1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy

Pros: Unsure. It works for a month or so at a time then goes back to crashing all the time.

Cons: Crashes at least once a day without warning, and considering I don't even use it for an hour a day, that's pretty bad. Specs look much better on paper, actual performance is much worse than expected. I decided to write this review because it has crashed 5 times in the past 30 minutes and I thought to myself, "I should probably warn the others" (no joke, it crashed as I was writing this). Even when I first got it the machine had graphics issues with staying in my 1366x768 resolution. Plastic build gets dirty all the time.

Other Thoughts: I'd rather wipe my rump with industrial grade sandpaper than buy another Lenovo.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: -Good gaming performance (until it overheats and shuts off)
- Good looking design
- Good speakers
- HDMI works (When the rest of the laptop does)

Cons: - Out of the box: BSOD when trying to watch a youtube video (fixed with drivers directly from AMD and not Lenovo which was difficult to do), Giant mouse cursor problem (again a Lenovo video driver issue).

-Screen goes green if the laptop is shaken just a bit
-REALLY HOT, shuts off on battlefield bad company 2 after 45min. Noticeably hot to the touch during normal use.

-Even with one edge of the laptop on a desk and the other edge let to fall about 10cm you risk losing your harddrive, this laptop has broken 2 harddrives so far from minor stuff like this. This is not what you'd want in a reliable laptop

-Extremely flimsy and bad dvd tray: the button is too sensitive, with a gentle touch it would open and this led me to break the dvd tray front plastic

-Random button "presses" happen which makes Lenovo's power management software randomly pop up

-Battery life is a joke (1:30 after 2 years)

-Fn button and Ctrl switched? what were they thinking

-The mic is bad

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop thinking Lenovo was a reliable brand because of their Thinkpad line up, I really doubt their ideapad line up has anything to do with their professional one. This laptop was extremely mediocre with its AWFUL reliability (it's the 2nd year and im LUCKY if this thing boots up without errors) and awful battery life ( I wasn't expecting anything great but 6 cell battery in a laptop of these specs is not fun).

If you're looking into buying a laptop, don't cheap out and buy this junk, get a Toshiba or Asus.

Once I have money to replace this I swear I'm throwing it out of the office window.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly lasted past the warranty

Pros: Was a great computer for the price.

Cons: Stopped posting video after just over a year. Only lasted just past the manufacturer's warranty. This computer was very well taken care of with minimal use. Contacted manufacturer and they refuse to cover this hunk of junk and want me to pay full price for a repair. I am more than qualified to fix it my self, so I will just fix it on my own and sell it to the first buyer I can find. This will be the last Lenovo I ever buy. Cheaply made, Flimsy, just not a high level of craftsmanship in this product. I've never had a laptop die on me this quickly, so this just shows me they don't provide quality products. The glossy look just makes it a fingerprint magnet you will be wiping them off every five seconds. I understand that computers occasionally have an issue, but when the manufacturer doesn't own up to their failures, I lose all respect for their products. Customer support means everything and they just don't have it.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh. Lenovo sucks

Pros: Pretty good start-up time, relatively good performance

Cons: - Control button is a bit awkward for gamers since it's smaller than usual and the function button is in the bottom right
- Had issues with blue-screening the day I opened it
- Webcam broke within a month
- Lenovo's customer service (in my experience) is absolutely worthless

Other Thoughts: The main problem I have with this laptop is personal. As a product itself it's ok, not the best laptop I've ever owned but decent bang for the buck. I had several issues with my laptop out of the box and after I sent it in, Lenovo claimed I needed to pay $300 for a new screen [even though a forum post with the same issue on their official forums resulted in that guy getting a free repair], and they sent it back to me with no repairs done.

I would recommend against getting this laptop simply for Lenovo's technical support alone.

1 out of 5 eggsA bad choice

Pros: good spec

Cons: super bad quality. this laptop is easy to get overheated. when cpu reaches 40% working efficiency, the surface becomes hot and the working performance becomes bad. The i7 processor is waste. The mainbord is replaced after 3 months' use because it cannot be charged. After another 3 months, the bluetooth cannot be recognized. What's more, the display driver always stop working even i have updated and reinstalled the driver software several times. I purchased this laptop due to its i7 cpu, large Ram memory and good display card. However, the bad quality make the cpu can only work in 40% efficiency at most. Its keybord is also in low quality. I need to press k for 3 times to type this letter once. Do not recommend this laptop and any lenovo product. If you really like lenovo's low price, choose thinkpad series.

4 out of 5 eggsHad problems, but I think they've been fixed

Pros: As everyone here has stated, it's a good price for the hardware you get (I bought it when it was $900 from another site [can't say where, Newegg doesn't like that], but it shouldn't matter where I buy it in order to give a review of the laptop, itself, here). You can read the tech specs of the laptop and get a general idea of how it should perform for yourself, without me restating it in a review. ;)

I can play most graphically intensive games on the highest or near-highest settings with this laptop, and _now_ I have no major problems with it(read "other thoughts") and am generally satisfied overall with my purchase!

