Great Laptop
- Pros: It handles all the graphic design work I do pretty well. I haven't had a chance to do any extensive video editing on it yet though. It has plenty of memory, a good monitor and the blu-ray is always a plus. Not to mention the ability to record tv shows with windows media center. This is my first Vista computer and I love it.
- Cons: I wish it had bluetooth, but other than that it's a great laptop.
- Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd HP laptop and I love it. My other one is 6 years old and I haven't had a single problem out of it. I've had this one for 3 months and haven't had any problems either.
HP downhill
- Pros: its a simple computer with ok parts ( not low end but not high end) priced at an ok price
- Cons: 1) Major driver/hardware issues - (wireless died after a month, driver issues with vista will freeze or largely lag out programs but not vista it self)
2) this is my 2nd hp laptop and this build just SUCKS. my first one is solid as a rock (physically - i had to send it in because the hard drive died ).
When you type on this one the plastic face plates and the keyboard tend to shift around as if there are screws loose.
3)Blue-ray play back can be laggy, and thanks to sony getting it to play through an HDMI cable is almost impossible because of licensing issues with the 3d card (not nessarly an hp issue)
- Other Thoughts: i wouldn't recommend this laptop as it is. just because of the fact that after owning it i feel it was cheaply designed laptop. how ever tech support for hp is very easy to deal with and there is no hassle what so ever if the you need to have the computer shipped back. ( even if its 2ce over ) but come on HP seriously out of the 20 or so people that i know who have bought an hp laptop in the last two years over half of them have had to be sent back because of hardware failures ( yes they were all fixed under warranty - but there are some serious quality issues going on ) im not a mac fan but after this laptop ive lost my faith
Hard drive down /warranty swap
- Pros: Excellent warranty support. Be patient though. Lost my hard drive after 30+ days use. HP quickly responded via email string and phone to assess after I ran diagnostics that it failed. They responded by shipping my hard disk + recovery disks to me on an FPO address on a ship overseas. TURNAROUND was approx 10 days I had the part in hand. That was from California to the Middle East! Install/Reload was painless and took about 2-3 hours last night...
- Cons: Of course! It failed after 30 days or so... Not a problem for me though because it is not my daily user... Has made me consider purchasing extended warranty though.
- Other Thoughts: This computer meets all my needs as a basic user and beginning gamer. Excellent choice for desktop replacement. Processes fast, sounds great, and looks great too. Just keep it clean!
