order the 32 or 64 bit "anytime" upgrade from MS for like 10 bucks. That's what I did.

DVD writer on the loud side but I think you can actually sacrifice performance for acoustics in the BIOS.

No DVI output without dock.

Other Thoughts: I immediately upgraded the ram with the Kingston 4GB kit and reinstalled vista business in 64 bit. I don't think it had as much needless junk as a lot of brands but it is noticeably faster now.

I know that the shiny screens on most notebooks look pretty in the stores and for movies or games but for extended work in unknown lighting conditions, I have to have the anti-glare.

If you want to downgrade to XP, lenovo will send you a restore dvd for XP through most of 2008. I am happy with Vista 64 bit though so not interested.

Newegg has the wrong warranty period. It is really 3 years and 3 years.

The pictures are slightly different. Mine actually has a memory slot on the front of it. It also has an "IBM" logo rather than the "thinkpad" logo behind the screen and below the keyboard.

Newegg's price was hundreds of dollars below the lowest non-refurb price I could find anywhere else. I kept reading the description to make sure it is new, factory sealed. It is new, factor

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Sturdy Notebook

Pros: This is an excellent machine. It is very durable, and performs quite nicely.

Lenovo has been very good about releasing updates for their hardware, and have fixed a few annoyances. (They include a utility to get the updates.)

Fedora 8 runs quite well on the machine, and the latest kmod-nvidia driver works with the video card (though you need to make sure you have the latest bios from lenovo).

Cons: Well, you aren't going to be playing any high-end video games on this machine, but that's not what it was designed for, anyway.

Other Thoughts: Mine has 2GB ram, which is kind of the sweet spot when running Vista (something I no longer do, though it worked smoothly for the months I used it before replacing it with Fedora).

I've had it since August 2007
