1 out of 5 eggsVery cheap quality poor customer service

Pros: Not a lot......cheap price cheap case cheap hardware.....bad company to deal with. Classic customer no $ervice in support.

Cons: Fan died after 15 mo. probably the worst laptop I have ever owned.

I would avoid Lenovo's in general from here on out. third bad to fail < 24 months between home and office.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap Laptop - Look elsewhere

Pros: Cheap laptop, 4 USB Ports, Light for it's Size

Cons: Cheap Build, Weird Camera Drivers that Are not Available "easily", Bad Hard Drive housing area/Retention, Seems to have too many problems with "delays"

Other Thoughts: I have built many Desktops, and repair laptops. This Laptop is cheap. I have went through 3 Hard drives in this Laptop, and about to RMA one for a Fourth. The Drive Bay is sloppy, and the Plastic is cheap. There are strange Delays which should not be from the Specs on the Machine. Since I can not stand Vista I Installed XPro. Sound Buttons "sorta" work with there XP Drivers, system still Hangs now and then with XP Pro, you have to search for the Chip Number via google for the Camera Driver under XP. After this Laptop I will never recommend or buy a Lenovo Again.

5 out of 5 eggsdead computer is not dead

Pros: the g530 series lenovo is a powerhouse, and available at the time we bought with XP pro.
we shipped one back after it "died". then a second "died" (i.e.: it would not boot with any amount of coaxing). with further investigation, we found a correctable flaw in the harddrive housing. there is no set screw to hold the harddrive in, only a plastic flipper that is on the harddrive door. this setup allows the harddrive to get very easily bumped loose, causing the booting problems. putting a shim on the plastic flipper corrected the problem. now the computer is as solid as a rock.

Cons: none after the harddrive retention problem is fixed.

Other Thoughts: no telling how many of these were shipped back, when a $0.02 piece of plastic could fix this.

3 out of 5 eggsNICE AND WACKY

Pros: Nice weight, wireless has great range, Veriface security, and of course the prices was right

Cons: NO SYSTEMS OR DRIVERS DISK. To much fluff and stuff for me. Too may programs that I will never use. Location of power port on wrong side, interferes with optical drive. Location of USB port.

Other Thoughts: Although I lake the laptop overall. I like having the option of reloading the laptop with my own partitions. And creating recovery disk do not solve the problem. Having the Systems, Drivers, and Application disks would make it easier to do this. Survey for manufacture is vague at best.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value!

Pros: Not bad specs for the money. Product of very reputable laptop manufacturer. Fairly light for size and price range.

Cons: Somewhat cheap looking and feeling due to lots of plastics but it seems like it will hold up (definitely not flimsy). Hinges are fairly tight (could be a good thing or a bad depending on individual preferences - the screen definitely does not wobble in any way while you are using the computer, but you have to use both hands and "spread" the computer open). Soft keys are useless. Vista is a joke.

Other Thoughts: Upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP. I got this for my wife who will basically just use it for web browsing and email. so this computer is overkill and works great. Probably not a gaming machine (neither of us are anyway) but it runs the latest Photoshop fine. Really a great value and I would get one again in a heartbeat.

4 out of 5 eggsWonky Touchpad

Pros: inexpensive, good speed for Internet browsing and decent for graphic and web design apps

Cons: Touchpad is old school, very sensitive to touch clicks, finally just turned off the touch clicks. Scroll is wonky too.

Other Thoughts: would be a fine computer for the price, if not for the touchpad

5 out of 5 eggsWhat you pay for and more

Pros: Great price, decent specs, good computer for the basic needs of everyday computing

Cons: Like others have said, the keyboard layout is a little different. It's taking a little getting use to

Other Thoughts: For the price of 450, couldn't really go wrong. Wish I could upgrade the RAM higher than 4GB, but for now, that is really all I need.

4 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 on G530-444624U

Pros: I'm assuming this is similar to the 444624U model. Installed Windows 7 Pro—found all drivers, newer than the Vista drivers on the Lenovo website—except the media port, ALPS touchpad, and camera. Overall, seems like a solid performer, no problems after three months, but I don't game on it.

Cons: Why isn’t this coming with W7 yet!? I don’t have much exposure to Vista so am not a critic. However, I got tired of all the bloatware, Lenovo utilities, etc, so blew it away and started with a clean W7 (the real version, not RC2). Can’t get the touchpad working, despite trying several drivers from Lenovo and elsewhere. Lenovo has NO W7 drives for this, only XP/Vista. Fortunately, I find touchpads annoying, so this is not an issue for me. It saves me from turning it off.

5 out of 5 eggsNice lapton

Pros: This is a great laptop and I am very happy with my purchase. This laptop is very quiet...I hardly hear the fan. It lacks some usefull features as others indicated in the reviews, but it's still a great buy. With 2ghz cpy and 3gb ram---the price is right.

Cons: No cons