Cons: Sometimes not having a numpad is annoying, but that's my fault for not thinking I'd need/want it. :P

The resolution sometimes feels a bit too small, but it works.

Aaaaand I could complain about the battery life, but, again, that's my fault for not buying FOR battery life. You can't expect to have much of such when you're working with an i7 and a relatively powerful graphics card.

I can't think of much else to complain about...this is my first Lenovo laptop (I had never even heard of Lenovo before I started looking for a laptop), and I'm pretty satisfied overall with it, though I wouldn't have said the same about a month ago (read "other thoughts"). It's because of that stressful time that I'm forced to deduct an egg from this review..

Other Thoughts: When I first bought this laptop, it only had a few reviews, which generally said the same things (that it was a good deal, the price was good for the hardware you get etc. etc.), so I didn't know what to expect when I bought it in August. If you've read the other reviews (the low-egg ones), you can probably already guess what I'm about to complain about. From the time I first got it, this laptop had BSODs and all kinds of graphics problems. I had the cursor-being-huge-problem. I had the problem where it would go black, try to reload, and just keep trying to fix itself in an endless loop until BSOD. I had ALL those problems, and complained to support like the others. And all I got, as well, was that it was an ATI/Windows problem. (Yes, all my stuff was updated, latest drivers, etc.)
ALL of that seems to have been fixed, now. ATI updated their drivers, and I updated to those, and have gone without having BSODs and graphics problems for weeks!! Now all is well, and I'm happy. :)

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop with 1 exception.

Pros: Fast processor.
Plenty of RAM.
Low price!

Cons: The screen resolution is pretty low for a new laptop, 1366 x 768 is way freaking low! Its a bit of a PITA for many applications including web surfing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop for the Price

Pros: Build quality and appearance are nice. Keyboard has a nice feel and touch (not spongy). Startup time is very fast.. Graphics quality is very good (may not be HD, but has a nice look).

Cons: First few days was getting mouse cursor issue with getting large then small, and got a couple of BSOD's. Did some checking on Lenovo forum, and updated AMD grapics driver off Lenovo Support site. Problems seem to be resolved. Currently have gone 24hrs without a single issue (which was not the case before).

Other Thoughts: Cant beat the overall quality and performance of this laptop for the money...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent bang for the buck

Pros: Amazing speakers, Great battery life, powerful machine, huge screen, it's fast and quiet and doesn't run so hot you'd think you had a nuclear reactor powering the vid card.

Did I mention the speakers? I ran a video demo in the store side by side with an Acer of similar specs and the screen colors/contrast/sharpness and crystalline sound quality made up my mind right then and there. I had to bring it home.

I picked this up the week before Halloween for about the same price as here, now it's got a 50% price increase at that reseller, so either they realized how great this puppy is or it's holiday markup.

I still haven't uninstalled all the bloatware because the webcam accessory programs are kinda fun.

No excessively hardcore gaming yet, but it runs GuildWars and 64 bit AutoCAD without a hiccup.

Feels Ridiculously light for how big it is, I am absolutely in love with this machine.

Cons: I too have the weird problem of the enlarged mouse, but if you just go to display functions, pick a different screen resolution and then go back to your original it goes away for another week or so, thus far it's only happened like 3 times.

Lenovo's bloatware/webcam programs include a facial recognition login program, which doesn't work all that well unless you're in the same lighting source you took the picture in at all times, but that's more of a crack at Lenovo's programmers rather than this sexy machine.

There's been a few times where the touchpad has been too sensitive and the thumb from the had Not navigating (ready to type and hovering over the space bar) has been detected and shoves the mouse cursor into an upper corner, I could probably tweak the sensitivity settings to fix that though.

Some software malfunctions, but that's more of the 64bit OS's fault than anything else. Eventually things like Flash will catch up to 64bit. Until then it makes for weird online brows

Other Thoughts: The power adapter is fairly large (and the 3 pin adapter cable IS really ridiculously short compared to other laptop power supplies) but you're pouring 120W of juice into this machine rather than the wussy little 65W in those super low powered "green" laptops.

If you bought this laptop, you were looking for big processing power for gaming and video, so you're not allowed to whine about the source of all that power.

I'm still getting used to the Ctrl/Fn keys being swapped.

Widescreen resolution takes some getting used to if you haven't had it before, I do a lot more scrolling now than I did before this laptop.

Was a HUGE fingerprint magnet for the first week or so, but I notice it much less after a month of continuous use.

2 out of 5 eggsKeyboard Issue

Pros: Best laptop for the price because the graphics card inside is better than most others.

Cons: Keyboard stopped working. Now when I hit a key it will insert 10 random characters, spaces, and clicks all over. RMA.

Other Thoughts: Other than that, I wish it had a backlit keyboard, was not the type of shiny material that gets smudged so easily, and the ctrl and fn key should be switch around.
