Great deal!
- Pros: Excellent deal, all around. $50 rebate is just icing on the cake!
Great audio (with sub!), FAST processor (albiet 32-bit), great chipset and rich feature set.
- Cons: Vista makes things slow. Lenovo webcam software not among drivers after reinstall?
- Other Thoughts: This is an EXCELLENT deal!! I HIGHLY recommend this laptop!
Good little laptop
- Pros: Nice little well built laptop, the exterior of this thing is really scratch resistant. Boots up fast (about 1 minute) and is pretty stable (been using it every day for 3 weeks and hasn't crashed or locked up on me yet).
Speakers are nice and loud for a laptop, which can be nice if you're watching a movie without headphones.
Has 3 USB ports, with ports on each side of the laptop, which I really like.
I also bought an acer of similar price point around the same time as this laptop, and this really outshines it in all aspects except the video card.
The wifi card has a slightly better range than any other laptop I've used.
- Cons: I was a little disappointed in the battery life, lasts about an hour and a half on the balanced setting.
Graphics card is the weak point on this laptop. If you plan on playing the occasional 3D game, look elsewhere as even older games (halo, World of Warcraft) have pretty low fps on this machine.
I'm not sure why, but when I'm moving files around on the hard disk, or creating or renaming folders, it will hang up at 100% for anywhere from 5-20 seconds.
- Other Thoughts: Good machine for the price.
One other thing, not a big deal thus I didnt list it as a con, the outer edge around the screen is really glossy and if you touch it you get finger prints on it immediately. This kind of annoys me.

Good little laptop

Great and well built laptop
- Pros: Well built laptop below price range $550 compared to my dell inspiron I had. Got hold of Lenovo techsupport within 10 minutes. Since I don’t like annoying vista interface and popup “Administrator right, Allow/Deny”, decided to downgrade to WinXP. It is very painful to remove all the junkware came with the laptop. I tried to change SATA Disk to IDE in Bios and got half the size of the hard disk. Hence decided to slipstream SATA driver in XP boot disk. Now the system is running Win XP like a charm and way faster than Vista. Perhaps you can optimize vista to run as fast as XP. I like the USB drives on both sides of the laptop and the media slot at the front. The great part of this laptop you can turn of the wifi by sliding the switch. With newegg, got the laptop on third day despite of treacherous weather in chicago. Heads up newegg.
- Cons: The network cable slot is just next to the power slot which is very inconvenient, but I can live with that. There are several places in lenovo website where windows XP is pointing to the wrong drivers(SATA, Realtek audio etc..). However I made my work around. Took one egg off because of the erroneous support website.
- Other Thoughts: For someone wanted to downgrade to XP is bit of a challenge, but great smooth ride laptop for users who stick with Vista.
