Customer Reviews of the Hewlett-Packard TX1410US(KC469UA)
Pros: Had heard way too many bad things about Vista and needed to run programs that i knew vista did not allow, even just playng with it crashed less than 45 minutes after the first startup running nothing more complicated than a browser, so I decided to swap it with XP. Windows XP tablet edition went on it without much trouble. Had it functional after a base install, A little trouble with finding graphics drivers, but they are on HPs website if you look well, though they don't install thru the direct method.
Cons: The main locking mechanism for the pen died less than a week after I got it. Pen still semi locks into place so I decided against the pain of sending it in, simply disappointing. Still have not fixed all of the question marks in device manager, but laptop more than functional. The only thing that is annoying me is that I have not been able to get screen rotation to function. Otherwise as far as I know only the Ethernet, bluetooth, memory card reader and finger print drivers are giving me trouble. But admittedly I have not been trying hard to find them. The currently running ones (Graphics, audio, wireless, massive hard drive, ect) are the only ones I was really interested in the first place. Would have been nice if HP provided more comprehensive XP drivers. Suppose Microsoft is pressuring them to force people into Vista.
Other Thoughts: Battery life is around 2 - 3 hours, not bad for the price. Battery extending out the back is a bit annoying, also its probably just my paranoia but they could have done a better job of securing it, I avoid putting any unnecessary stress on it for fear of breaking it off and fragging the laptop, again probably just my paranoia. Laptop temperature is... moody, as long as you don't put it on a couch or blanket, anything that would really block its vents it seems to be quite cool, save a primary exhaust port on the upper right. That thing can cook bacon when you're running anything that uses the processor.

Rating: 5/5great fun
Pros: Not slow at all, great size for carring, fun tapping and talking to it and making it do what you wont with no mouse or keyboard, and wi-fi tx and rx at good speeds.
Cons: gets hot (but what laptop dosent?), alot of preloaded junk (you woch this screen when first loading up saying installing usless apps and theres nothing you can do about it ha ha ha) but in all it took me 40 mins to remove all the software while watching a movie. oh and finger scanner works i'm just having a hard time but i think it's just me.
Other Thoughts: battery life is pritty good on avg, 45 mins to an 1 hour. smaller than what i thought it would be. and the pen can sometimes be off alittle bit. all in all the best little gaget i'v come acrossed in a long while.

Rating: 5/5My wife loves it!
Pros: This is a great tablet PC for me with powerful 2.2GHz dual core cpu,2GB ram and a spacious 250GB HDD for a price. Plus added useful features like built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling on skype or listening to BT Stereo headset (paired w/ Jabra BT620s), and a nice wireless N feature, I could see how fast it moved my files w/ blazing 270mbps between PC connected in a gigabit/wireless N router. I like the tilt screen feature of the monitor I feel comfortable when I used this watching movie during in flight where there is limited space in your seat inside the airplane.
Cons: bloatwares! too many!

Pros: Small, touch screen, Turion 64 X2 TL-64, fingerprint reader, 802.11a/b/g/n, bluetooth, front headphone jacks, and a clever latch system. The rotate screen button is very useful.
Cons: Battery life isn't great and the six cell battery extends out the back. Bloatware. No digitizer on touch screen. The laptop has that annoying shiny black plastic the reveals any all fingerprints. The CPU does get a little hot but that should be expected from a dual-core AMD CPU.
Other Thoughts: I am very happy with this laptop. I don't use the tablet all that often so the lack of digitizer isn't very important to me. If you can't live without a digitizer the tx2000 seris (the successor to this model) does have a digitzer so you might want to wait for that to come up sometime in March 2008.

Rating: 5/5Great Buy!
Pros: This is one of the best deals I have found in a long time. You can't beat the price for these features and specs. 2gb ram and the AMD TL-64 make running Vista smooth. Good battery time. Light weight and small size makes the laptop ideal for travel.
Cons: BUNDLED SOFTWARE PRE-INSTALLED...it took me 2 hours to uninstall everything I didn't need. HP seems to put tremendous rhetorical software for the sole purpose of branding their name. The fingerprint scanner is not great, but still effective. The tablet feature is nice, however the screen isn't as responsive as I would have liked it. Screen is overly glossy, making it semi-difficult to see in brightly lit rooms.
Other Thoughts: I know it may seem there are more cons than pros from my review, however the benefits most certainly outweigh the problems. I highly recommend this product.

Rating: 5/5Bang for your buck!
Pros: quiet, fans only go on when need be. fast (with removal of bloatware of course), compact and portable, nice placement of ports. The fingerprint scanner is a joy to use. loaded with features for its price. has its own remote that you can store securely in the notebook itself. very responsive. 250GB is more than enough HDD space for the average student.
Cons: squeaky lower right portion of the frame. i think they forgot to secure it. the battery is not designed to fit the unit. it protrudes the laptop. no digitizer, but with the price, I can't complain.
Other Thoughts: only 3 hours battery life. This is the perfect starter tablet pc. The unit is small enought to lug anywhere. The tablet is soemthing that needs getting used to but with time and calibration, it is responsive enough to write notes with. I recommend to get MS OneNote as well. If you are just starting and want to get a tabletPC without wanting to spend extra, then this is for you. If you want precision though, you should get a tablet with a Wacom Digitizer. So as not to make stray marks with your hand.

Rating: 5/5OK, but...
Pros: Laptop has everything from the higher class except the case. It is in the range of Toshiba Portege but with $800 difference. See cons.
Cons: It gets freaking hot in upper right area, and especially in the tablet mode gets nasty. Right hand wrist area is squeaky, but not the left hand.
