Amazing Little Device at a Great Price!!!
- Pros: I purchased this only to have something to take to and from my house, school, and friends houses. I am now finding myself only using this netbook and not using my desktop at all! This little laptop has thoroughly convinced me that netbooks are the future of laptops. With the latest bios update, MSI (the manufacturer) allows you to overclock the Intel Atom Processor without voiding the warranty!! Go from 1.6GHz to 2GHz when powered by the wall adapter!
- Cons: I was able to get 2 hours out of the battery just browsing the internet when I was on the road (had it tethered to my cell phone). But besides that that is the most I have gotten out of the battery. Keyboard takes a while to get used to, but it isn't a huge problem.
- Other Thoughts: MSI now allows you to break the warranty sticker to upgrade the ram/hdd in the netbook. If you don't believe me, email them/google the topic. You only have one slot to upgrade ram, not two. The 1GB that comes with the laptop is soldered to the motherboard. I upgraded my HDD to a 320GB Samsung drive, and added a 1GB stick of ram.
For those interested, I am currently running Windows 7 Beta 1 on the MSI Wind without a hiccup. Upon installation, everything except the wireless worked. Simply connect to the internet via ethernet and Windows Update will catch the wireless card driver. You will also need to install the Windows XP System Control Manager driver to be able to use the overclocking function built into the bios properly.
Respectible Netbook
- Pros: This netbook is great. After reviewing and looking over the Acer aspire one, the EEE 901 and the Lenovo S10, this is the best bang for the buck. The Wind has become my favorite machine. Not only does it perform well in xp, but ubuntu and even OSX run great on it. The keyboard is very comfortable compared to the eee or the aspire one and I don't tell much difference from a full sized keyboard. I can't enough about the screen. It's super sharp and very bright on the highest setting.
- Cons: The build quality could be a little better. It definitely a finger print magnet if you get the black one. The battery life is the only reason I didn't give it five stars. Others report getting 2:30+ hours of battery life. I'm lucky to get just two hours on medium to low brightness. The battery is rated for 2200mAh but mine won't charge past 2000. Not a huge deal since I'm getting a 9cell soon.
- Other Thoughts: The screen size, hard drive capacity and keyboard make this a great buy compared to the other netbooks fro the same price.

Fantastic - But no Bluetooth
- Pros: Everything. Fast, overclockable. Easily upgradable. Small. Runs any OS. I am dual booting XP Pro and OSX 10.5.6.
- Cons: Battery life blows (expected from a 3-cell). No Bluetooth.
- Other Thoughts: I consider myself a fool, everywhere I had read these came with Bluetooth, but aparrently not this model. It has the bluetooth light in the front, but now that I look, it specifically says "No Bluetooth" on the box. Oh well. The whole purpose was to use a BT keyboard so I didn't have to occupy a USB port.
memory issue
- Pros: Feature rich. On paper, and my short experience with it, it offers more than the competition.
- Cons: 32 days after purchase, it would repeatedly blue screen on boot. I believe it to be a memory issue.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg is great. They agreed to RMA it even though it is past their 30 day warranty.
Works for my wife
- Pros: It isn't overburdened with a super bloated operating system. It runs windows XP, and it is very snappy. My wife uses it for playing online games, surfing the web, and youtube. It works just as well for her as her similarly equipped core duo notebook.
- Cons: Keyboard takes a little getting used to
